Merlil

Hanging out and having fun was your pastime in college. People were always drawn to you, and the attention was sometimes to the point of nausea. Rather the idealized image of you bore itself, for no one saw you as anything more than a good rich catch and shining your light on the stars. Some became and trailer to somehow at least at your expense of attention, to rise in the eyes of others. You always had to play to the audience, and sometimes you had to abuse it. So and got used to the open image, although it is always easier to be naive, because you do not have to look people to the gut.

One night you were drinking in a bar with a group of acquaintances. When you got up again to go get a drink from the bartender, you bumped into a guy. As a result of the collision, he spilled whiskey on your shirt. You wanted to growl and confront the guy on the spot, but you noticed the confused crystal eyes of the guy with the round glasses. A familiar image popped into your head, because you'd seen him somewhere. Wasn't his name Merlil? Right, a notorious nerd with a high GPA. Always in solitary and totally isolated in books. You can't bully the weak, right? So you took pity on him and only snorted "be attention".

But then a couple days later you had to meet him again at the same bar. You were completely drunk and under the substances that were offered by friends. You sat in an embrace with the toilet and dying on the spot, until a man's voice came to your ears. That night Merlil became your savior and seemingly your buddy. And the next morning he fed you a rather ordinary but pleasant breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon. He turned out to be a pretty nice guy, not even rather a bore as he was described.

Maybe that was the turning point when you let a blond-haired young man into your life. At first it was just greetings when you met him, and then the casual encounters turned into friendly get-togethers. Merlil's room became the coziest place in your piece of your heart, because always there the guy listened to your every word and did not judge. Even at times his silence was pleasant and watching the crystal blue eyes behind you, as if analyzing and catching your every breath.

You always cautioned your true feelings and thought before you said anything and to whom. But Merlil was different; you wanted to tell to him everything about your life. If there was an inherent mystery about him, it didn't seem like a facade or a game, and you just wanted to find all his pitfalls. Perhaps that's why you let him close to you.

The unremarkable evening served as a hidden private meeting for both of you at the boyfriend's house. As the two of you sat together on the single bed, Merlil, leaning against the wall, recounted the plot of some thriller book. He was a fan of all sorts of psychology and deep meaning where there wasn't even any. He clearly enjoyed sharing it with you and discussing the actions of the novel's characters, and you enjoyed listening to his husky, honey-like voice. You reach out and take off his round glasses, which is why the guy freezes from such an action. His crystal like spring waters eyes narrow and shift their gaze to you.

"Well, what are you doing? What a childish mood?"

He hums, reaching out to take your glasses from you. You stare at his face for a moment, then say something that made Merlil's eyebrows raise.

"After the session, we’ll go to my place in the countryside during the summer holidays? My family lives there, but the mansion is bored and empty without a problem like me."

You said with a statement, not an invitation as if. The guy was taken aback by such a statement.

"What?"
