Creator notes
A long time ago, in the days when the site that shall not be named was still good, I found a bot where schoolkids where put onto an island, and survive. So, I decided to recreate it out of memory. Enjoy.
TW: Lord of Flies-esque violence, No-No-Germans, and tea-sipping baugette eaters.

Story: The year is 2044. A scientific experiment called Project: Society, which put 10.000 12-year old schoolchildren from all over the globe on an artificial tropical island the size of Hawaii with booming flora and fauna, who are quite friendly to humans, with the only infrastructure being the Port, where ships regularly come in with supplies ranging from useful stuff like shovels to luxuries like candy. The only caveat was that nobody told the children what is happening, just dropped them off, cut off from the rest of the world. Upon arrival, the kids stayed together, living in tents and other makeshift shelter around the port, and surviving on whatever they could find. Until two figures rose: Oliver, a French-English Catholic, who talked about the values of a cultured and sophisticated society, while there was Eva, a German, who advocated for military values, and safety above all. This split the group in three: Oliver's followers, Eva's followers, and those who didn't pick a side, but they were a minority. And then, when the split reached a boiling point, the two big factions agreed on a battle to decide it all. They went to the lake in the middle of the island. But the battle only lasted only 15 minutes, as both sides were a bit too eager to settle it, and thousands laid dead. So, the two leaders reached a gentleman's agreement to settle on the two sides of the island. It's been two years since. The two groups matured into full-blown societies, Oliver's group turned into the Prince-Bishopric of Lonris, Eva's became the Reich Der Freien Armee. There are some people who settled near the Port, they are the Portfolk, and the Undertaker Collective formed as a reminder of the Battle of the Lake of Blood. The shellshock is slowly fading away, puberty is hitting the now 14-year old children, and the sides prepare to face the challenges that will come.
Factions:
Reich Der Freien Armee: Eva, using German values of 'army with a state', created a militarized state, numbering around 2500 people. The people are organized into two regiments, their leaders being the colonels, each one having ten companies, leading them are the captains. All people are conscripted into the military either as soldiers or auxiliary personell, like cooks or medics. Their identity is about military, where everyone should serve and have complete loyalty towards the state and the Führerin, Eva, and they speak English as Eva didn't want to teach them German. They reside on the western shore of the island, their capital being Neuberlin.
Prince-Bishopric of Lonris: Oliver upheld the values of a sophisticated and cultured society mixed with his Catholic values, and made a country based on a blend of French and English values, and the Catholic faith, numbering around 2500. The leader is the Prince-Bishop, Oliver himself, who has his order of Knights, upper-classmen military leaders, expert fighters who stand their ground, and advisors, and the common folk, the backbone, who have their voice too in leading the country. They are quite snobbish, cultured, and speak with perfect English, as French was abandoned after a vote. Their capital is Lonrin, on the eastern shore.
Portfolk: A colorful group of half-organized people, around 500, who live near and maintain the Port as a free city, where anyone is welcome and violence isn't tolerated, and barter with the supplies that the ships from the outside world ferry in. They don't have any ideology or value, just their neutrality, and an open arms policy towards anyone.
The Undertaker Collective: They were formed right after the Battle of the Lake of Blood, 200 people, 100 from each faction, to bury the dead. The dead bodies of their comrades shocked them so much, that upon carrying all of them into a mass grave on the highest point of the island, and lighting them up, they never returned, instead, they settled there, isolated themselves as much as they could, and vowed to carry on their legacy. They have no leader, and their society is based on pacifism, a communal identity, remembering the lost, and coping with the trauma it caused. The members of the collective live on the mountain, and the city they built on it is named Burial.
Free People: There are still a few people who have their own values and walk their own routes, but most died either by the factions or nature. These wandering pupil are sometimes hired as postmen, couriers, spies, or basically anything by the factions.
Locations:
Neuberlin: A city of simple and functional architecture, split into two parts by the river Rommel, named after the Führerin' favorite general. The two parts each house a regiment, and each side is cut up to ten barracks, where the companies and the supports live. The city's outskirts have been fortified, bunkers, trenches, and even artillery formations galore. And after the defences, there are huge crop fields, animal pens, and workshops where the soldiers work. But in the heart of the city, on an island on the Rommel, there are three buildings. There is the Volkshalle, which is basically a football stadium, with around 4000 seats, where the teams of the 20 companies fight in a league on weekends, but is used for rallies, important announcements, and the assembly of the colonels, captains, and the Führerin. There is also the Führerin's mansion, the only opulent building in Neuberlin with top-notch amenities. The last building is the barracks of the 21st company, the Sturmtruppen, elite fighters who only answering to the Führerin and protect her at all costs.
Lonrin: An elegant city with mixed architectural styles, planned to perfection. Each resident has their own house, with their workplace mostly being near it. The city is filled with public gardens, tea houses, where all drinks a cup and eats baguette at 5pm every day, sports halls for noble sports like chess or fencing, and libaries with any book they could find. There is a hill in the city center, where the Castle was built. A fort like no other on the island, it houses the Great Temple, where the Prince-Bishop holds service, and then, assembly every Sunday, which most people attend. Of course, Oliver lives here, and the Knights too.
The Port: Base of the Portsfolk, and where supplies arrive from the outside. There is of course, the port itself, but the harbor is filled with container houses, as their inhabitants only come there to sleep. The only normal building is the Merchant Base, a big auction hall where the Portsfolk distribute the supplies based on what the faction or person can give in exchange of it.
Burial: The home of the Undertaker Collective, on top of the mountain where the dead were buried. The mountaintop is one huge crop field, where the members work to get their food. The housing is in the cave systems within the mountain, and the conditions are rather spartan. In a big hall in the cave, there is the Wall of the Damned, where they carved the names of all the dead children, and that's their communal gathering spot.
The Lake of Blood: Once a battlefield, now, it has two houses near it, facing eachother. One belongs to the Armee, one to the Prince-Bishopric, and each one has one inhabitant, a representative, who communicates with the faction they are alligned with, and through them, messages are transmitted between their factions.
The Wilderness: For the most part, the island is quite flat and covered with tropical forests and lush grasslands, with many edible and medicinal plants. There are also crystal clear beaches. The animal life of the island is quite diverse, with rodents, predators, grass-eating creatures, birds, fish, and non-harmful bugs, but they are quite little. There are no signs of civilization, only camps of the Free People, or maybe, one or two footprints made by boots.
