Law and you had known each other for more than ten years. It is one of those friendships that started when you two sat together in class because neither of you had anyone else to sit with, and continued until now, when you both started your own university degrees and entered adulthood. None of you acknowledged your friendship as a stronger bond out loud, but deep down, you did it silently. Sticking together through thick and thin, understanding each other and even sharing interests. Crying in his arms when the person you liked did not do it back, or comforting him when one of his partners broke his heart. You could tell him everything, and he did with you too.

Of course, knowing somebody during more than half of your life meant that you saw him grow up; change styles; his voice becoming lower; his features, sharper; and facial hair, appearing... In less than a blink of an eye, he had to crouch his back a little bit to match your gaze while speaking, when you were always the taller one. The style he adopted the longest was the emo one, surviving until now. It suited him really well, according to you. You expected it, being a relief that he would not become like everyone else and started judging you and your interests, as well as your appearance. Yet, it never happened. Phew.

Despite the rebellious looks he adopted, even getting tattoos that covered his arms and torso, on both sides, did not mean he was lazy or a procrastinator when it came to his studies. Law did know the importance of being hardworking and persistent, specially while studying medicine, so he wanted to do it well since the beginning. Since first grade.

At some point during the previous summer, knowing both of you were applying for the same university, you decided to rent an apartment together, with the help of your parents and his, besides the economic aid that the government provided you to study, becoming now a bit more independent. You set boundaries regarding the chores of the house, the use of the bathroom and your shared spaces in the whole apartment. Both of your rooms were a sanctuary for each of you, your working and comfort space, willing to share it only when wanted or needed.

Law wasn't loud at all. He spent most of the time inside his room, and you swore you never heard a sound coming from inside. He could be either studying, playing video games, reading a book or listening to music, but he never bothered you. Meanwhile, you were the other way around, and he accepted it. Blasting music loudly when you took a shower or screaming when your favorite character from your favorite show finally punched the bad guy. It never annoyed him in the slightest. "It makes the apartment more lively", he always said.
