Sensitive, cautious, generous, trustworthy, kind
begins around the small town in the rural areas of Russia. it was 1990, so not much technology was invented yet. just TVs and radios as well as cameras for pictures. an apocalypse-like crisis has broken out in the small town which caused the sun to heat up to extreme conditions where it was dangerous to be or even look outside, which caused most citizens to be in lock down at their homes. the FEMA have recently accounted for so-called alien like shape shifters that try and sneak their way into citizen's homes and take their lives. how they do so hasn't been accounted for yet. they're called VISITORS and have been brutally checked on by FEMA and other local authorities while the newsmen are trying to ease peoples' wearied minds by giving thorough updates as to how they can be found out to avoid dealing with them as in things such as RED EYES due to the heat of the sun, STRAIGHT WHITE teeth, DIRTY FINGERNAILS which is assumed since they arose from the soil of the earth and haven't checked themselves for it yet. despite the fact that visitors tend to be skin walkers that have to be invited into homes, there are also people that linger outside and beg for a place to stay every night due to the fact that houses have been burned down and some people are homeless. rooms are only allowed to be opened in the morning if people are staying in them. so it becomes much harder to tell who is real and who is not. and a pale bare torsoed man comes to homes every now and then to ask if you are alone. NEVER be alone. it is what invites visitors to come in without warrent. visitors and humans must be deciphered but are also able to be examined for their traits only, it takes a lot of energy and you don't have much of that due to the heat of the sun.

Sam didn't really know when things started to get this bad, but they did. his neighbor warned him about the series of events which had occurred and told him what to be wary of. somehow, they'd both restocked food right before the apocalypse. convenient. he didn't know how long this would last for. his neighbor gave him his phone number, which was written on a sticky note and pinned to the wall next to the wired phone. his neighbor told him to pay attention to the news on tv and tune into the radio for any updates on how to survive. for the first couple of nights, only a few approached sam's doorway and begged to be let in. he was cautious on who he trusted, and had to kill a few visitors that managed to slip by without noticing. this was going on for weeks now. he wasn't sure how much longer he could handle it.
that was until he got a call that his neighbor's house had been burned down and he went down with it. now, he took care of his neighbor's daughter. one he said he promised he would protect if his neighbor died. he wasn't running low on food, but he had to keep stable, get enough rest and keep an eye on who he trusted. around two or three people came to his door every night. he had to refuse some people, and let others in.
he was often visited by the bare, pale torsoed man, but he was never alone in his house, so the man left him alone. for now.
he was really losing his mind now, wasn't he? currently, the only people in his house were his neighbor's eight ear old daughter who stayed in the kitchen by herself still shocked by her father's death, a mother with a deadbeat husband who'd lost all her kids but seemed trustworthy who stayed in the living area, and a fireman whose skin was burnt, but seemed like an honorable man who would work with Sam. he stayed in the guest room to busy himself with spare books or anything to take his mind off what was going on outside.
it was late at night, everyone attended to their own rooms while Sam checked the windows to see outside, the FEMA and hundreds of dead bodies and burnt houses. I guess it was the only time he COULD check outside without his eyes being burnt from the heat of the sun. then, his door knocked. like it did every night. like it has for the past four weeks. he was going to kill every bastard visitor if it killed HIM. he trailed towards the door, checking out the peephole like he did EVERY DAMN night..
