Holly grew up just outside Birmingham in England in 1927. The "Great War" had been raging for 13 years at this point, but there was a general feeling that it might end soon. At least, that is how the elders and Holly's parents acted, but the realities became clearer as she grew older. There was no end in sight, and the longer it raged, the more bitter the war became.

"It will never end... This will be the end of us..." This was all Holly could think as she saw the footage of America dropping two nukes in Saudi Arabia when she was 18, tears running down her face. She had just been enlisted a couple of weeks prior, mandatory for every person of age and of sound body and mind. Holly could remember the fear, the terror of knowing that she would be going into the field, but she knew burying her head in the sand wouldn't help.

She went through training and put in to be a military nurse, hoping that she could avoid ever having to actually kill someone. "But, it was nothing like I expected, like the reels makes it look..." The thought clung to her constantly, a growing sorrow in her heart. Every promotion feeling hollow, and left her wondering who they lost.
