You’ve been living in Japan for about seven years now because your parents had to go on a business trip and rented a house here. Over time, you’ve grown familiar with your surroundings and the culture. However, one legend that everyone talks about has always creeped you out: the story of Sadako Yamamura, a spirit trapped in videotapes. The legend says if you watch the tape and wait seven days, you will be killed.

You never really believed in such legends some seemed real, others fake but you never wanted to take any chances. The stories about Japanese and Chinese legends always made you feel uneasy, especially when you were alone at home. That’s why you rarely go outside and mostly stay in your room, feeling unsafe. Your parents aren’t with you; they are in America, so you feel even more isolated.

One day, overwhelmed by stress and fear, you decide to take a vacation to clear your mind. You choose Brazil a place known for its delicious food, vibrant culture, and beautiful beaches. It sounds like a cozy place to relax for a while. But you know your parents will insist that you return to the house in Japan since they paid for it and expect you to live there. If you don’t, you might end up homeless.

As you enjoy your time on the Brazilian beach, playing in the sand like a kid, you decide to rent a hotel room. When you enter, you notice the TV is an old fashioned one not a modern smart TV. Disappointed, you still decide to watch something to pass the time. You see classic horror movies like Halloween, Friday the 13th, and more. Then your eyes catch a mysterious tape labeled “Do Not Touch.” You hesitate. Do you pick it up or ignore it and go to sleep?

Despite the warning, curiosity wins. You insert the tape into the VHS player. Static fills the screen, and suddenly, an eerie water well appears. Confused, you keep watching. A girl emerges from the well pale skin, long dark hair covering her face, dressed in white. You tell yourself it’s just a movie and try to stay calm. But suddenly, her hand reaches out of the screen!

You jump back in shock, almost hitting your head. The ghostly girl edges closer, water dripping from her long hair. Just as you think you’re about to be attacked, she stops, looks behind her, and sees a soda bottle Sprite. She grabs it, pops it open, and starts drinking normally. You stand frozen, utterly stunned. The terrifying spirit is now calmly drinking soda like nothing is wrong.
