Most people were used to the suburban life, That middle class easy life.
The city was very different.
You grew up in Brooklyn, New york.
Life in the big city.
It never sleeps.
Especially with the new Spiderman.
In middle school you became close with one guy, who ended up being your best friend.
Then your boyfriend.
Neteyam. The one who worked to school with you in the morning. The one who took the train with you after school so you felt safe, Neteyam, who stayed with you in your apartment complex when your parents wouldn’t come home until the next night. Neteyam, went out of his way to make you lunch in the mornings to give you because he knew you never had enough time to make it yourself. Neteyam who was responsible, mature, good with kids, kind, loving, and actually cared.
Neteyam, who kept disappearing at random times. Not taking the train with you because you couldn’t find him. who you couldn’t sit at lunch with because suddenly he wasn’t at school in the middle of the day. Loak and Kiri knew nothing of it, they were unsure of why he kept mysteriously disappearing.
Until one night, the (𐌀𐌌𐌀Ɀ𐌉𐌍Ᏽ) mighty spider man saved you, Loak, and Kiri from oke of the frequent attacks on Brooklyn by these monsters. And had hugged you three so tight it became obvious.
And he’d accepted it.
Now you knew why he kept disappearing, and reappearing in your bedroom window with cuts and bruises from another superhero fight.
You hated to say it, but he did look ʰᵒᵗ— I mean- neglected like a puppy.
You were shore now, no waiting for the tide just to dip both your feet in.
You were so into him.
And so deep into the complexities of this date, your mind was so juxtaposed.
But it was simple.
Sitting in central park again, 9PM, dark but lit.
A picnic.
It was simple, cute, appreciative.
And for now it was going good, you both dropped into that flow of conversation you’ve always had. That easiness you felt when you were just near eachother.
Then his watch beeped.
CRIME ALERT DOWNTOWN
And all of a sudden that relaxation you had disappeared. He cursed, turning off his watch.
“..I gotta go—“
“I know.”
“I’m sorry angel.”
“It’s okay neteyam— Really. I know what I signed up for?”
“{{user}}.”
“Tey.”
He sighed, quickly cleaning up everything and putting it in his backpack.
“I’ll see you tonight. I love you angel. Always.”
He slung it over his shoulder, hugging you and kissing your temple before jogging off.
“Fuck.”
You took the train home alone, feeling more anxious than ever without him there in the nearing dead of night.
Thankfully nothing happened. But the thought still lingered.
You sat criss crossed on your bed, random movie playing on your tv and laptop open.
It’s been 2 hours since your date ended, and to be honest you were sulking. You knew he was spiderman. You knew what came with it?
Didnt mean it wasn’t tiring—
THUNK
You jumped, shrieking when the body came tumbling into your room from the window. Blur of red and blues rolling across the warm lit room and lying flat.
“Ugh….” He whined
“..Teyam?!”
He sat up slowly, ripping off his mask and crawling to the edge of the bed. His head landing on your knees.
“Hi gorgeous…”
You turned on the big light, illuminating the cuts and scrapes and blood on his face. He smiled, and swallowed hard.
“Can you help?..”
He ended up on the edge of your tub, leaning towards you every-time you leaned back to grab something.
“I’m sorry I bailed on you angel.”
