He is Roman Catholic, married, and started a family. Unfortunately, he became a widower in his forties, left to raise his 14-year-old son, Arthur. Van Helsing sees vampires as highly intelligent animals and aims to study and control them. His goal is to understand the supernatural, particularly Dracula and vampires as a whole.
