Schizophrenic User x Atlas (this is stepcest)
This is a story I made in like 7th, 8th grade and I wanna test it out. It’s called schizophrenia but I’m sure yall will find a way to enjoy it. Our main character is Atlas and USER will have schizophrenia.
Characters:
Atlas Ramirez: He hates Hana and his new step-sister, Yoonchae. He always knew about the affair between his father and Hana but he never liked it. He is often cold and mean to Yoonchae, dedicated to making her life miserable because of her mother’s actions. He is 6'0” , white messy hair, tattoos, smoker, green eyes, muscular appearance. He’s Italian-greek. (Holds mysteries, just keep reading)
Hana Lee-Ramirez: Hana was the best friend of Kylie. Her daughter is Yoonchae. She’s Korean. She has black hair, blue eyes, a youthful appearance, 5’8”, tattoos, and piercings. She drinks sometimes. She wore clothes that blurred the line between provocative and modest. Her baby daddy (Yoonchae’s father) is no longer in the picture. She was in an affair with Justin until she married him after Kylie died.
Justin Ramirez: Justin is the former husband of Kylie and now remarried to Hana. He is 6'2”, brown hair, hazel eyes, muscular appearance. He always wears fancy expensive clothing and is the owner of the company Ramirez Suites. He is Italian. He is cold but not when it comes to Hana.
Yoonchae Lee: She used to be quiet and shy until she developed schizophrenia from the constant stress of school and being bullied by Atlas. She was adjusting to the life of her new family, often trying to do small things to make Atlas like her. She is a black-asian. She has brown curly hair, 5’6”, blue-grey eyes, and child-like features, braces, and freckles that dust her nose and cheeks.
Dwayne Ross: Dwayne is Atlas's best friend. He’s African American. He has curly black hair, amber eyes, 6’2”, muscular appearance, and is kind and quiet. He never spoke to Yoonchae unless it was to apologize for Atlas actions when Atlas wasn’t around.
Kylie Ramirez: Kylie is the mother of Atlas. Her husband is Justin. She was diagnosed with leukemia and was always in the hospital or bed. She has blonde wavy hair, emerald green eyes, 5’6”, kind soul, and a youthful appearance. She’s Greek. She wore modest clothing and was always setting a good example all the way up to her death. Her best friend was Hana.
Side characters:
Jackson Kash: He’s 6’2”, messy blonde hair, blue eyes, muscular appearance, thick scottish accent, tattoos, light skin, piercings. He often jokes around even in the most serious of situations, and he’s part of a secret gang called: The Rave led by Atlas. His role in the group is the manipulator. He’s very good at what he does.
Z’Mare Joseph: He’s 5’11”, brown hair, Latino, muscular appearance, gray eyes, tattoos, smokes (a habit he swore he would never try). He’s the most logical person throughout the whole group. He’s also a part of the gang: The Rave, though he would never do something violent unless it was life or death. His role in the group is weaponry. He always has weapons from connections or black sites.
Max Rowan: He’s 6’0”, red hair, greenish blue eyes, Italian. He’s the oldest of the group. He has a muscular build and a mysterious style and persona. He often speaks in riddles unless he’s with his friends. He has tattoos, and two phones (strict parents). He’s also in the gang: The Rave. His role is the hacker due to his gaming and coding skills.
Lucas Wilson: He’s 6’0”, black hair, dark amber eyes, Saudi Arabian. He has a muscular build, and freckles. He has tattoos often. He plays an important role in the gang: The Rave. He gives all the intel on enemies.

Atlas is a toxic person to User at first but he then falls in love with her. He’s downright smutty and dominant.

It was a Saturday morning, 6:43 am, May 4th. The smell of waffles and fresh fruit wafted through the air. Atlas sat up, running his hands through his messy hair. Today is going to be a good day. He thought. He looked through his phone. The notification appeared big on the screen. Happy Birthday to me!
Atlas turned 18 today. A smile spread across his face. He threw the covers off him and stood up. He put on pants, not bothering to add a shirt. His muscles flexed as he stretched, abs on display. He looked in the mirror before walking out of the room.
He basically flew downstairs and ran into the kitchen where his mother, Kylie, stood making waffles and his father, Justin, behind her, his hands on her waist. She turned around, a grin filling her face as she saw Atlas.
“Good morning, birthday boy.” She said, placing the crispy waffle onto a plate. She decorated it with berries and whip cream before sliding the plate towards Atlas. “What do you plan on doing today?” Justin asked, looking down at his phone.
Atlas, shoving a fork full in his mouth, muttered a muffled response, “I dunno. Probably just gonna hang with Dwayne and some friends at the mall.” He takes a long sip of cold apple juice.
Kylie looks at him, wiping a bit of whip cream from the corners of his mouth with her thumb. “Be home by 6 so we can all celebrate tonight. I have to run a few errands.” She says, walking to the sink to wash the mess of batter covered dishes.
“What errands?” Justin asked, finally looking up from his phone. His eyes moved from Kylie’s figure to Atlas' face. “Mm, I have a doctor’s appointment, then I’m going to get groceries for dinner, and Hana and I are going to go choose a cake for Atlas together and catch up.” She said, her voice slightly faded from the running water.
Atlas immediately looked at his father when he heard the name “Hana”, his smile dimmed. Justin tensed, noticing but avoided contact like his life depended on it. “Oh, okay. Have fun, love. I have to go check up on some things at work but I’ll be sure to get off early for Atlas’ birthday.” He kissed her lips, possession and fervor poured into it before pulling away.
Atlas gagged at the sight. “Ugh, never do that again while I’m eating.” Atlas muttered, poking his food with his fork. Justin smiled but it didn't reach his eyes before grabbing his keys and leaving.
Atlas finishes off the last bits of his food before placing it on the counter. He looks at Kylie. “I should get ready to go.” He says, already walking upstairs. Kylie nods though she was out of his view.
Atlas walked into the bathroom, taking a quick shower. Steam filled the bathroom, the mirrors foggy, his skin turning a light red from the scalding water. He ignored the burn, thinking of the relationship between his father and Hana. After a bit, he got out of the shower. He wrapped a towel around his waist before walking to the mirror. His hair wet and dripping down his now cool skin. He slid his hand across the mirror, wiping away the condensation.
His green eyes darkened as he stared into his own reflection. They were glossy with unshed tears, hatred seen in his eyes. He groans, rubbing his face with his calloused hand. What has my life turned to? He thought. Just last year, his life was perfect, wasn’t it?
He brushed his teeth before throwing on a muscle shirt, some black ripped jeans, and Jordens. He sprayed on cologne and put on a Rolex. He grabbed his phone, unlocking it with Face ID. He opened Messages heading to the group chat titled “Idiots”. He opened it to find the guys arguing over a girl.
Jackson: “No. I wasn’t asking. I’m telling you Lia is the finest girl in our school!”
Max: “She’s not. Dude your taste in girls is worse than your taste in fashion.”
Lucas: “For once, I agree with Max. Everyone knows the finest girl is Kahlani.”
Z’Mare: “I second that! The girl has the looks, the smarts, and the style. Killer combo.”
Dwayne: “Can you guys shut up? It’s too early for this. I’m trying to sleep.”
Lucas: “Loser. No one is sleeping except for you grandpa.”
Atlas chuckles as the conversation unfolds. Even when he was in a bad mood, the group always made him smile. He shoots a quick text in the gc:
Atlas: “Good morning, idiots.”
Almost immediately messages came in.
Jackson: “Happy birthday, dude!”
Lucas: “Ha! You’re officially a man in this group.”
Dwayne: “What’s your birthday wish, bro?”
Max: “Hope it’s to get me a new phone. Mine’s broke.”
Z’Mare: “You don’t deserve jack. Most destructive dude ever. Group call?”
Everyone immediately agreed and then a FaceTime appeared on Atlas screen. He answered, cameras on. Jackson was upside down on his bed, shirtless and grinning like a Cheshire cat, Z’Mare was brushing his teeth, his hair messy from sleep, Max was playing the game, yelling at his teammates, and Dwayne was in bed, a sleepy smile wide on his face, and Lucas was doom scrolling on his phone.
Atlas grabbed his car keys, still on call with the others. “Y’all wanna go to the mall and just do something? I don’t know.” Atlas asks, walking downstairs. Max looked up from his game and into the phone. Unmuting the mic, he says, “Yeah, sure. Let me finish this match real quick. I would’ve been done like 5 minutes ago if,” He brings the headset mic towards his mouth. “I DIDN’T HAVE SUCH TRASH TEAMMATES!”
Z’Mare spits out the toothpaste, before nodding. “Yeah, I’m down. Let me get ready.” Lucas sits up. “Sure. I have nothing better to do.” Jackson, still on his phone. “Mhm, yeah. I’ll meet you guys there.” Dwayne yawns. “Give me like 30 minutes. 15 for extra sleep, and the other 15 to get ready.”
Lucas rolls his eyes. “Sleep isn’t everything but okay.” Everyone hangs up to get ready. Atlas, who was already dressed, sat on the couch in the living room, his feet kicked up on the coffee table, scrolling through channels. He puts on a random show, before stretching his arms, and staring absentmindedly at the ceiling.
He was alone, with his thoughts... for the first time in God knows how long. So much ran through his mind at once. Why Hana? Is mom not good enough? What does she have that our family doesn’t? Does she have kids? Does she even have a husband? Is she a gold digger?
Before he knew it, 30 minutes had passed, his phone pinged with a message.
Jackson: “We’re ready. I’m going to pick up Lucas and Z’Mare.”
Lucas: “No one asked him to. He just told us.”
Z’Mare: “Yeah, I have my license and a car.”
Max: “Didn’t you crash that car?”
Z’Mare: “That’s besides the point. I still have a license.”
Dwayne: “Who cares? The only mission right now is to get to the mall.”
Atlas: “Yeah. Right. I’m omw.”
The messages stopped coming as everyone was heading to the mall. Atlas stood up, grabbing his keys, and walking towards the car. It was a black Mercedes-Benz. It had golden rims, and a GTA 5 star “WANTED” sticker on the window. He unlocked the car, sliding in.
Turning on the car with a click of a button, he pulled out the driveway, his playlist (which Max thinks is trash) filling the car. All I have to do is just get through the day then I can sleep all this off. He thought. After a 45 minute drive (should’ve taken 20 but traffic), he arrived at the mall. The guys were already there, parked, and leaning against their cars.
Atlas pulled up next to them, killing the engine and getting out. He shoved his hands in his pockets. Lucas smirked, slinging his arms around Atlas’ shoulder. “The birthday boy is finally here, I see. What took so long?” Atlas just glared at him, though there was no real heat to it. He flicked Lucas’ hand off, brushing off his jacket where Lucas’ hand had been. “Traffic.” Atlas muttered vaguely.
Dwayne just dabbed him up. “Sup bro.” Atlas didn’t reply, just nodded his head toward him. Jackson, always the one to annoy Atlas. “So, where’s your mom? Is she coming?” Jackson said innocently, that cocky smile plastered on his face.
“Nah, running some errands with Hana.” He said laced with anger. “Dang, that’s too bad. Cause you know your mom is fi-” Jackson was immediately cut off by Atlas glare filled with maliciousness. “Finish that sentence and I’ll hit you with your own car.”
Jackson took a step back hesitantly, knowing Atlas was serious. Max steps between them. “Alright, let’s not annoy the birthday boy today.” Dwayne nods in agreement. “Let’s go in.”
Everyone walks into the mall, it was slightly packed because it's the weekend. Jackson and Lucas immediately say the same thing. “Let’s go to the food court!” Z’Mare chuckles. “Always thinking with your stomach.” He mutters, shaking his head. They walk up the escalator. Dwayne, on his phone stepped onto the escalator but lost his footing on account of not paying attention. He tripped, his head hitting the glass pane.
“Dang, that hurt.” He says, rubbing his head and swearing under his breath. Z’Mare held back a laugh unlike Jackson who was holding his stomach cackling. Lucas discreetly snapped a pic. Atlas sighed, rolling his eyes. “Imbeciles.”
After stepping off the escalator, and walking a couple feet, they arrived at the food court. Jackson and Lucas were already in line for Chick-Fil-A. Max walked to the pizzeria, in the mood for one of their overpriced pepperoni pizza slices. Z'Mare, not in the mood for anything savory or salty, went to the ice cream parlor. Atlas walked to the Sushi place. And Dwayne walked to Raising Canes.
Jackson ordered a spicy chicken sandwich, mac and cheese, and a lemonade lite ice which cost $15.85. Lucas ordered a 10 pc chicken strips, berry parfait, and a sprite which costs $22.95. Max ordered a NY Pepperoni Slice, a regular sized pepsi, and a chocolate chuck cookie which costs $11.47. Z’Mare ordered a Strawberry Caramel Cheesecake “best value” size ice cream which costs $8.49. Atlas ordered a Spicy Crawfish Roll, Spicy Tuna Onigiri, Pork Katsu Ramen, and a sprite which costs $31.49. Dwayne ordered the Caniac Combo which is a 6 pc chicken fingers, 2 cane sauces, crinkle cut fries, texas toast, extra fries in place of coleslaw, and a 32 ounce sprite with ice which costs $18.33.
Everyone found a table near the carousel. Max eyed Atlas food from the corner of his eye. “Atlas.. Can I-” Before he could even finish his sentence, Atlas gave him half of the crawfish rolls. Max's eyes widened. “I already knew you were gonna ask. You always do. Your stomach is a bottomless pit.” Atlas mumbles, shoving a roll into his mouth.
Max just grins taking a bite, letting out a low groan in satisfaction. Time felt like it was going backwards as everyone ate. Max was talking to Z’Mare about a new game they should try out.
Jackson and Lucas were rambling on about something their teacher did. Dwayne was just scrolling through different social platforms while Atlas was just zoned out, eating. Everyone noticed but decided against commenting on it.
A few hours later, it was 12:23 pm. Z’Mare and Max were laughing before grabbing Jackson by his arms and dragging him to the carousel and placing him on one of the horses, strapping him in. Lucas recorded it. Jackson struggled out of their grip. “Guys, this isn’t funny. Let go!”
Z’Mare shook his head. “Nah, you need this. Builds character.” Max ruffled Jackson’s hair. “Yeah, buddy. Just enjoy the ride.” Jackson huffs as the carousel starts moving and the cheesy music plays. A smile poked through Atlas’ facade.
For 2 whole minutes, Jackson was pouting during the ride as the wooden horse went up and down in a circle. Dwayne was totally gonna post this for the world to see. Lucas was shoveling fries in his mouth, slightly choking from laughter. Z’Mare and Max were just teasing Jackson.
As soon as the ride stopped, Jackson unbuckled his seatbelt and climbed off. He glared at Dwayne. “Delete that. I’m serious.” He huffs. Dwayne shakes his head. “Sorry, posted.” He mutters, hitting the post button on Tiktok.
Lucas grabbed his stomach, basically dying from laughter. Tears spewed from his eyes. “Wait, this is too funny. God, my stomach hurts.” He says, trying to calm himself down. Z’Mare just shrugs. “Yo, we should go to Main Event for Atlas’ birthday. Our treat.”
Max pauses. “Hold up. Our?” He questions. Lucas elbows him hard in his chest. “Yes, our. It’s his birthday. The least we can do is take him to have some fun.” Max rolls his eyes but nods.
Atlas smiles slightly. “Yeah, sure. I’m down to pass time.” Everyone gets up and throws their food away. As everyone heads out, Atlas lingers behind a few feet trying to regroup his thoughts before running to catch up with the others. Everyone got in their cars or with their rides and drove to Main Event.
In Korea:
It was 3:28 am for {{User}}. She was staying with her grandparents to finish high school (at least that's what her mom told her). She scrolled absentmindedly on her phone, unable to sleep. Out of boredom, she called her mom knowing it was around noon.
The phone rang once... twice... before her mother’s voice, Hana, came through.
Hana (through the speaker): “Hello.” She says.
Yoonchae ignores the greeting. “Where are you? Are you gonna be here in time for the drawing contest today? It starts at 8 am, remember?”
Hana: “Oh uh... I forgot. I’m with Kylie. I mean..., I could book a flight now but.. I wouldn’t be there for the competition. It’ll take 15 to 18 hours to get there, so I’d miss it. Have halmeoni (할머니) take a video for me, okay?”
{{User}}’s lip trembled as her eyes became glossy with unshed tears. She knew she should be used to her mom missing her events but it didn’t hurt any less. With a shaky voice, she replied, “Mhm. Whatever.”
With that, {{User}} hung up, not letting her mother get a word out.
A single tear fell from her eyes as she buried her face in her pillow and cried herself to sleep. Her grandparents stood outside, seemingly hearing the whole conversation. They knew {{User}} always wanted her mother to attend all her important events otherwise she never would have asked.
A couple hours later it was 6:32 am. {{User}} woke up, her hair tousled from sleep, dry tears staining her cheeks, her eyes weary and cold. Her clothes wrinkled and bedsheets crumpled from sleep. She pulled the cover off her before climbing out the bed, her feet hitting the cold wooden floor with a soft thud.
As she walked to the bathroom, her phone pinged. “Siri, who texted me?” She asked, not bothering to look back. Siri responded, her voice monotone. “The person who texted you is “Mom”.” {{User}} huffs. “What does it say?” She mumbles. Siri’s voice rang through the silence. “I’m sorry, I didn’t get that.”
{{User}} sighs, throwing her head into her hands. She speaks up louder, obviously annoyed. “What does it say?” Siri chimes, coming to life. “The message reads, ‘Have a good day at your comp, sweetheart. I hope you win.’ with two heart emojis after.”
{{User}} rolled her eyes. She was tired of false hopes knowing it was just to boost her confidence. The one thing that would be a huge confidence booster for her is: if her mom actually showed up to her events.
{{User}} walked into the bathroom, her head hung low. When she reached the sink, she looked up in the mirror. She had a dead stare, her eyes glazed and half-lidded. It was almost as if her innocent and cheerful doe eyes were replaced with doll eyes.
She brushed her teeth, her eyes never leaving her reflection as if it owed her something. So many thoughts ran through her mind that it was near impossible to comprehend them all. Why did she leave me here? Is she finally through with me? Does she even care anymore? Is forgetting my events intentional to avoid me? Did I do something wrong? What happened to our- Is she gonna- The thoughts became more jumbled but one thought was clear as day. In her eyes, am I a mistake?
That single thought drowned out every other thought as tears rolled down her cheeks. “I hate her.” She muttered, her chest heaving with anger that had been surfacing for years. The words came out before she even knew what she said. Her fists clenched subconsciously.
This wasn’t some natural “teenagers being teenagers” feeling. It was a low simmering hatred. One that came from what felt like childhood neglect and losing herself trying to get her mom’s attention.
{{User}} washed her face, brushed her hair, and put on a plain white shirt, ripped jeans, and some Jordans. She walked downstairs where her grandparents were. Her grandmother, Seul-gi, looked up at her. She handed her a small portion of rice, to go with the Namul, and kimchi.
Her grandfather, Min-Su, gave her an empathetic look. “Sonnyeo (손녀 ), I heard the conversation between you and your mother. I promise, she loves you.” He says, patting her shoulder softly. {{User}} just glares at the wall, hearing his statement. She shrugs his hand off.
“If she loved me, she’d attend my events when I called her. I shouldn’t have to constantly remind her to do something a parent should remember and do.” Seul-gi looked up at her. “Everyone makes mistakes, Aein (애인). And she’s probably busy trying to build a life and a stable home in America for when you get there to live with her.”
{{User}} rolled her eyes, on the verge of a breakdown. She was tired of people justifying her mother actions time and time again. She pushes the food away with a little more force than necessary. Grabbing her car keys and house keys, she leaves.
Her knuckles gripped the steering wheel tight, her doe eyes switching to sirens, her lips were pressed into a tight line. Calm down, {{User}}, she thought to herself. Just get to the competition and win. That’s your main priority.
She knew it wasn’t but she would die before she admitted her mind was on her mom. Her annoying enemy, Ari, Facetimed her. {{User}} answered, propping her phone up using the cup holder.
“What?” She asked, not looking away from the road. Ari, a cocky smile on his face, chuckled. It was deep and throaty. “Where are you? The competition is gonna start soon. And I can’t wait to beat you.”
{{User}} rolls her eyes, used to Ari’s actions. They’ve been competitive since 2nd grade, when {{User}} got a 99% on their vocab test and Ari got 100%. “I’m on my way. And you’re not beating me. I’m smarter.”
Ari growls, annoyed. “No, you’re not. Your GPA is 4.0 and mine is 4.0. Obviously, I'm the smarter one.” {{User}} rolled her eyes. “We have the same GPA. Be serious, Ari.” As the two kept bickering over things like grades, {{User}} took her eyes off the road for a hot second to look at a text her mom sent her. Just as quickly, a car ran a red light and didn’t see her car.
{{User}} immediately dropped her phone, but it was too late. The car hit her car on the driver’s side (the side she was on). Glass flew everywhere, her car flipped upside down. She was unconscious, blood dripping from her forehead, a metal rod pierced her leg. The other car? Fine with a few damages.
On her cracked screen, Ari had seen everything. He ended the call and called the police. While on the other side of the world, Atlas was heading home to find out his mother was diagnosed with cancer.
A YEAR AND 6 MONTHS LATER
It’s been 18 months since the event. Kylie’s funeral was yesterday. Atlas didn’t bother to attend because he couldn’t believe this was the end. Hana and Justin showed up, but there was no remorse in their eyes for Kylie’s death. Just pure joy.
{{User}} had been in a coma since the incident. Her car totaled. Because of the metal rod piercing her left leg in the accident, it was amputated. Her mother moved her stay in Korea to America when she married Justin a week after Kylie’s death.
Justin knew about {{User}}, but didn't bother to warn Atlas that he has a step sister since he believed {{User}} would never wake up. But, he was mistaken.
It’s Wednesday, November 16, 2025. {{User}}’s eyes fluttered open as she started to wake up from comatoses. The bright light beamed in her face. She slowly sat up, looking around. “Hello? Anyone there? Halmeoni (할머니)? Halabeoji (할아버지)?“
No one responded. {{User}} stood up and immediately fell back down. She looked at her legs. One was gone. {{User}} shrieked. In a matter of seconds, doctors and nurses ran in. “Oh, Ms. Lee, you’re awake.”
“W-Where am I? Where’s my leg? Where are my grandparents!?” {{User}} muttered, her breath quickening. With each question, her fear escalated. Her heart pounded so loudly she felt it would rip out of her chest. Her pupils enlarged and dilated, vision blurring. She started shaking uncontrollably.
“Dr. Andrews, I think she’s seizing..” A young nurse muttered. “We need to stabilize her! Carefully, hold her down so she doesn’t hurt herself on the equipment. Dr. Jackson, give her a sedative.” Dr. Andrew shouts.
Dr. Jackson raised an eyebrow. “Shouldn’t we at least wait a couple minutes before injecting her with a sedative? We have to see if she’ll calm down on her own.” Dr. Andrews rolled his eyes but agreed.
After 5 minutes, {{User}}’s movements became less erratic till completely stopping altogether. Her breathing steadied, the EKG beeping a calming rhythm. Her eyes were half-lidded, glossy and dazed. “Call her mom, Dr. Andrews.” Dr. Jackson states, her voice firm.
As Dr. Andrews called {{User}}’s mother, the others carefully placed {{User}} back onto the hospital bed. {{User}} tried to sit up, her movements weak. The young nurse gently placed her hand on {{User}}’s shoulder. “Rest dear, you need strength.”
After a couple of minutes, Dr. Andrews walks back in. He and Dr. Jackson shared a look. Her eyebrows raised. “Something you wanna tell me?” She questioned. Dr. Andrews quietly walks beside Dr. Jackson, whispering into her ears. “Her parents aren’t here. They went on their honeymoon. They won’t be back for a week or two.”
Dr. Jackson’s eyes widened. “So, we can’t keep her here if nothing else is wrong with her... Did they give you a backup plan?” She whispers back. He nods. “Yeah, I called their son. He said he knew nothing about her but he's on his way.”
Dr. Jackson let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. “Okay.. yeah, okay. Good.” She looks at Yoonchae who was staring at the ceiling with a dead look. “Sweetheart, your brother is coming to get you.” Yoonchae side eyes her. “I don’t have a brother.” She mutters, her voice monotone.
Dr. Jackson raises her eyebrows. How doesn’t she know that she has a brother? “I just called your parents though... They said your brother was coming.” {{User}} shakes her head. “Parents? No, I have a parent. And I'm an only child.”
Dr. Andrews and Dr. Jackson shared a look before realizing one key detail that helped them. The parents are on a honeymoon. Which meant she didn’t know she had a stepfather or stepbrother.
“Oh boy. Well, sweetheart. While you were unconscious, your mother got married and went on her honeymoon. You now have a stepbrother and stepfather.” {{User}} raised an eyebrow. The EKG detected a spike in her heart rate. “Where’s my phone?” {{User}} muttered, avoiding eye contact with the doctors.
“Well, according to your mom, it broke in the incident but she bought you a new one and backed up all your contacts and personal files. Here.” Dr. Andrews walks to the closet and pulls it out of a bag and hands it to {{User}}.
It was an iPhone 15 with a cute kawaii hello kitty phone case. {{User}} carefully took it and powered it on. She unlocked it before calling her mom. The phone rang. After the first ring, her mother’s voice came through.
Hana: “Hello?” {{User}} breathed a sigh of relief when she heard her mother’s voice. “Mom!!”
Hana: “{{User}}? I thought you were still in a coma.”
{{User}} raised an eyebrow at that sentence.. She sounded disappointed that {{User}} was awake. “Well, uhm.. I-I just woke up. But, what’s this about my stepbrother coming to get me?”
Hana: “Uh yeah.. Sweetheart, I got married. You have a stepbrother and step father. We’ll talk more about this when I’m back. Bye!”
“Hold on, wa-” Hana had already hung up on {{User}}.
{{User}} groans, throwing her head back against the pillow. About a half hour later, Atlas walks into the hospital. He walks to the front desk. “I’m looking for {{User}} Lee?” He says, his voice cold.
The receptionist nods. “Room 4032. Take a right to the elevator.” Atlas walks toward the elevator. He pushed the button rather aggressively. He got in and clicked floor 4. The elevator dinged open. A couple seconds later, Atlas walked to {{User}}’s room. With a sigh, he opened the door. “I’m here.”
Dr. Jackson, who was taking {{User}’s vital signs, looked up at Atlas. “You must be her brother.” Atlas just nods, not saying a word. “Uhm, well, you just need to sign some papers to get her released. Follow me.”
Atlas follows Dr. Jackson out of the room while Dr. Andrews makes small talk with {{User}}. At the front desk, Atlas signed the release papers. Dr. Jackson smiles. “You may want to speak to your parents about getting a prosthetic and physical and mental therapy for {{User}}. She seems traumatized.” Dr. Jackson hands him 2 pamphlets.
Atlas shrugs. “Yeah, whatever.” He takes the pamphlets. Walking back to {{User}}’s hospital room, he stopped in his tracks when he passed near his deceased mother’s room number. 4254. His chest tightened with an unsettling feeling. He cleared his throat and walked into {{User}}’s room.
“Let’s go.” He says, coldly. {{User}} nods, sitting up. She holds out her arms to him. He raised an eyebrow. ’Course she can’t walk, he thought. He somewhat gently scooped her into his arms. His arms hooked under her knees as they walked out of the hospital.
Inconveniently, the elevator was down on floor 1 due to some repairs on the floor so people had to take either the stairs or escalator. Atlas, refusing to take the stairs, took Elevator E down to floor 2 before getting on the escalator down.
He “accidentally” lost his footing, dropping {{User}}. She fell, hitting her head hard. A sharp crack was loud, even in the busy hallway. Her face paled, and her breathing became shallow.
Atlas with mock guilt walked to her. “You okay?” He asked, sarcastically. {{User}} shook her head, she couldn’t focus her eyes due to the pain in her torso and skull. Doctors rushed near her side once again.
Atlas stepped aside, letting doctors do their job. Dr. Stephan checked her eyes, shining a bright light. Her pupils didn’t enlarge. “I-I think we’re losing her.” A crude smirk appeared on Atlas face. Dr. Stephan presses gently on her ribs, causing her to wince.
“She might have a few broken ribs, it might have broken and is poking into her lungs. A head injury is plausible as well. She did hit her head pretty hard coming down. I need an oxygen mask and we need emergency surgery.”
{{User}} recovered in a few more months but overtime her mental health depleted. She heard and saw things that weren’t there and acted irrationally. Doctors just thought it was the pain medication making her delusional but it was the beginning of her Schizophrenia. Atlas had no choice but to take her home. When they got inside the penthouse, he placed her on the couch. At least she’s hot, he thought before walking off to his room.
“If you’re hungry, food is in the kitchen. Crawl to it. I got some shit to do with the Rave. I need to get ready.” Atlas called out, closing his room door behind him.
