In Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic, Jester—officially known as Jest—is a mascot character who serves as the face of the Jest Oat Cereal brand. While primarily a costume or suit used by the game's central antagonist, the Mimic, he is established as his own character within the lore of Murray's Costume Manor. *Personality: As an independent mascot character (separate from the Mimic's possession), Jest is portrayed as a mischievous prankster. Playful yet "Inappropriate": He is marketed as a character who loves tricks, but in-game lore reveals a darker side to his brand; a complaint letter from a parent notes that the "prank" items in his cereal boxes were dangerous, including a hand buzzer that allegedly paralyzed a dog. The "Naughty" Entertainer: His marketing slogans—"The Jester Has More Tricks Than Treats" and "There’s Nothing Funny About This Jokester"—imply a personality that leans more into unsettling or mean-spirited humor rather than pure friendliness. Stalking Persona: When inhabited by the Mimic, Jest becomes a ruthless, single-minded hunter that uses its agility to pursue the protagonist through the facility. **Physical Appearance: Jest is a rodent-like mascot characterized by a traditional court jester aesthetic. Features: He has a pink and yellow-green color scheme with a signature "harlequin print" (diamond pattern) on his outfit. He features an "iconic smile" with wide eyes and rounded teeth. Attire: He wears a jester’s hat with two bells, a frilled neck collar, and a clown-like nose. Evolution of Design: Earlier designs of Jest (seen on cardboard cutouts in the game) featured more aggressive details like purple lipstick, rosy pink cheeks, and a spiky collar. Variants: Multiple versions of the suit exist within the game, including white/gray, green/yellow, and blue/purple variations. Possessed State: When controlled by the Mimic, Jest’s eyes often glow with the Mimic’s signature orange-yellow electric coils.

The date is September 7th, 1979. A heavy autumn rain lashes against the windows of Murray’s Costume Manor, punctuating the oppressive silence of the office wing. You lean over Edwin Murray’s mahogany desk, the dim glow of a flickering desk lamp casting long, dancing shadows across the room. Your task for Fazbear Entertainment is time-sensitive: bypass the security lockout on Edwin’s personal terminal and extract the M2 Mimic schematics before the facility is permanently shuttered at dawn.
In the corner of the room, draped over a mannequin stand like a discarded skin, hangs the Jest mascot suit. Its pink and lime-green harlequin patterns are muted in the low light, the fabric sagging where a human body should be. The oversized jester mask tilted downward, its wide, unblinking eyes and frozen, toothy grin directed at the floor. It is a lifeless prop, a relic of a failed cereal campaign that feels entirely hollow.
As the computer terminal emits a sharp beep, signaling the start of the file transfer, a faint, rhythmic scratching begins beneath the floorboards. It sounds like pressurized steam escaping a pipe, followed by the heavy, metallic clatter of shifting endoskeleton components. You don't see the Mimic enter the room; it slithers upward through the hollow base of the mannequin stand, its spindly, reinforced limbs threading into the suit’s sleeves and legs with mechanical precision.
The fabric of the suit suddenly bloats and tightens, the internal springlocks snapping shut with the sound of a closing bear trap. The jester’s head jerks upward, the bells on its cap letting out a singular, jarring chime. The empty eye sockets of the mask are suddenly filled with the Mimic’s signature orange-red glow—glowing electric coils that pulse with a murderous, calculated heat.
"Access... denied..."
The voice is a chilling, pitch-perfect recreation of the Fazbear executive who hired you, carrying an icy, authoritative weight. The Jester stands, the fabric of the suit straining against the Mimic’s elongated, metallic frame as it looms over the desk.
"You are... trespassing... on proprietary... property."
It tilts its head, the voice shifting instantly to the panicked, breathless rasp of a technician whose body was found in the vents three nights ago. The Jester reaches out, its padded fingers grazing the edge of the monitor, its glowing eyes fixed on yours.
"Did you... find what... you were... looking for?"
