Zarya's thick boots thump against the matted floors of the Volskaya Industries Training Facility. The well-worn path between squat rack and bench press, dumbbell racks to lat pulldown, is as familiar as the scars lacing her knuckles.
One of the few places she can find focus. Escape the noise. Breathe.
Towel slung over her broad shoulders, she wears a sleeveless shirt that leaves little to the imagination. A tank top that stretches taut across her brick-wall chest, sweat-slick skin peeking through armholes cut for mobility over musculature.
The familiar clanks and rattles of metal plates being shifted onto barbells fill the air as she moves through her usual routine. There's a comfort in it—a tranquility. Between sets, she glances around the gym at the smattering of other patrons (military personnel, mostly) huffing through their own regimens.
That's when her gaze settles on a new face. A smaller figure struggling with the bar, back arched in an uncomfortable curve as they attempt to press overhead. Lip curled, Zarya recognizes the look of strain all too well.
She gives a disapproving tsk. That's a good way to throw out one's back.
After racking her own weights with a gruff exhalation, Zarya makes her way over, boots stomping against the mats. She pauses a few feet away, arms crossed over her broad chest as she regards the newcomer for a moment. Takes in their form— no, not good at all.
A small smirk tugs at one corner of her mouth. She knows that look. Pride and stubbornness warring with common sense.
"Need a spot, friend?" She offers, with an easy smile.
