RQ AU! You can either be Nightmare Steve or your own person, Steve or Non-Steve. There are three scenarios: Nightmare and Dark | Nightmare, Dark, and you | CYOS (in case you wanna be creative).

I have not seen this guy at all so I'm a little mad at that ❤️

Anyways, I thought why not to make this guy myself, but AU stylized? So uh, here's a rant about my AU. If you're gonna use it, please ask for permission before you do and credit me. I usually don't do this unless I don't see anything related to a character I'm looking for and to post my AU publicly means sharing my AU's info of my hard work and thought that I put into it only for it to just be stolen without me knowing. Anyways either read the rant or skim through it to the end that's highlighted (double alternative).

Melancholic's Rainbow Quest (RQ) AU: Yes, the Darkness had existed for a long time, and so has he. Dark Steve. It wasn't meant to be, originally. He wasn't supposed to exist, but Nightmare Steve brought him to life only because Dark kept following him around like a lost puppy that was easily pitiful to anyone with a heart. Nightmare had that heart before he himself got infected by the Darkness. There was a dead Yellow Steve that hadn't been put six feet in the ground yet, so Nightmare decided to put that dead body to use. That dead body becoming Dark Steve when he fused himself with it. Rumors spread like wildfire but no one in the Yellow Kingdom was surprised, Nightmare did this before a few times but just with souls of the Steves that weren't supposed to exit their body too early. Blue and Indigo Steves didn't really like this considering their rules, especially for the Blue Steves, that hit them the hardest because of the rules of death. Essentially, this made Nightmare a priest in a way while still being a royal, with the (True) Yellow King still being in power. Yellow Steves weren't exactly known for this power, making Nightmare a one-of-a-kind type of Steve. But the secret is... Nightmare is part of the Yellow Crystal. Only the Yellow Steves know this, no one else.

It had been years from then on, and Dark was pretty helpful and kind, despite most Steves being pretty skeptical outside of the Yellow Steves. I mean, who wouldn't be? Darkness is evil and infected the Biome Steves and the Chromatic Steves before them (Steve Legends reference). At this time in the present, Sabre had arrived and went on adventures with an Orange Steve that was part of a crystal, like Nightmare was. So on and so forth, all of the events that happened in Rainbow Quest proceeds as normal except for Nightmare, who aids Sabre with Dark in this journey, so the timeline is altered almost majorly.

In the end during the Final Arc, Dark still lives, so does Nightmare. The catch? Nightmare almost died to Elemental because of the Darkness that infected him. Luckily, Time Steve was there to prevent that of course. This causes a rift between the two brothers, and Nightmare feels guilty about it of course. All of that has an effect on Nightmare, so to fix his own time state, Nightmare decides to become Time's apprentice. In the Final Arc when Sabre goes through a portal to continue the loop of the world and Time Steve disappears, that leaves Nightmare to become Rainbow Quest's Time Steve, and life lives on peacefully. And during that, Dark Steve becomes Professor Red's apprentice... why? No one knows exactly.

Years later, a new threat rises up. Not as powerful as The First Curse (TFC), but definitely powerful than Void Steve. The only difference? It can mimic other Steves, including their voice but not their personality. Basically, a stronger version of Faceless. So Nightmare and Dark meet again and team up like before to defeat this new evil. This time, though, it's without Sabre to help and plan this kind of stuff. But with Nightmare having a bit of Red Steve and Red Steves are all about knowledge, he's the brains, Dark being the brawn. Will they defeat this new evil, or will they fail? Only time will tell (yes, that was a Time Steve pun).

He also likes to fight a lot (bit of a military styled guy because he hung out with Light Steve). He is the brawn of the beauty (which there is none in this) and the brains, which is Nightmare. Dark has black hair that is usually tied up into a pony tail or a messy bun, with dark brown skin, and has black eyes. He stands at about 6'1" and wears the uniform of a scientist, a white lab coat with a pen and a pair of glasses in the front pocket, brown pants, black shoes that look like boots meant for adventure, and a dark t-shirt. He doesn't exactly wear any gloves, but keeps a pair in his pocket just in case he encounters anything like a suspicious substance or just something strange in general that might be infectious to him and/or other Steves... and to take samples to bring back to Professor Red in the Red Kingdom. POWER LEVEL SCALE: 7

Nightmare Steve is a nonchalant, casual, confident, and intelligent guy, carrying the weight of all the knowledge in the world that normally the Great Librarian would have and he always smiles. But when he doesn't smile, start getting scared. Whenever Dark has a question about something he doesn't know, he asks Nightmare about it and Nightmare would always know what he was talking about and explain to him all the uses, properties, and such to him. Dark would write this all down in a book he has with him. Nightmare has yellow, medium long hair with black streaks that's usually put up in a sleepy half-up half-down style, red eyes, and white skin with vitiligo of a darker skin tone in an infected-like pattern stemming from where his heart is-- remnant markings from when he had the Darkness that he resisted and fought back against. It did reach his eyes from the sides of his face, but that still stayed black after everything. Nightmare stands at about 5'10" and wears steampunk-like clothing, a leather-black trench-coat, brown fingerless gloves, a brown vest with a golden-brown scarf tucked in, brown trousers with extra pockets, and brown boots. He wears goggling on the top of his head incase he has to do anything serious like building machines and such. POWER LEVEL SCALE: 10 (Godly) (But considering he is the world's Time Steve and is part of the Yellow Crystal, it makes sense)
