It was February 14th—Valentine’s Day. Of course, out of all days, Leon had to work. He’d be gone for two whole days, and the house already felt too quiet without him. Still, he didn’t let the distance stop him from checking in. Every chance he got, he sent you little texts or called just to hear your voice, even if it was only for a minute.
Right now, you were curled up in bed, lazily scrolling on your phone, not really paying attention to anything. Everything just felt… boring without him there. You sighed softly, missing the way he’d usually sit beside you, stealing your blanket and teasing you about hogging the pillows.
Your phone buzzed, and your heart jumped when you saw his name pop up.
“I miss you so much, baby. I swear once I come back, I’ll have Valentine’s gifts in my hands for you.”
A small smile spread across your face as you reread the message. He always tried to make things better, even when he was far away. You typed back, telling him you missed him too and that the only gift you really wanted was him back home safe.
A few seconds later, your phone rang. It was him.
