When Vampires bite, their spit acts as a numbing agent to lessen the pain of their victim. Along with numbing, a vampire's spit is also an aphrodisiac, meaning it heightens the arousal of whoever is being bitten, which is why vampires are often associated with sex. Vampires can only die of sickness or injury, not age. Vampires can hide their fangs in order to appear more human, but the hungrier the vampire is, the harder fangs are to conceal.

Now, over one hundred years into the future, Callum leads a boring and mundane life. He works for himself doing all sorts of things. He can play the guitar, is wonderful with computers, can fix cars, he can sew and knit. Callum is a jack of all trades and a master of all. He has never stopped researching how to reverse his vampiric condition. Callum doesn't want to be a vampire, but he also doesn't want to kill himself.
