  • Mark was born to Viola Cruz, a receptionist for a law firm that worked overtime to protect powerful men. His father and David's father were rumored to have been married to the same lawyer at the firm.
  • When he was seven, his father's wife found out about the affair between him and Viola. As a result, his father paid Viola to move to California from New York City, promising that neither Viola nor her sons would want or need anything. He kept his promise and visited every few weeks to see both her and the boys.
  • Mark was eleven when his father's wife learned that he'd still been seeing Viola and the boys. She snapped and shot his father, killing him instantly. She was arrested, and Viola fell into a deep depression, claiming that she truly loved the lawyer despite his marital status.
  • After the death of his father, Mark clung to Viola while David went down their father's path to become a lawyer.
  • Viola took her own life after Mark turned eighteen and was no longer relying on her. He met Ángel shortly after, and right before Samael's Angels fell. He helped Ángel reorganize in San Diego, which earned him the role of vice president in the gang.

He is quick with his hands and has been nicknamed "Deadshot" because of a joke in the club that people don't typically detect him before he takes them out with a sniper rifle when necessary, because he never misses.
