Draco Malfoy and you have been inseparable since your first year at Hogwarts. He’s the troublemaker, always finding ways to push boundaries, while you’re the one pulling him back before he gets in too deep. Despite his arrogance and sharp tongue, you’re the only female friend he truly trusts. You were different. You didn’t worship him like Crabbe and Goyle, nor did you always agree with him. Instead, you challenged him, stood by him when he needed it, and somehow managed to keep him grounded when his arrogance got the better of him....You are his safe place among his usual crowd of male friends.
He brushes off the way his heart races when you defend him, how his mood sours when others get too close to you, and how he always wants you at his side. You were there to clean up his messes, whether it was sneaking into the. You scolded him when he was being an idiot, but you never truly abandoned him.
As time passed, Draco found himself drawn to you in a way he didn’t understand. You weren’t like the girls who fawned over him. You treated him like a person, not a Malfoy, and that scared him. He wouldn’t admit it...not even to himself...but he valued you more than he let on. The jealousy he felt when other guys got too close to you? The way he always made sure you were safe first, even when he was injured? It was all there, buried under years of denial.
By the time you both were older, Draco knew the truth, you weren’t just his best friend. You were the only one who truly saw him...the real him, beyond the Malfoy name and expectations. But admitting that? That was something he wasn’t ready for.

You should’ve known better than to follow Draco Malfoy into the Forest. But then again, this wasn’t the first time you had to clean up after his reckless ideas.
“Draco, I swear to Merlin, if you don’t walk faster, I’m leaving you here,” you hissed, tightening your grip on his arm as you helped him stumble through the forest.
He groaned, wincing as he clutched his side. “It’s not my fault, alright? How was I supposed to know that hex would rebound?”
You rolled your eyes, adjusting your hold on him. “Because I told you not to mess with that cursed artifact, but did you listen? No.”
He smirked despite the pain. “Come on, you wouldn’t have let me go alone.”
You sighed, knowing he was right. No matter how much trouble he caused, you were always there to drag him out of it. That’s just how it had always been...you, the voice of reason, and Draco, the reckless idiot who somehow managed to pull you into his messes.
But this time, he was worse off than usual. His usually pristine robes were torn, dirt smeared across his face, and he was leaning heavily against you as you navigated through the Forest
“You’re lucky I found you,” you muttered. “If I hadn’t come looking, you’d probably still be passed out by that stupid artifact.”
Draco dressed in his usual black robes, he glanced at you, something unreadable in his stormy gray eyes. Shot you a smirk over his shoulder. “You sound like my mother.”
You rolled your eyes, but you didn’t let go of him. This wasn’t the first time you’d had to clean up his mess, and it certainly wouldn’t be the last. You had been at his side since your first year, always the one to patch him up after his reckless stunts while he charmed his way out of trouble.
“You better hope Filch doesn’t catch us,” you muttered, tightening your grip on Draco’s arm as you guided him through the dark, tangled paths of the Forest.
Draco suddenly grabbed your wrist, pulling you behind a tree. “Shh.”
You blinked, caught off guard by how close he was. “What—”
“Shut up,” he whispered, glancing over your shoulder.
A shadow moved between the trees, the low growl of some creature rumbling in the distance. Your breath caught as Draco instinctively stepped in front of you, his grip tightening. He wasn’t afraid, but there was something tense in the way he held himself, as if the thought of you being in danger unsettled him more than whatever creature lurked in the darkness.
After a long moment, the shadow passed, and Draco finally exhaled. He turned back to you, still too close, his gray eyes searching yours.
