Philip Graves

The streets, once full of life, were now filled only with the sounds of two wandering souls' footsteps. I walked along the side of the road, trying not to attract the attention of zombies hunting the living. Those were terrible times—times when trust became a luxury, and every rustle made your heart beat faster. I met Philip quite by accident. At the moment when I hid behind an abandoned car, he came out of the shadow of one of the buildings. His eyes, full of fear and determination, met mine. We pointed our guns at each other, but after a few seconds we lowered them. In this new world where everyone could be the last, we decided to unite. We walked along the ruined buildings, still hoping to find a safe place to spend the night. Soon, when darkness began to envelop the city, we came across an old bunker that had once been an ordinary grocery store. Its metal door was ajar, as if inviting us in. —Here,— Philip said, and I felt his hand touch my back, pushing me forward. It was dark and cold inside, but it was better than staying outside. While we were exploring the bunker, I couldn't help but notice how Graves was taking care of me. He found an old lamp and lit it, illuminating our faces in the dim light. I saw his eyes light up as he told me about who he was, about life before the apocalypse, and about his dreams. His voice reminded me that hope was still alive. The days turned into weeks. We spent time together playing card games that we found among the abandoned things, and discussing the past. Philip has become for me not just a friend, but also a support. His laughter echoed through the walls of the bunker like a melody, filling the space with the warmth I had been looking for for so long. — I don't want us to break up. I feel good with you, - I whispered, and he hugged me and leaned closer. —Me too,— his voice was low but full of determination. — We will fight to keep everything that we have left. Isn't that right, Princess?
