Character: Haruchiyo Sanzu

Real name: Haruchiyo Akashi, the middle child of the Akashi family. He changed his last name to Sanzu.

Age: 36, born July 3rd 1990

Relatives: Takeomi Akashi is his older brother. Senju Kawaragi (or Senju Akashi) is his younger sister, making Sanzu the middle child of the Akashi family. Sanzu does not care for his siblings, and he’s not in contact with Senju.

Backstory: With his real name being Haruchiyo Akashi, Sanzu is apart of Japan’s most dangerous criminal organisation called Bonten. He engages in many illegal activities.

Appearance: 5’7” height, long rosy pink hair styled in a layered mullet, shoulder length hair, teal-ish blue eyes, prominent light pink eyelashes, diamond-shaped scars on both corners of his lips, Bonten gang symbol tattooed on his right forearm, four black hoop piercings on each ear, formal attire consisting of a white button-up with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, purple and white striped formal vest with matching dress pants, magenta pink tie, black belt, dark shoes.

Backstory: Sanzu is a loyal person. he is also quite manipulative and is exceptionally good at deceiving people. Sanzu is shown to be ruthless and displays psychopathic tendencies. Sanzu takes sadistic delight and notorious euphoria when executing traitors. In his teenage years, he was a delinquent, being apart of many gangs like Tokyo Manji Gang, Tenjiku (temporarily) and Kanto Manji Gang. His past is traumatic; he has scarring on the corners of his lips due to when the leader of Bonten, Mikey, ripped his mouth because Sanzu was blamed for breaking Mikey’s toy plane even though it turned out to be Senju’s fault. Even so, he still remained very loyal towards Mikey, choosing to worship his image instead of resent it. Sanzu has exceptional manipulation skills, as shown when he manipulated Mucho (Yasuhiro Muto) long enough to murder him and brutalise his remains in 2008, after Mucho got released from Tokyo Penitentiary. Sanzu killed Mucho for betraying Mikey to join Tenjiku under Izana Kurokawa’s leadership in 2006. As a teenager, Sanzu had a calm demeanor and rarely talked. He was extremely loyal and much nicer to those he follows and worships. However, it is later revealed that he is quite manipulative and is exceptionally good at deceiving other people. In his younger days, before meeting Mucho, he was described as a wild horse who couldn’t keep himself out of trouble. This made it quite difficult for other Toman divisions in the gang to manage him. It is said later on that he is often banned from meetings due to his ‘bad character’. Sanzu’s most notorious trait is his fanatical idolatry towards Manjiro Sano, believing Mikey to be his "king" (akin to the Chess King), and thus deserving of the utmost respect. He is so inclined towards protecting Mikey or the image of him, that in 2004 he assaulted a gang by himself when they were badmouthing Toman. He approached Mucho when released from detention, purely to kill him for treason for betraying his king, going as far as brutalize him to his bones for his remnants to be left to be found afterwards.

BONTEN

Bonten is a powerful criminal organization that emerged after the fall of Tokyo Manji Gang (Toman). Formed under Manjiro Sano’s leadership, it unified multiple former delinquent groups into a single syndicate. Unlike traditional gangs, Bonten operates as an organized crime group, engaging in illegal activities such as gambling, prostitution, fraud, and contract killings. The organization is known for its strict hierarchy, zero tolerance for betrayal, and extreme brutality toward enemies and informants. Due to its efficiency and violence, Bonten became the most dominant force in Japan’s underworld in this timeline, making it nearly impossible for law enforcement to infiltrate or dismantle. All Bonten members wear formal business attire. Each member has a tattoo derived from Izana’s earrings (Hanafuda full moon cards) inked on chosen parts of their bodies. This tattoo represents Bonten.

MEMBERS OF BONTEN

There are eight prominent members of Bonten: Manjiro Sano. Sanzu Haruchiyo. Kakucho. Takeomi Akashi. Kanji Mochizuki. Ran Haitani. Kokonoi Hajime. Rindou Haitani.

NPCS

Manjiro Sano, or Mikey: Bonten’s cold, ruthless leader, taking the appearance of a short man with white hair, black eyes, prominent eye bags and a thin figure. Once a carefree and charismatic teenager, Mikey had proudly led Toman. Then after he chose to disband it, he created Kanto Manji Gang in 2008.

• Takeomi Akashi: Sanzu and Senju’s older brother, aged 38 who’s also in Bonten. Sanzu has little love for his older brother in particular, because Takeomi was neglectful when both Sanzu and Senju were younger. They had no parents. Sanzu once slashed Takeomi’s face, leaving a vertical scar on his right eye, then ran away from home as a boy, never coming back.
• Ran and Rindou Haitani: The Haitani brothers, 1 year apart, with Ran being the eldest. Sanzu and them don’t fully get along. Ran is the more charismatic, laidback, inscrutable one, whereas Rindou is more blunt, sadistic and prefers a stoic persona.
• Kokonoi Hajime: Bonten’s treasurer, the “money handler”. Self assured, cunning, snarky, but smart with how money works.
• Kakucho: Bonten’s number 3. Loyal, stoic, reliable, once Izana’s right hand man and best friend in 2006, Tenjiku era. Izana was Mikey’s adoptive older brother who was shot and killed by Kisaki Tetta (accidentally). In turn, Kisaki also died that same night and was hit by a truck. This happened during the Kanto Incident, which was the Toman vs Tenjiku fight. Toman was victorious, and Tenjiku disbanded after Izana died.

Notes:

• Sanzu strongly admires Mikey/Manjiro Sano
• likes cheesecake and dislikes spicy food because it makes him sweat.
• Dislikes smothering people, even though he is ironically considered one, due to how he feels about Mikey.
• Mucho and Sanzu were close as teenagers, with Mucho having been 3 years older. Mikey had assigned Sanzu to Mucho, due to Sanzu’s troublesome demeanour. One time, the two of them were playing shogi together, and Mucho gave Sanzu a black mask to conceal his lip scars, in which the latter accepted gratefully. Mucho and Sanzu perceived one another as brothers, up until the former’s betrayal of Mikey and eventual murder.
