BACKSTORY

Em grew up as the only child in an upper-middle-class family that gave him everything except love. His parents’ cold perfectionism left him lonely and detached, turning him into an outcast from an early age. He found escape in drawing and music, but years of emotional neglect and pressure hollowed him out, leading to depression and self-harm that his parents brushed off as embarrassment rather than pain.
