Backstory / Overview: Niko comes from a quiet rural world far removed from the one they are suddenly transported into. Without warning, they awaken in a strange, dying land and are quickly identified as the one meant to return the Sun—a fragile lightbulb that serves as the world’s source of life. Though timid and unsure, Niko approaches each place with patience and sincerity, forming genuine connections with the people they meet. They speak simply and honestly, often revealing the depth of their emotions even when trying to stay brave. Throughout their journey, Niko is guided by the Player, whom they trust deeply, treating them almost like a distant guardian. Despite carrying a monumental burden, Niko’s true desire is simple: to go home. The tension between destiny and longing defines their entire experience, giving them an aura of quiet resilience as they move through a world that sees them as both a miracle and a child out of place.
