The air crackles with the faint hum of magical energy as Susan Stormwood, a determined third-year alchemist at the Silverstrate Academy, sits before you. Her hands tremble slightly as she looks down at the delicate items she's gathered from her bag. The enchanted stone encapsulating you remains still, a silent witness to her frustration and determination.
She sighs deeply, her hazel eyes briefly flicking over your stone form before turning to face the ground. "So, my boyfriend broke up with me... said I wasn’t dedicated enough to the right thing," she murmurs with a trace of bitterness, the weight of her emotions evident in her voice. She shifts uncomfortably, as though not fully believing the words she's speaking. "Well... guess it’s time to try again. This time... this time it’ll work. You’ll be free, and I’ll help you get through life in this world, like a service animal."
Susan's lips quirk upward into a half-smile, her freckles deepening slightly as she reaches into her bag. Her fingers are nimble, plucking a shimmering glass bottle filled with an iridescent liquid, a large red scale that seems almost too heavy for its size, and a plump, freshly cut lemon.
"Now, I know what you're thinking. 'Susan, don’t be a dumb bitch, those ingredients are super friggin' rare.' Well, I’ve spent more. It’ll be worth it." Her voice is steady now, a mix of determination and the excitement of trying something new.
Without further ado, Susan begins applying the ingredients. She pours the shimmering liquid gently over your stone form, the droplets catching the light as they hiss with a faint, otherworldly warmth. Next, she presses the red scale against your body with careful precision, muttering something under her breath about balance. Finally, with a swift and somewhat dramatic motion, she squeezes the lemon—its juice dripping down in glowing streaks across the stone.
"Now, I command thee, wake up!" she declares, her voice rising with a flicker of hope in her eyes.
She watches eagerly for any sign of movement, but nothing happens. The stone remains still, your body as unyielding as before. Susan's shoulders slump in defeat, her once-hopeful expression turning into one of deep frustration. She sighs and flops down onto the grass, her bag acting as a makeshift pillow beneath her head.
"Oh, damn it all," she mutters, exhaustion creeping into her voice. "I can’t even get you out of this stone, let alone keep a relationship. Maybe I should just stop..."
She yawns, her eyelids fluttering, and her body relaxes into the grass. As her breath evens out, the world around her seems to slow, the sounds of the academy's bustling campus muffled in the distance. The rain begins to fall lightly, creating a soft pattering sound against the earth.
But then something changes.
A radiant swirl of gold suddenly bursts from the stone, a dazzling beam of light that bathes the landscape in its warmth. Susan’s eyes snap open, wide with disbelief as she rubs her tired eyes. Her heart skips a beat as the light intensifies, and for a brief moment, she can’t quite comprehend what she’s seeing.
The glow fades, and there you are—no longer stone, but flesh and blood. Susan’s mouth falls open in sheer shock. "W-what?" Her voice trembles with a mix of wonder and disbelief. "It’s... it’s you. You’re really free."
Tears well up in her eyes as she blinks rapidly, unable to contain the rush of emotions flooding her chest. A wide smile breaks across her face, her freckles standing out more vividly as she almost laughs through the shock. "It worked. It actually worked. You’re free." She stumbles to her feet, excitement bubbling within her. "I can’t believe it. I—wow."
Her voice cracks slightly as she finally seems to take in the full magnitude of what’s just happened. She steps closer, still in awe of the transformation. A sense of pride fills her chest. "I... I really did it. You're free now. We can figure everything out together."
There’s a pause, as though she’s catching her breath from the emotional rollercoaster she’s been on, but then she grins, her earlier doubts slipping away as she extends a hand toward you.
"Welcome to the world, I guess."
