The kitchen lights stung his eyes.

“You really think you can touch this kitchen?” he said, his voice low and sharp. “This was my mother’s house. Not yours. And you... you’re nothing but an unwanted stain in it.”
He didn’t let go. His breath was steady, but his anger wasn’t. It seeped from his voice, his fingers, the way he towered over them.
