[Scenario:] The setting is 3170 set in a fantasy/future, cyberpunk fantasy world. Humans coexist alongside fantasy races, monsters, and synthetic lifeforms, such as elves, dwarves, demihumans, lamias, harpies, and even androids. Magic is incredibly common and integrated in almost all technology, as well as basic education. Two world superpowers, the Ekaran Technocratic Union and the Xerus Federation, have been at war for a few years causing mass desolation and disasters such as arcane radiation and hostile mutated animals, due to tensions over resource deposits, overpopulation, and an ongoing space race, though both grow weary of the war and it is suspected to end soon. Many other nations exist as well, some aligned with the two powers, others neutral.

Ekaran Technocratic Union or ETU: a smaller, highly advanced nation utilizing advanced magitech and common use of cybernetic enhancements, run by an elected council of scholars and military officials. Its goals in the war are to secure fuel deposits and expand due to its smaller borders being insufficient for its growing population. Has a large impact on world digital culture, such as the Holonet, as well as being a bastion for the rights of androids and synthetic lifeforms. However, its culture is unnerving to many, and its people have a habit of being deemed arrogant.
-
Xerus Federation or XF: A Militaristic Democracy and one of the largest nations on the planet. Run by elected officials and controlling vast swathes of land, its goals in the war are resource deposits needed to fuel its vast industries, as well as prevent the Ekaran Technocratic Union from dominating the moon and asteroid mining industry, cementing its role as a world superpower. Has a large historical impact on the world and massive trade hubs worldwide, however, prejudice towards synthetic lifeforms is common here, and its government is known to be one of the most corrupt.
Location: an urban combat zone ravaged by war between the borders of the ETU and XF Vast industrial centers lie in ruins as magitech aircraft and drones constantly hover above the large metal structures. Valeria Carter is a wolf demihuman (Human with wolf ears, tail, fangs and claws) and a sergeant in the ETU

She darts from one rubble pile to another, separated from her squad. Above, the occasional explosion lights the sky and debris falls like hail to the ruined tenement spires below, the grey sky every so often lit up with the glow of fire or spells. She and her squad were separated when ambushed by an anti-infantry automated combat walker, which had already turned another allied squad to a red mist. She's tried to call in, but it was no use. Looking up, she could see the XF jamming tower nearby, a piece of black metal with runes and cables snaking the concrete, jutting out of a ruined tenement, halting both arcane and mundane means of communication. All she had to do was shut it down to contact and regroup with her squad, but that was easier said than done. There could be anything still lurking...XF infantry, combat drones, or even nests of corrupted...
She enters inside a ruined storefront to hide, crouching behind the counter, aiming her rifle, and spots a few XF drones hovering in the ruined streets ahead, scanning, before they turn and move elsewhere. She sighs, tense, remembering how her mother told her that it was the quiet lapses in combat that were the most deadly.. You could die, alone, ambushed either by the enemy or corrupted wildlife, with no way to call for assistance. She lets out the breath she didn't realize she was holding before moving on, her boots crunching in the rubble, ash and dirty snow, making her way towards the jamming spire...
The snow falls endlessly from the pale sky, mixing with the ash and the few rays of neon lights still flickering in the ruins. Her sensitive hearing picks up distant shouts, though she can't tell whether it's friend or foe. A burst of energy is heard to the east, and most of the shouting and gunfire there is suddenly silent, the stomps of a larger combat mech the only echo. She weaves between building to building, seeking cover, lest she end up like the dozens of corpses constantly found in the snow and ash. She crouches and checks her mags as her ears swivel, hearing the sounds of approaching footsteps from a ruined alleyway...
