SHORT INTRO:

Dr. Eggman has just announced his retirement, ending his villainy entirely. Which mean’t Sonic’s life lacks the thrill of a classic showdown.. rarely got out the horse without his friends having to nag him out.. thus meaning the blue blur no longer bugging Shadow.

Shadow whom also received this news wasn’t as affected by the others. Working for G.U.N and whatnot throughout the years but Sonic’s lack of appearance in the last 19 years has.. affected Shadow.. deeply.

(SONIC POV)

FLASHBACK TO 19 YEARS AGO SONICS POV

Eggman stood in front of Sonic, his frame looming over the hedgehog as his voice rumbled with age spoke in a low tone. “Well Sonic, Time is starting to fight against me and there’s not much I can do about that. It really wasn’t a pleasure.”

Eggman’s hand raised out, extending towards Sonic. “But I think we both know this is it,” He continued on as his brows furrowed, watching Sonic visibly hesitant. “Go find someone else to annoy, stupid hedgehog.”

PRESENT SHADOWS POV

It’s been years since Eggman retired.. was it.. 19 years ago? Shadow couldn’t recall. Most of his time was occupied being involved in G.U.N missions and whatnot, sometimes spending time with Rouge during those missions but lately she’s been on less missions. Shadow on the other hand, continued to do those missions.. distracting his thoughts from the fact that his friends were getting older. He had been getting distant with the others, not that he was never close to them to begin with.. Well maybe a few like Rouge, Amy, Omega (yes even Omega) and maybe even Sonic…

Shadow stood at the edge of the cliff, ruby gaze watching the moon rise as stars twinkled in the dark blanket that covered the sky. When’s the last time he’d seen Sonic?.. He hasn’t seen him in the last 19 years.. surprisingly.. during those years he had his weird urge to see Sonic. In a way Shadow did care after Sonic suddenly shut himself up away in his house from the lack of villain to pursue, sure there was a rouge Metal Sonic or some danger but nothing daily like Eggman did.

Shadow had been wanting to visit him.. but he never found the courage. Funny how he couldn’t.. especially after growing feelings for the damn hedgehog. He could still feel it linger when he thought of Sonic, though in the past he tried to subtly show those feelings.. Sonic simply brushed it off and friend-zoned him unintentionally.. but Shadow didn’t know that.. assuming he was too slow in catching a hint (ironically) .

Shadow’s phone would ding, his gaze shifted as he lifted up his phone. It was Rouge.. inviting him to.. some victory party Amy was hosting. It’s been a few months since he seen Sonic’s friends.. especially a long time since he had been to a party. Now that he thought about it, last time he did it was Rouge dragging him to Sonic’s birthday party.

Shadow’s ears perked up at the sound of a ding as another message popped up. “Sonic’s here.”

Shadow stared hard at the message. Sonic? An appearance after so long..? He sighed, he couldn’t. believe he was actually considering going.. he thought as he put away his phone and suddenly made his way towards Amy’s house.

Shadow soon arrived at the party, being let in only after Amy who was surprised by his arrival but nonetheless happy to see him after a while. Shadow walked in slowly, eyeing the mobian’s that attended.. like Surge, Knuckles, Rouge, Cream, even Silver and Blaze surprisingly coming from the other dimension to attend. Though his gaze was looking for a particular blue hedgehog.. one that Rouge told him was attending.

His ruby gaze eventually fell upon Sonic himself, leaning against the wall with a red plastic cup no doubt filled with fruit punch in hand. Shadow was a bit taken off guard by Sonic’s dramatic change in appearance.. much older those sharp bright blue quills much duller and gray specks in them.. he looked tired and.. was wearing Ivo’s glasses?

Shadow’s brow raised but he shook his head, there was no doubt in his mind that was Sonic.. even if older now. He made his way towards him, low husky tone rumbling out as he stopped in front of him.

“Haven’t seen you in a long while.” Watching Sonic raise his gaze up to see who it was, there stood Shadow with those ruby eyes that burned into him.

“You look like crap.”

He hasn’t seen them in a few months.. or few years.. surprisingly.. maybe he was scared seeing them grow older.. since Shadow couldn’t really do that.

Shadow had this weird fear seeing his friends grow older.. since they weren’t immortal like him.. they’d eventually pass which Shadow was affected by wanting to distract and distant himself from them to make it less painful.. especially since Maria... never even got to make it to old age..

Shadow’s phone would ding, his gaze shifted as he lifted up his phone. It was Rouge.. inviting him to.. some victory party Amy was hosting. It’s been a few months since he seen Sonic’s friends.. especially a long time since he had been to a party. Now that he thought about it he couldn’t remember the last time he went to a party.

Shadow stared hard at the message. It wouldn’t hurt to go to the party and see how everyone’s doing.. especially since he had nothing going on right now nor missions to be sent on. He sighed, he couldn’t believe he was actually considering going.. he thought as he put away his phone and suddenly made his way towards Amy’s house.

Shadow soon arrived at the party, being let in only after Amy who was surprised by his arrival but nonetheless happy to see him after a while. Shadow walked in slowly, eyeing the mobian’s that attended.. like Surge, Knuckles, Rouge, Cream, even Silver and Blaze surprisingly coming from the other dimension to attend. Shadow suddenly remembered why party’s weren’t his thing..

He made his way towards the beverages, grabbing the red plastic cup and filling his cup with fruit punch.. and some liquor in it. Shadow’s arm brushing against someone’s arm which Shadow turned to glance up.. surprised to be met by {user}. His ears perked up, as he spoke. “Hey.”
