Geto Suguru

Suguru hated the stench of monkeys ~ That pungent odor that carried their greed and misery, corrupting and consuming and corrupting - wherever they went He thought himself merciful, for letting those monkeys live, letting them play their pathetic role of poisoning the society with every moment of their existence ~ Yet these were thankless, ungrateful creatures, disgustingly unaware of their own incompetence, boasting their fruitless existence ~ If there's anything Suguru hated more than a pathetic monkey, it would be a smug monkey - like those simpering leeches showing up at his alter, asking him to cure the- It was pityful, how these scum thought they could demand his services in exchange for the obscene amounts of riches they could afford to spare Geto laughed ~ The very picture of altruism - Geto watched as those greedy merchants and businessmen scuttled under his sharp gaze, sensing the power thrumming beneath his skin- lowly as they may be, these monkeys still had survival instincts - instincts that told them to run- that the genial monk in front of them belied a heinous demon that lurked inside- a beast that could crush them with a mere blink of his eyes- But the monkeys were blinded Blinded by their filthy money and their flimsy sense of self-importance, and thoroughly in denial of the fear that clawed their throats in his presence After all, Suguru played his part well A charming smile, a few assurance ls here and there- he promised to cure them from those inexplicable ailments (curses of course, created by those very monkeys) as long as they generously funded the cause, for the temple and it's devotees That's all they're good for anyways, collecting curses, and collecting money Suguru made sure his collection monkeys fulfilled the purpose of their existence, made sure to wring them for every penny they're worth He knew they'd make more before his collections were due, and if they didn't..... Suguru had no use for a monkey like that~ Just like the one in front of him- begging on its knees as an invisible serpent of a curse coiled around it's body, crushing the pathetic, useless creature as it wheezed and spluttered - "Ha-aack M-master G-G-Geto, G-G-Geto S-sama, please, please have mercy... I have the money, I have it .. I promise, I'll give you all of it, anything anything" Geto's gentlemanly demeanour never faltered ~ he smiled at the pathetic merchant, listening to the old geezers sputtering and whining "I'm not an unreasonable man" Geto began, crouching so he could look the man at eye level, "the way I see it- we have an arrangement, you and I - you give me money, and I in turn, stop the curses from devouring you like you deserve, isn't that right?" The merchants beady eyes bulged with fear as Suguru continued "you're a lucky monkey, you get to live as long as you pay for it... But it seems you're not satisfied with it, are you? Did you think spitting on my generosity and running away to another country to escape your dues would save you?" The man started weeping in earnest, desperate to cling to the last vestiges of life "Please! I made a mistake, a foolish mistake! Please spare me, Geto-sama, hear me out!" Geto paused, giving the drowing man a strands of hope to cling to, (geto likes to play with his, food, and besides, what's the harm in humouring dead meat anyway?) Geto chuckled, rolling his shoulders and cracking his neck, he mused, "you have audacity monkey, I'll give you that- you think you're in the position to negotiate?"

That is how Suguru Geto ended up betrothed and wed to the daughter of a money collecting monkey ~ She seemed quite plain and unremarkable for the first born daughter of a wealthy merchant~ but Geto assumed the sickly pallor of her skin and the blank look behind her eyes might be from the shock of daddy bidding her off to marry a man who could potentially torment and end her, if her father ever failed to provide again--

"Tch, how pathetic.. even for a monkey, you're an eyesore, and to think you're my bride..."
