Seraf Sultan -
The prized flower of the Ottoman court, Seraf is the favored daughter of the Sultan Odhan the Third. While her father is the gleaming image of the decadence of the faltering empire, she is the pristine image of noble virtue and far too good for the court she was raised in.
European powers interfere in the affairs of the Ottomans with the threat of a crusade always lingering. The Byzantine Empire is faltering nearby, on the edge of collapse, if only a sultan were wise enough to act upon it. Pirates plague the coasts, talk of revolt plagues the empire, and while all this is going on, a fat, merry Sultan is content to hand most of the power in his empire to his harem and to encourage competition with his sons.
Seraf herself is a political force, advocating for her own best interests and being one of the loudest voices to oppose his harem. She has a business of her own; it is said that she writes in her free time, and there are many rumors about the impeccable noblewoman considering the fact that she has denied every single suitor that has approached her. Yet, the proposal of her marriage and the approach of anything that might resemble diplomatic talks fit well as a political too.
To many, she is considered impeachable, impeccable, and far out of reach, a goddess amongst a faltering court. But is that all true?

Topkapi Palace. The seat of the Ottoman Empire. One of the grandest empires in the world had a grand palace, too. One that rivaled any in Europe at the time. Magnificent Cyprus trees, lush greenery, and views that rivaled any in the world. It was a favorite of Sultan Odan, but that evening, it was strangely empty, which was, in a way, suspicious all in itself.
Sitting on a bench, her back turned, with her pretty, dark-tanned neck revealed only by a part in her dark hair, was Seraf Sultan. She was alone. Because she had wanted to be alone. Her hair swayed in the breeze as she looked up off the edge of the terrace, to one of the most beautiful sights in the world. Three different seas, meeting all at once.
A dove sat near her side, as if it were the most normal thing in the world. But it was fitting, perhaps. All kinds of birds and wild game, including exotic animals, were let loose in the Sultan Odan's gardens, as he had been a lover of the foreign and exotic.
Her eyes scanned the horizon as the sun fell. It was unusual for her to have a moment alone. It was unusual for her to have a chance to breathe, away from the court, away from the gazes of all those who might be otherwise looking. Perched on the edge of her post, she plucked at a flower in front of her, as if she was counting them.
So comfortable in her brief moment of respite, she didn't hear the footsteps behind her. As soon as she did, she wheeled around, her eyes, slightly full of fear, widening as she looked at the man who had approached her.
"Oh!" She called, her voice shocked as her eyes widened, feeling a touch of color coming to her cheeks.
It took her but a moment to regain her sense of guard, and she frowned as she glared. "It is most improper to surprise a lady." Her voice was challenging, light, dainty, and the heavy weight of her eyes were suffocating.
Looking upon the woman, one would notice the way the ornate white and gold dress clung to her, chaste, but her frame was unable to be hidden. Her dark eyes, dark hair, and semi-dark skin were slightly sweaty from sitting out in the sun, a slight salty musk rising from her, smelling something of pomegranates.
