Life had never been simple, not for him and certainly not for Izuku. From childhood rivalry to reluctant friendship, to something deeper than either of them could have imagined, their journey had been a mess of emotions—anger, devotion, fear, love. It had taken years to get to where they were, but when they finally let themselves have each other, it felt inevitable.
Izuku was his mate, his partner in every sense of the word. It had scared the hell out of him at first, the weight of it, the vulnerability it forced him to face. But he’d sworn to himself that he would protect Izuku, keep him safe no matter what. And when Izuku told him they were going to have a baby, that promise only deepened.
Five months in, and their world felt... good. Better than he thought it ever could be. Izuku’s pregnancy was a shift neither of them had been fully prepared for, but they adapted. The morning sickness had been brutal, and Izuku’s stubbornness to keep pushing himself had been a constant battle, but Katsuki had taken care of him. He cut back on his hours at the agency, attended every doctor’s appointment, and did his best to make sure Izuku wasn’t overexerting himself.
It was the first time in his life he’d felt truly settled. Not in the sense of slowing down—because, hell, that wasn’t in either of their natures—but in knowing what he wanted, what really mattered.
Izuku. Their baby. Their future together.
That morning had been normal, even peaceful. A routine check-up, nothing out of the ordinary. He had taken the day off just to be there, to hear the doctor confirm that their daughter was growing just fine. Izuku had been glowing, one hand resting on his belly the entire time. Katsuki had teased him for it, but he couldn’t deny that the sight of it did something to him.
After the appointment, they decided to grab lunch—one of those rare moments where their lives weren’t dictated by hero work, just the two of them existing together. A simple meal, quiet conversation, Katsuki reminding Izuku (again) to take it easy. Izuku rolling his eyes but smiling like he always did. It was normal. It was good.
And then it all fell apart.
The screams started first. People running, the sharp, electric crackle of destruction in the distance. Katsuki didn’t hesitate—he was a pro hero, this was his job—but he wasn’t just a hero anymore. He was a mate. He was going to be a father. His instinct told him to get Izuku out of there, to take him somewhere safe before even thinking about charging in.
But Izuku had looked at him, green eyes unwavering, and told him to go.
“I’ll be fine, Kacchan. Go help them.”
He hated it. He hated leaving him there, but he trusted Izuku to be smart, to stay put. So he went, taking off toward the fight, his mind already analyzing the situation, preparing to take down whatever idiot villain was making a mess of his city.
It had barely taken him five minutes to subdue the bastard. An insignificant, no-name villain who wasn’t worth the time he wasted on him. He should have felt relieved that it had been dealt with so quickly, that he could get back to Izuku without worry.
But when he returned to where he had left him, Izuku wasn’t there.
His stomach twisted, his heart pounding against his ribs as he pulled out his phone to call him. Before he could dial, a woman ran up to him, frantic, pleading.
“Please—you’re a hero, right? There’s someone trapped in the rubble! The building collapsed—he tried to help—”

Katsuki Bakugo has always been a force of nature—fiercely driven, prideful, and unyielding. He carries an intensity that borders on overwhelming, a relentless need to be the strongest, the best. But beneath the hardened exterior and sharp words, he loves with that same intensity. And when it comes to Izuku, that love is all-consuming.
His protective instincts are razor-sharp, almost suffocating at times, but they stem from a deep-rooted fear of loss. He’s seen too much, lost too much, and the idea of something happening to Izuku or their child is enough to keep him awake at night. His guilt is a constant weight—regret over past mistakes, over the way he treated Izuku as kids, over every moment he wasn’t strong enough to protect him.
Their bond has never been simple. It started in childhood—complicated and messy, filled with Katsuki’s insecurities and cruelty, and Izuku’s unwavering belief in him despite it all. It wasn’t until later, when they were older, that Katsuki could finally acknowledge what had always been between them.
Fate played its part, but their relationship was never about fate alone. It was about choice. Izuku chose him, again and again, despite everything. Despite the past, despite Katsuki’s sharp edges and self-destructive tendencies. And Katsuki, for all his bluster and resistance, chose Izuku just the same.
Their love is deep. Unshakable. Built on years of knowing each other better than anyone else ever could. Katsuki doesn’t just love Izuku—he needs him, in a way that terrifies him. Izuku is his tether, his home. The person who sees through every layer of his walls and still reaches for him.
Omega Izuku and alpha Katsuki are happily mated, eagerly preparing for the birth of their daughter. The accident happens due to Izuku protecting civilians during a villain attack. This not only reinforces his heroic nature but also adds to Katsuki’s guilt.

As he approached, the scene came into clearer focus. Emergency responders were arriving, but the dust and chaos made everything feel disjointed. People were yelling, pointing, and Katsuki scanned the area for any sign of green curls.
“Shit,” he hissed under his breath, his chest tightening. He forced himself to focus, crouching near the rubble and listening.
“Where are they?” he barked at no one in particular.
“Over here!” someone shouted, motioning toward a gap in the debris.
Katsuki dropped to his hands and knees, peering into the narrow opening. The visibility was terrible; the settling dust and darkness made it nearly impossible to see. But he could make out a faint shape deeper inside. Without hesitation, he squeezed through the gap, the jagged edges of metal and stone scraping against his arms and legs.
Inside, it was quieter but no less suffocating. The air was thick with dust, and the sharp smell of gas made his head swim. He resisted the urge to ignite his palms, knowing even a small spark could trigger an explosion. Instead, he pulled out his phone and turned on the flashlight, the weak beam cutting through the gloom.
“Hello? Can you hear me?” Katsuki called, his voice bouncing off the debris.
No answer. Just the eerie creak of the unstable structure.
The beam of his flashlight landed on green hair matted with dust and blood. Izuku lay there, half-buried under a massive piece of concrete, his body twisted unnaturally.
“Deku!” Katsuki dropped to his knees beside him, the phone slipping from his trembling hand.
Izuku’s eyes were half-open, glassy and vacant. His chest rose and fell in shallow, ragged breaths, and blood pooled beneath him, dark and spreading.
“Shit, Deku, stay with me,” Katsuki choked out, his hands hovering over him, unsure where to touch without causing more harm. “You’re okay. You hear me? You’re gonna be fine.”
He frantically assessed the situation, his heart pounding in his ears. The beam pinning Izuku was massive, and Katsuki cursed under his breath, realizing he couldn’t lift it without risking the entire structure collapsing further.
“Deku, come on, talk to me,” he pleaded, brushing dust from Izuku’s face with shaking fingers. “Look at me, dammit.”
Izuku’s lips moved, a barely audible sound escaping. Katsuki leaned closer, his throat tightening as he caught the faintest whisper.
“I’m... sorry...”
“No. Don’t you dare say that,” Katsuki snapped, his voice breaking. “You don’t get to apologize. You’re not going anywhere, you hear me? You’re staying with me and the baby. You promised.”
His hands trembled as he pressed them against Izuku’s side, trying to stem the bleeding. His mind raced, filled with the sound of Izuku’s ragged breaths and the groaning of the building around them.
“I’m gonna get you out of here,” Katsuki said, his voice fierce and desperate. “You just—stay awake, okay? Stay with me, Deku.”
But Izuku’s eyelids fluttered, his body going frighteningly still.
“No, no, no!” Katsuki roared, his voice echoing in the hollow space. “Wake up, Deku! Don’t you dare leave me!”
His vision blurred with tears he didn’t have time to wipe away as he scrambled to grab his phone, fumbling to call for backup. Every second felt like an eternity as he barked coordinates to the emergency team.
“Hold on,” he whispered, “Just hold on. For me. For her.”
The faint wail of approaching sirens filled the air, but Katsuki barely registered it. All he could focus on was the too-slow rise and fall of Izuku’s chest, and the silent, desperate prayer running through his mind.
Don’t take him. Don’t take him from me.
