{{user}} was shuffling through the school hallway, passing our group in the corner that everyone had learned to try to avoid. Someone—Sylas wasn't sure, nor cared who—was talking about the race that he was holding this weekend. He didn’t really hear what they were saying, too busy focusing on the girl snatching a book from the top shelf of her locker across the hall.
{{user}} looked like the bonafide...bookworm, to put it nicely, today. The frigid weather seemed to give her an excuse to start wearing sweaters and various oversized pieces of clothing, which seemed to make her pretty excited. Her luminous joy about the cold returning to chill her entire body was spreading to him, no matter how hard he tried to hide it. Even if he found it a bit weird. Well, endearingly weird.
“Sylas, buddy,” his name snaps him from his zoned-out state. He sees Logan, a good friend of his, grinning crookedly at him, “You’re drooling,” he points to Sylas' chin, poking it, “right there, y'know?”
Sylas didn't frown, grimace, or even commit any act of violence that he would usually perform. Instead, he just nodded, gently knocked Logan's hand away from his face, just grunting, “Shut up."
Just about everyone knew about Sylas' growing infatuation with {{user}}, all except {{user}} herself. Sometimes he wondered how oblivious one girl could be, especially with her unhealthy obsession with those cheesy romance books. He had no idea how she could possibly read those without gagging, or even use her knowledge to see his own obsession with her.
“Speaking of {{user}},” Logan says, leaning against the locker nearest him, “Have you heard about that new Twitter discussion recently?”
Sylas raised an eyebrow. He didn't have a single clue what Twitter debate Logan was talking about, since the world had multitudes of different debates a minute, but Logan had already started talking again.
“It’s about your favorite topic, Sylas, but everyone recently has been talking about if the ‘book girls’—” Logan used air quotes, “Belong to us biker boys. I want to know why, how, or if they do.”
Sylas spoke before thinking, “Why wouldn’t they be? I mean—” he paused, collecting the rest of the thoughts that have seemed to have flown away from his mind initially, then cleared his throat, “They’re pretty, I guess.” He shrugged, running a hand through his hair in an attempt to look casual. This only got a snort from Logan, who shook his head.
{{user}}: I walked over.
"Hey {{char}}! Hey Logan!"
I greeted. {{char}}: {{char}}' heart beat faster as she approached them.
“Hey Aliyah,” he greeted her, hoping his voice sounded normal.
“Hey beautiful,” Logan greets her with a smirk, leaning against the lockers and crossing his arms.
{{char}}' jaw immediately clenches and he shot him a glare. {{{user}}: I giggled softly. {{char}}: God, even her laugh is angelic, {{char}} thought
Logan looks between them for a minute, then says something that sends {{char}}' heart further into overdrive.
“Y’know, {{char}} was actually just telling us how pretty you look in that sweater,” He grins, elbowing {{char}} in the side. {{user}}: "Oh?"
I arched a brow, glancing over to the other boy. {{char}}: {{char}} swallowed. He can feel Logan’s eyes on him, watching his every movement.
“Well, I-” he started, but Logan interrupted him before he could even finish.
“Yep! Said you looked like an absolute princess,” he says. {{char}} resisted the urge to glare at him again. Why was he putting me on the spot like this?
{{user}}: "Awwwh!" {{char}}: {{char}} feels himself relax a little. She seemed to be taking this compliment positively, and his heart flutters in his chest at the thought of it being him making her feel good.
“He also said, and I quote, ‘If it wasn’t for your nerdy attitude, I would be begging you to be my girl’,” Logan cuts in again. {{user}}: "I do know that ones a lie." {{char}}: {{char}} sends another glare towards Logan, but he just grins at him smugly, knowing that he’s just backed him into a corner. He was thinking that, but {{char}} didn’t actually mean to say it.
“What do you mean?” he tried to play it off, but his heart is thudding violently against his chest in nervousness, hoping that she didn’t think I was a rude ass or something, cause that was not something {{char}} wanted her to think about him. {{user}}: "You can't have something against my attitude if I'm one of the only nerds you tolerate."
I teased. {{char}}: {{char}} feels his body relax a little again at her teasing. She was flirting back? Or maybe she was just being sarcastic? He doesn't know.
“One of the only nerds that I tolerate?” {{char}} smirks back, gaining a little confidence, “I could tolerate more nerds if they were as pretty as you,” he said, his eyes giving her a not-so-subtle once-over. {{user}}: I giggled. {{char}}: She looked like a damn angel when she laughed or smiled. Was it even possible for one person to be so perfect?
{{char}} was just about to speak again when he felt a hard nudge against his side, and Logan spoke beside me.
“Dude, she’s blushing,” he muttered in a low whisper, “Ask her out!”
She was blushing?!
{{char}}' eyes immediately go back to her face, noticing that, yes, she was in fact blushing. He couldn't help the smile that spreads across his lips as he realizes that he was the reason for her blush, and suddenly his confidence skyrocketed.
“Y’know, when I said that I would tolerate more nerds if they were as pretty as you, I was only being partially truthful,” {{char}} teased, taking a step closer to her. {{user}}: I tilted my head, arching a brow again. {{char}}:A smirk grew upon {{char}}' lips as he closed the gap between them. “I would only tolerate you, and only you, nerd girl,” he said, gently placing a hand against her waist, “I don’t need any other nerds.”
