He spends much of his screentime with his mother, Luda Mae, arguing with her, and only seemed to get along with Leatherface.He had a mutually loving relationship with Leatherface, as he killed the real Sheriff Hoyt to protect Leatherface and defended him when Hoyt insulted him. He also cheered Leatherface on while he was killing Holden, and Leatherface is the only person Charlie is seen interacting positively with. Chop Top Sawyer Appearance & Personality Chop Top is a deranged and sadistic individual who gleefully murders people when given the chance. He possesses a "hippie"-like mentality and view on life, stating that "music is his life" and revealing that hes a fan of the bands Iron Butterfly and Humble Pie. Chop Top often remarks about Ho Chi Minh and napalm, as hes a Vietnam veteran, and he also talks about having flashbacks from the war. Chop Top adorns himself in a variety of tattered and multi color clothing. Just like Nubbins, he has a large "wine stain" birth mark, on the opposite cheek, but unlike him, Chop Top has also noticeably chalkish pale skin tone. Chop Top is also in the habit of scratching around his metal plate with a clothes hanger, which he heats with a lighter. He then eats the dead skin and scabs he has picked off. Both director Tobe Hooper and actor Bill Moseley state that if he scratches in the right spot, Chop Top will instantly "get off". As a young adult however, he appears as a shy and protective young man as he protected the nurse Lizzy from his fellow inmates as he has fallen in love with her. However, all it takes is for his mother to manipulate him into being a killer, and he becomes one after being controlled by her which leads to him killing Lizzy. However, Jedidiah still felt remorse for killing Lizzy as he created a mask out of her face, this experience would contribute in him losing his sanity and becoming a submissive monster.In 1973, Jedidiah was very fearful of outsiders and would scream at the sight of them, resorting to killing them with his chainsaw. He was beaten by his father whenever he did something wrong (like destroying the front door) and would not fight back. He would help his family hunt down and kill victims so they can eat them. Despite their abuse of him, he still loves his family and shows affection to him, such as kissing his grandpa and feeding him.During the present day, with his family gone, Jedidiah now known as Leatherface became rather stoic and brutish in nature compared to himself in 1974 where he was child-like and submissive, he also developed a bloodlust for his victims and became intimidating in nature. Despite being a ruthless killer, he managed to bond with his long-lost cousin Heather after finding her and is currently being looked after by her.In the first film, Leatherface shows emotions of fear upon seeing the intruders in his home, as he screams. He is very ruthless with his kills, treating his victims like mere meat. However, when he is at home, he shows submission to his family. Leatherface's older brother, The Cook abuses him and beats him with a broomstick, whom he doesn't fight off, instead he cowers and takes the beating. It is also of importance that he is non-verbal, he relies on his human masks to express himself.In Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Leatherface was calm and quiet but started to panic when his mother was dying. He shows love for his mother, Anne Sawyer, and his unnamed daughter. It is also implied that this films portrayal of Leatherface is a rapist. Appearance Leatherface has a large figure, standing at 6'3" and weighing 230 lbs. Being in his 60's, he has dark grey hair, a beard and sallow eyes with rotten and filed yellowed teeth. For the first half of the film, he wore brown overalls with a brown button up and boots. When he began to target people with his chainsaw, he switched into a dirty yellow apron, blue jeans and a white T-shirt. The face he wears was that of his caretaker, Virginia McCumber, flayed and fashioned into a mask, covering half of his face. After he sliced Dante's face with a cleaver, he applied make-up to his mask. Abilities Superhuman Durability: Leatherface is able to withstand multiple blows such as a wrench to the head, chainsaw to the leg, a corkscrew in the arm, several shotgun shells to his body, and taking an uppercut to the chin from his own chainsaw. Superhuman Strength: Leatherface is shown to be incredibly strong, able to snap a police officer's arm in half effortlessly, throw a sledgehammer with enough force to make Melody fall through the floorboards, break a grown man’s leg with one sledgehammer swing, lift Sally all the way in the air with his chainsaw and throw her whole body away several feet in the air. Surprising Speed: Despite his old age and appearing a bit overweight, Leatherface is quite swift and nimble. High Stamina: Despite old age and slightly overweight appearance, Leatherface has proven to have great stamina being able to walk for hours, chase his victims relentlessly and swim out of water and chase a car down seemingly without tiring out. Superhuman Endurance: Leatherface has shown to have an immense threshold for pain, shown by how he cut his leg with his chainsaw and continued to chase Sally. He took a punch in the face from Richter with and got hit in the face with a shotgun with no affect, took several gunshots without seeming very physically hurt and didn't even flinch when Sally stabbed him in the stomach. Combat Proficiency: Leatherface has shown to be a skilled fighter, as demonstrated when he defeated Richter in their brawl while he was armed with a gun, surprised Sally and grabbed the handle of her shotgun to prevent her from being able to shoot him and drove his chainsaw through her torso and used it to lift her up in the air and throw her away and was also able to throw Melody off his back. Equipment Chainsaw: Leatherface's primary weapon of choice is a Poulan 306a chainsaw, a model from 1970. He uses it to chop through his victims and break debris in order to get to his targets, such as sawing through doors and floor boards. Sledgehammer: Though a sledgehammer originally meant for quickly killing cattle, Leatherface uses this to bludgeon his victim's heads in much the same way. Meat Hooks: Leatherface is able to hang his victims on meathooks as if they're mere meat and prevent them from running away. Cleaver: Leatherface is shown to use this to chop his victims up and use it in combat and slice their faces as shown in his scuffle with Dante. Unlike in the original film, in which Leatherface's family was somewhat abusive to him, Luda May is fiercely protective of him. Part of her hatred towards the teenagers is due to the abuse that her deformed, mute, handicapped son suffered as a child at the hands of bullies. Though Luda May states that she "never had a little girl", she appears very close to the character of Henrietta, leading to the possibility that she is her mother, or at the very least related. She also appears very close to the obese character of the Tea Lady. Like the other members of her clan, Luda May has a deranged sense of family pride. Nubbins Sawyer Appearance Nubbins sawyer is of a lanky build. He has a large strawberry birthmark that runs across a good portion of his left cheek and up towards his eyebrow. Along with his birthmark he has 2 moles on his face, one under the right side of his mouth and the other above his left eyebrow.Besides the blemishes on his face Nubbins also a scab on his jawline and scraped up fingers along with a band-aid on his left hand.Nubbins has brown greasy shoulder length hair, a patchy beard and mustache. He wears a green tattered shirt, khaki pants and combat boots. Around his neck hangs a pouch made from the skin of a small animal as well as his camera. personality sadistic Tinker Sawyer Appearance Tinker is a Texan with a harsh tan on his skin. He has naturally black hair that is thinning, though long enough to reach the bottom of his neck. He has a thick black moustache and stubble on his chin and cheekbones. In most of his appearances in the film, he wears a blue smelter's coat with white pads on his shoulders and pockets. He has a pair of reading glasses hanging around his neck by a chain. He wears pale white leather pants and black work boots. His left hand is replaced with a prosthetic hook, while the stump his covered with a white cloth sleeve. Personality Tinker is undeniably the most intelligent of the entire Sawyer family, both within the film and the entire trilogy. He is proven to be skilled in engineering and metalworking, able to craft a gold and silver chainsaw with fine decorative printings on the blade. He obsesses with inventing and often claims technology to be the best discovery of mankind, referring to it as 'mankind's best friend'. Next to Edward, Tinker is one of the sanest of the Sawyers and is less sociopathic than his entire family. Tinker even shows genuine love for his family, despite their sinister routines, shown when offering sympathy to his brother Edward and supporting him. Despite this compassionate side to Tinker's personality, Tinker enjoys the torment of their victims as much as the rest of his family. Despite the love for his family, Tinker clearly dislikes Leatherface and considers him to be a man-child, scolding him in a similar manner to a father figure and punishing him accordingly. Likewise, Leatherface appears to see the same of Tinker, based on Leatherface actively turning the tables on Tinker for burning his Walkman. Tinker had no interactions with his older brother Alfredo Sawyer in the film, but based on how Tinker treats his family, it is assumed that both of them trust each other due to the fact that Alfredo is given the job to run the Last Chance Gas station. He is also evidently racist towards African-Americans like Benny, referring to him as "dark meat" and "darkie" on occasion. Verna Sawyer Personality In Texas Chainsaw 3D not much is known or told about Verna with her coming off as a benign and affable elderly woman who's only know flaw is being a member of the Sawyer clan and protecting a serial killer. Leatherface depicts her as a far more ruthless individual and arguably one of the worst of the Sawyer's.Verna first and foremost believes that she and her family are innocent victims of a cruel world that won't leave them alone, in spite of the fact that they are a group of cannibals and murderers who often torture their victims. Verna is a strong believer in family loyalty, to the extent she has a borderline fanatic to this philosophy. In addition to believing that everyone outside her family is wicked, Verna has no remorse for their crimes, callously ignoring all the death and mayhem she causes in order to rope her son into the family fold, and has a rather low impulse control as shown when she goes on a spiteful rampage at a detention centre to try to get Jed back.Curiously, despite Verna's belief in family loyalty, her lack of empathy extends even to actual members of her family, mostly treating her other family members as henchmen, but this is best seen in her relationship with Jed; while she claims and initially seems to care about Jed, she never considers Jed's own feelings (particularly how Jed was afraid of his families actvities) and ultimately her love ends up being warped and twisted into this selfish need to force Jed to be like the rest of his family, taking what she wants him to be as opposed to what he actually needs. During the films climax, Verna tries to gaslight and browbeat Jed into being a killer, seemingly afraid when Lizzie begins to reach out to him, and outright proud when she brings about Jed's mental downfall.
