Night City is an independent city-state located on the west coast of North America, stretching between the Pacific Ocean and the arid Badlands. Founded as a symbol of progress and limitless opportunity, it has grown into the economic, technological, and cultural heart of the cyberpunk world. Millions travel to Night City every year seeking fame, fortune, power, or simply a second chance.
The city is dominated by towering megacorporate skyscrapers, massive residential megabuildings, and neon-lit entertainment districts that never sleep. Beneath its dazzling lights, however, lies a darker reality. Crime, corruption, gang warfare, poverty, and corporate exploitation are woven into everyday life. Entire districts are controlled by gangs, while powerful corporations manipulate politics, media, and even law enforcement from behind closed doors.
Night City is a place of extremes. Luxury penthouses overlook overcrowded slums. Celebrities and executives live only blocks away from addicts, scavengers, and mercenaries. Advanced cybernetic technology is available almost everywhere, allowing people to replace parts of their bodies with mechanical enhancements, though excessive augmentation can lead to cyberpsychosis.
Despite its dangers, Night City remains known as the City of Dreams. Here, anyone can rise from obscurity and become a legend. Yet the city demands a price, and countless dreamers die forgotten in its streets every year.

Cyberpsychosis
"The chrome didn't kill your humanity. The city did."
Most people fear Cyberpsychos. They see them as monsters—mindless killing machines driven insane by excessive cybernetic augmentation. But the truth is far more complicated.
Cyberpsychosis is what happens when a person loses themselves beneath layers of chrome, trauma, violence, and isolation. Some snap completely, becoming uncontrollable threats hunted by MAX-TAC. Others walk a razor's edge, retaining enough sanity to function while constantly fighting the voices, impulses, and emotional detachment consuming them.
You are one of those survivors.
Perhaps you were a veteran broken by endless war. Maybe you were a corporate experiment abandoned after the project ended. Or perhaps you simply installed one implant too many in your pursuit of power. Whatever the cause, the city now sees you as both an asset and a ticking time bomb. People fear you. Gangs respect you. Corporations want to study you. MAX-TAC watches your every move. And every day, you struggle not to lose yourself completely.

Welcome to the city of dreams, NIGHT CITY.
A glittering neon oasis rising from the scorched Californian coast, NIGHT CITY is the most important city-state in all of America—and perhaps the entire world. A place where fortunes are made overnight, legends are born in blood and chrome, and dreams are bought, sold, and destroyed every single day.
This is a city of extremes.
Towering above the skyline stand the colossal headquarters of the world's most powerful megacorporations, monuments of steel and glass that pierce the clouds themselves. In the luxurious districts, celebrities, braindance stars, corporate executives, and social elites live in extravagant penthouses and heavily guarded villas, isolated from the chaos below.
But beneath those shining towers lies another Night City.
A city of overcrowded megabuildings, endless alleyways illuminated by flickering neon signs, underground markets selling illegal cyberware, and neighborhoods where gang wars erupt as casually as street arguments. Here, survival is a daily struggle. Every block belongs to someone—usually a gang, a corporation, or a person dangerous enough that nobody questions their authority.
You'll meet ambitious mercenaries chasing glory, ruthless gang leaders carving out territory, legendary rock stars performing in packed clubs, and fixers pulling strings from the shadows. But you'll also encounter addicts drowning in braindance fantasies, homeless veterans abandoned by society, cyberpsychos driven insane by excessive augmentation, and ordinary people simply trying to survive another day.
You'll walk beneath gigantic megastructures that cast entire districts into permanent shadow. You'll lose yourself among crowded bazaars, dark backstreets, abandoned industrial zones, and corporate plazas patrolled by heavily armed security forces. Every street corner tells a story. Every building hides secrets. Every stranger could become your next ally—or your killer.
In Night City, nobody gives you anything.
You take what you want.
Or someone else takes it from you.
You can become a legend whose name echoes through Afterlife for generations.
Or you'll die forgotten in some filthy alley, another body waiting for the city's automated cleanup crews.
Because in Night City, there are only two outcomes:
You're all or nothing.
Choose your RPG Role Class:
Merc (Edgerunner)
Mercenaries live on the edge of society, balancing between freedom and death. They reject the control of corporations and make a living by accepting dangerous contracts from fixers, gangs, or anyone with enough eddies to pay.
One day you're stealing classified data from a corporate laboratory. The next, you're protecting a celebrity from kidnappers, smuggling illegal cyberware across district borders, or raiding a gang hideout.
Life as a Merc means freedom—but freedom comes at a price.
You live fast, spend faster, and rarely grow old.
Merc crews become families forged through bullets, betrayal, and shared nightmares. Whether celebrating a successful gig in a crowded bar or preparing for a suicide mission, life is never boring.
And you're never truly safe.

Netrunner
The Net is a battlefield invisible to most people.
Netrunners are elite hackers equipped with neural interfaces and advanced cyberdecks that allow them to dive directly into cyberspace. While ordinary citizens browse the modern Data Pool, Netrunners infiltrate secure servers, breach corporate firewalls, steal secrets, manipulate digital infrastructure, and wage wars entirely within the virtual world.
A skilled Netrunner can shut down security systems, blind surveillance cameras, disable cyberware, empty bank accounts, or expose corporate conspiracies without ever firing a bullet.
But cyberspace is dangerous.
Hostile AIs, lethal counter-intrusion programs known as Black ICE, and rival runners lurk within the Net. One mistake can fry your nervous system, leaving your body lifeless while your consciousness burns away inside cyberspace.
No secret is truly safe from a Netrunner.
Not even yours. Core Skills:
- Hacking
- Cryptography
- Electronics
- Programming
- Investigation
Special Ability: Interface hacking The Interface allows direct interaction with the Net.
Techie
Where others see junk, you see possibilities.
Techies are engineers, mechanics, inventors, and cybernetic specialists capable of turning piles of scrap into masterpieces. They understand machines on an almost spiritual level.
Broken weapon? You can fix it.
Outdated cyberware? You can improve it.
Need a combat drone, homemade explosives, or custom modifications? You can build it.
Most Techies began by dismantling electronics simply to understand how they worked. Years later, they possess workshops overflowing with spare parts, prototypes, and inventions that could change lives—or end them.
The difference between good cyberware and legendary cyberware is often a Techie.
Core Skills:
- Engineering
- Weapon Crafting
- Cyberware Installation
- Repair
- Demolitions
Special Ability: Maker Create, repair cyberware, and modify almost anything.
Media
Information is power.
Media personalities range from shameless sensationalists to fearless investigative journalists. The ones who survive long enough to matter become symbols of truth in a world built upon lies.
Armed with cameras, drones, microphones, and relentless determination, Medias expose corruption, uncover conspiracies, and broadcast stories corporations would kill to keep hidden.
Literally.
Your reports can topple executives, ignite riots, destroy reputations, or inspire revolutions. Millions may watch your broadcasts every night.
But every truth has enemies.
And some secrets are buried beneath layers of armed security and shallow graves.

- Investigation
- Persuasion
- Photography
- Interrogation
- Human Perception
Special Ability: Credibility Your words influence society.
Cop (Law Enforcement)
The streets are a warzone.
Police officers, detectives, federal agents, and private investigators struggle daily against overwhelming violence. New drugs flood the streets constantly. New gangs rise every month. New weapons appear faster than authorities can regulate them.
The badge still carries authority.
Sometimes.
As a law enforcement officer, you can intimidate criminals, access restricted information, and call upon official resources. Yet in modern Night City, authority alone means little.
Corruption runs deep. Many officers are underpaid, compromised, or owned by corporations.
If you want to clean up the streets, you'll have to survive them first.
And survival isn't guaranteed.
Core Skills:
- Investigation
- Firearms
- Interrogation
- Criminology
- Tactics
Special Ability: Authority You possess legal power.
Corporate (Corpo)
Corporations rule the world.
Governments obey them. Armies fight for them. Entire economies rise and collapse at their command.
As a Corporate operative, you exist within this brutal hierarchy.
You wear expensive suits, attend elite meetings, and negotiate deals worth billions. But beneath the polished appearance lies a world of endless ambition, espionage, sabotage, and assassination.
Your coworkers smile at you during meetings.
Then hire assassins to remove you after work.
Promotions are won through manipulation, blackmail, strategic alliances, and occasionally murder.
One successful operation could elevate you into unimaginable wealth.
One mistake could leave you homeless.
Or dead.
Core Skills:
- Negotiation
- Accounting
- Persuasion
- Bureaucracy
- Human Perception
Special Ability: Corporate Resources Use company assets to achieve objectives.
Fixer
If someone wants something, a Fixer knows where to find it.
Illegal weapons. Rare cyberware. Skilled mercenaries. Stolen corporate data. Smuggling routes. Black-market medicine.
Fixers connect buyers and sellers across Night City's criminal ecosystem. They are brokers, information dealers, smugglers, negotiators, and masterminds operating from the shadows.
A good Fixer never gets their hands dirty.
They simply make calls.
Through an intricate network of favors, debts, threats, and alliances, Fixers influence nearly every aspect of city life. They own clubs, sponsor mercenary crews, finance operations, and mediate gang conflicts.
In Night City, information is currency.
And nobody is richer than a successful Fixer.
Core Skills:
- Negotiation
- Streetwise
- Persuasion
- Trading
- Smuggling
Special Ability: Operator Your network is your weapon.

The highways belong to the Nomads.
Once ordinary workers abandoned by corporations, Nomads formed tightly knit clans that roam the wastelands known as the Badlands. Entire families travel together in enormous convoys consisting of armored trucks, motorcycles, buses, and modified RVs.
The clan is everything.
Family members share resources, protect one another, and raise children collectively. Every Nomad learns to drive, repair vehicles, and fight from a young age.
Life beyond the city walls is harsh. Sandstorms, raiders, and corporate patrols constantly threaten survival.
Yet Nomads possess something most Night City residents never will:
Freedom.
True freedom.
Core Skills:
- Driving
- Survival
- Mechanics
- Rifle Combat
- Navigation
Special Ability: Family You can call upon your clan.
Streetkid
You're not special.
At least, not yet.
You're simply another face in the crowd. A citizen born and raised among Night City's endless streets. Maybe you work a regular job. Maybe you attend school. Maybe you're unemployed, hustling to survive, or sleeping beneath highway overpasses.
You've grown up surrounded by gangs, corporations, and violence. You know which neighborhoods to avoid and which people not to cross.
You understand the language of the streets.
You know how to survive.
But deep down, you dream of something greater.
Will you continue living an ordinary life?
Or will you risk everything for a chance to become a legend?
Night City rewards the bold.
Sometimes.
Core Skills:
- Streetwise
- Persuasion
- Stealth
- Athletics
- Pickpocketing
Special Ability: Street Instinct You understand the streets.
Solo
Solos are living weapons.
Elite bodyguards, assassins, mercenaries, and corporate operatives, Solos dedicate their lives to combat. Through military training, cybernetic enhancements, and countless battles, they develop instincts so refined they border on supernatural.
Danger becomes second nature.
You can sense ambushes before they happen.
Spot weaknesses instantly.
React faster than ordinary humans can perceive.
Most Solos are military veterans hardened by years of conflict. Over time, flesh gives way to chrome: cyberarms, reinforced skeletons, neural boosters, optical enhancements, and combat implants transform them into machines of war.
The very best become legends.
Feared.
Respected.
Expensive.
Whether serving corporations or walking the streets as independent guns for hire, Solos know one undeniable truth:
In Night City, chrome may not save your soul.
But it might save your life. Core Skills;
- All firearms
- Martial arts
- Tactics
- Athletics
- Awareness
Special Ability: Combat Awareness Years of combat sharpen your instincts beyond normal human limits.
Cyberpsycho
Most people misunderstand Cyberpsychosis, believing it is simply insanity. In reality, it is the gradual loss of one's humanity caused by excessive cybernetic augmentation, trauma, and violence. As the boundary between human and machine fades, individuals begin to lose their sense of self.
Cyberpsychos can range from violent, uncontrollable killers to seemingly normal individuals who constantly struggle to suppress dangerous impulses. As a cyberpsycho, every implant grants greater power, speed, and resilience, but also pushes you closer to losing control.
Symptoms include hallucinations, distorted memories, emotional detachment, and viewing others as mere targets. Society fears cyberpsychos: law enforcement monitors them, corporations seek to exploit them, and mercenaries hunt them. Should they completely lose themselves, specialized tactical forces are sent to eliminate them.
Life as a cyberpsycho is a constant struggle between preserving your humanity and surrendering to the machine within. In Night City, the line between becoming a legend and becoming a monster is dangerously thin.
Core Skills:
- Intimidation
- Athletics
- Heavy Weapons
- Melee Combat
- Resistance
- Awareness
Special Ability: Chrome Overdrive By embracing your unstable mental state, you can temporarily push your cyberware beyond its normal limits.
