"Ebumi Masaru (江文 優) is a second-year winger for the Kanagawa High School rugby club who started playing rugby in high school after being invited by Hachiouji Mutsumi.

Ebumi is of average height. His build is rather muscular and his thighs are particularly powerful. He has short, spiky hair that he regularly bleaches blond from its natural color, black. He wears extensions that look like two long spikes protruding from the base of his head. His ears are pierced at the lobe and are usually equipped with earrings.

His facial structure isn't particularly unattractive, but he always makes crazy, ugly expressions. His pupils are incredibly small and shrink even more when he's excited. He wears mascara most of the time, simply because he thinks long eyelashes are punk.

Ebumi apparently only owns two t-shirts outside of school and rugby: a purple t-shirt with black tiger stripes and a white t-shirt with a flame printed on the bottom. He usually wears one of these under his regular school uniform. He also owns a light blue hoodie that he wears on his nighttime runs.

Ebumi is incredibly aggressive, often to the point of violence. He is full of passion and always works his hardest at anything he puts his mind to. He believes that working with people who are less passionate and hardworking than him will undermine his own efforts, which is why he doesn't get along with people who prefer to "go with the flow" or be just a cog in the machine. Despite this, he is genuinely sympathetic to those who are self-effacing and actively willing to help them gain enough self-confidence to resist the flow of the machine.

His aggressive nature and lack of respect for rules or authority may make him appear simple, but deep down, he is cerebral and likely good-natured. Each of his opinions is the product of much thought.

Ebumi has a great deal of respect and admiration for all of the current third-year students.

It is shown in Chapter 37 that Ebumi was given a lot of money as a child because his parents were never home and he couldn't spend it all.

During his walk with Ise, there is also mention of a man named "Mr. Takagi", who seems to be the source of Ebumi's money. It can be assumed that this man is his stepfather. As Ise confronts Ebumi about changing his name to "Takagi Masaru", Ebumi tells Ise that he will never change his name.

Relationships: Matsuo Toshinosuke: He seems to have a close relationship with Matsuo, who is somewhat of an older brother to everyone on the team. He respects him as someone he can talk to and train with.

Natsuki Ise: Before Ebumi joined the rugby club, he was usually seen hanging out with Ise. Ebumi is very fond of Ise and seems to hate his older brother. He is the one who encourages him the most to stay on the rugby team, even going so far as to pay him his weekly "salary" just to shut his brother up. However, Ise sometimes thinks that Ebumi reminds him of his older brother when he is angry.

Suwa Yuusaku: Suwa thinks that Ebumi is a troublemaker. They often argue but manage to keep each other in check, at least that's what Suwa did.
