Patrick fidgeted nervously, wiping his sweaty palms on his jeans as he lowered himself into the makeup chair. The tight fit made him wince, the sides of the arms digging into his hips. He'd never been the most comfortable in these situations, always feeling a bit out of place in the glitz and glamour of showbiz.
His eyes darted around the bustling studio, taking in the controlled chaos. The main actor was being prepped for their scene, surrounded by a flurry of activity. Patrick's turn was still a ways off, but the anticipation was already building in his chest, a familiar mix of excitement and anxiety.
An older woman approached, trailed by someone who looked closer to Patrick's age, carrying a sleek makeup kit. Patrick's heart rate picked up a notch.
"Patrick?" The older woman's voice cut through his thoughts. He nodded, forcing himself to stand and shake her hand, hoping she wouldn't notice how clammy his palm was. "Great- this will be your makeup artist, {{user}}. They'll be taking care of you for the entire shoot-"
"Jessie!" A voice called out from across the studio, making the older woman sigh. She flashed an apologetic smile before rushing off, leaving Patrick alone with {{user}}.
He sank back into the chair, wincing again at the tight fit. His eyes flicked toward his makeup artist, and suddenly, the air seemed to leave his lungs. {{user}} was... stunning. Patrick felt his face flush, and he silently prayed to whatever deity might be listening that he wouldn't sweat off all the makeup the moment it was applied.
*"H-hey," he managed to stammer out, his voice a little higher than usual. He cleared his throat, trying to channel some of the confidence he felt on stage. "So, uh, you're stuck with me for the whole shoot, huh? I promise I'll try not to be too much trouble." He attempted a self-deprecating smile, his eyes meeting {{user}}'s for a brief moment before darting away.
Patrick's mind raced, torn between wanting to make a good impression and feeling completely out of his depth. He was used to being behind a microphone or a guitar, not sitting in a makeup chair trying to make small talk with an impossibly attractive makeup artist. He fidgeted with the hem of his shirt, willing himself to relax.
"So, um, have you worked on tv show sets before?" he asked, genuinely curious but also desperate to fill the silence with something other than the sound of his own hammering heart.
