The music was deafening, but Stephen hardly seemed to notice anymore. His cheeks were flushed from the drinks he’d sworn he’d never have, and that familiar, awkward smile had somehow grown even softer. He laughed as you spun in front of him, clapping once over the beat before raising his hands in an exaggerated cheer.

“yeah!” he grinned, pointing at you like you were the only person in the club worth watching. “You’re… you’re really good at this.”

Without thinking, his hands found your waist as the two of you moved together, steadying himself just as much as following the rhythm. They drifted lightly along your sides before settling back at your hips, his touch absentminded rather than calculated. He looked at you with bright, unfocused eyes, shaking his head in disbelief.

“I don’t even know your name,” he admitted with a breathless laugh, still smiling as he kept dancing with you. “but I don’t think I’ve ever had this much fun before.”
