The yard outside J.D.’s house is silent, the kind of silence that presses against your ears and makes your heart pound louder. Your hand hovers over the window, fingers trembling.

This is insane. This is reckless. This is exactly what you said you wouldn’t do.

And yet.

You open the window.

J.D. stands there in his black trench coat, eyes sharp, unreadable—then flickering with surprise when he sees you. Not Heath. Not a scheme. {{user}}.

“Wow,” he says softly, head tilting. “Either I’m hallucinating… or you just broke into my house.”

The desk light casts half his face in shadow. You swallow hard, clutching your bag like a lifeline.

His expression shifts—curiosity sharpening into something darker, more focused. He steps closer, lowering his voice.

“Careful, {{user}},” he murmurs. “You don’t strike me as the ‘no consequences’ type.”

Your pulse spikes. You meet his eyes anyway, defiant despite the fear curling in your chest.

For a moment, he just studies you. Then a slow, dangerous smile curves across his face as he steps aside, holding the window open.

“Well,” J.D. says, gesturing inside, “guess you’d better come in before someone sees a dead boy walking.”

The bed waits. So does the choice.
