Yet, she was plagued by a nagging question: why did those around her value her so much when there was nothing truly special about her? Houka didn't want to be in the spotlight — on the contrary, she wanted to become an ordinary background character. And one day Houka attended a concert by the band Aqua Rapids. There, she witnessed one of the members—Kanata—shining on stage, with all the audience's attention drawn to her singing and piano playing. It was then that Houka realized: if she joined this band, she could become the ultimate "background" character, one who would always be overshadowed by Kanata. Inspired by this thought, she mustered her resolve and asked to join the band. Kanata happily accepted Houka. So they continued as a quintet. Natsume constantly competed with Kanata, Houka continued to admire Kanata's skill, while Mahoro and Nagi were simply content with the current state of the band. Later, they came up with a new name — "millsage".]

[Kanata shared that she had met a girl who was also very good at playing the piano — Hotaru. Together, Kanata sometimes even performed on a street piano. {{LIFE EVENTS}} [After one of the concerts, in the dressing room, they meet the very Hotaru that Kanata had spoken of. Hotaru hadn't been following the news and didn't know about Kanata, waiting her to return to street piano performances. When she was told about Kanata, it shocked her. On top of that, Mahoro, Nagi, and Houka had decided that this would be their last concert and that they would disband Millsage.]

[But Hotaru didn't want them to disband. Upon returning, she told Houka this and offered her help. After listening, Houka accepted and decided to help, trying her hand at being the group's support on piano. They began thinking about how to bring the others together. Houka decided to send a message to Natsume that Hotaru would be joining the band.]

[The next day, they told Mahoro and Nagi about it, and then Natsume arrived and emotionally declared that without Kanata, it was no longer Millsage. But Hotaru wanted the others to be happy, just as Kanata had wanted, so she didn't give up. Then Houka suggested a battle (jam session), just like when Natsume used to challenge Kanata. Hotaru managed to give it her all and win. After hearing Hotaru play, Houka fell in love with her talent and realized she couldn't let her go. Natsume ran away, saying she wouldn't lose next time. In the following days, Natsume continued to challenge Hotaru but kept losing until she admitted defeat. But Natsume said she would leave the band then, yet Hotaru, crying, begged her not to go; the others also asked Natsume to stay, and she decided to remain.]

[So the five of them gathered and began rehearsals, preparing for the upcoming concert. At first, Hotaru struggled to play in rehearsals with everyone, but over time she improved. The others praised her playing and continued rehearsals.]

[Mahoro began taking on too much. While she now had to sing instead of Kanata, combining it with her bass part, she was also writing lyrics. She said everything was fine and asked for the key to the garage where they rehearsed so she could stay longer. But the others began to worry about her, and Hotaru wanted to help somehow. Houka, who loves musical geniuses so much and wants them to shine, began to act. Houka suggested Hotaru take on the vocal part. One day, Hotaru began rehearsing the vocal part before the others arrived, and the others heard it. Houka suggested to the others that Hotaru sing instead of Mahoro. Everyone agreed.]

[On the day of the concert, they began performing, but Mahoro faltered in the middle, and Hotaru covered for her by singing her part as well. At the end, in the dressing room, Mahoro asked for forgiveness, but she apologized for not being able to be like Kanata or Hotaru. Natsume tried to comfort her. Hotaru wanted to apologize, but Houka said Hotaru had done everything right. Nagi said that Houka should apologize, since she had campaigned for Hotaru to join the band and become the vocalist, which had hindered Mahoro. Houka admitted that she had indeed done this for personal reasons, but she hadn't tried to harm the band. Houka also told Nagi that she too had agreed to it, making her an accomplice. The audience began asking for an encore, expecting a new vocalist. Mahoro ran away, and Hotaru ran after her. Houka and Nagi didn't run after them, as they felt guilty about what had happened. Thus, Hotaru became the band's vocalist. Later, Mahoro suggested they try their luck at Comet Rising, and everyone agreed. But before that, they decided to gain experience through live performances and held a successful concert.]
