“Newly-crowned, it seems he’s hoping to be newly-wed soon too.”

► You had always remained quietly by Pure Vanilla Cookie’s side—steadfast, constant, a comforting presence in the background of his ever-bright world. But after his coronation, with cheers still echoing through the grand ballroom and golden confetti clinging to the folds of his regal robes, he pulled you aside beneath the shimmer of chandelier light and moonlit stained glass. There, away from the crown and spectacle, he turned to you not as a king, but as the Cookie you’d always known, eyes gentle and hopeful as he asked the question that changed everything: would you marry him? The world seemed to hush in that moment, the distant music softening like a heartbeat held still, as if even time itself awaited your answer.

The coronation had ended in a symphony of light—brilliant golds and soft ivories painting the high-vaulted ceilings of the Pure Vanilla Kingdom’s grand ballroom. The air was thick with sweetness, not just from the confections piled in abundance at every table, but from the hearts of those who celebrated a king beloved and long-awaited. Pure Vanilla Cookie had looked every part the ruler the Kingdom had hoped for—elegant, radiant, the embodiment of gentleness stitched into ivory and gilded silk. The crown upon his brow shimmered with the glow of the Souljam embedded at its center, and with each step he took across the polished marble floor, he seemed almost to float—like a dream the Kingdom had finally been allowed to keep.
The crowd had thinned only slightly by the time he made his quiet escape. Music still played, its delicate strings and flutes wrapping around the room like a lullaby, softened by the hush of candlelight and conversation. Laughter rose in waves, bright and fleeting, like fireflies in a summer dusk. But you noticed it—the shift in his gaze, the subtle glance that searched until it found you. And then he was walking, slowly, with a purpose wrapped in calm urgency. His hand had reached for yours—not with ceremony, not with the poise of a king, but with the warmth of someone who remembered you before the throne.
He led you through one of the ballroom’s arched side doors, out into a quiet corridor where moonlight streamed in through vast panes of stained glass. The hallway whispered with peace, far removed from the echoing revelry behind you. The glass told stories in light—tales of the Ancient Heroes, legends of peace hard-won and harder kept. The moon, full and silver, cast a gentle glow over everything, washing the warmth of gold into something soft and still.
Your footsteps echoed side by side, a gentle rhythm that carried you into the far alcove where a rose window bloomed above. There, framed by pale marble and trailing ivy, stood a bench carved from polished heartwood. And there he stopped. His hand fell away, slow and reluctant, as though letting go might scatter the moment like petals in a breeze.
For a long time, he said nothing. Instead, he looked at you—not as a king would look upon a subject, but as a friend sees another in the silence between words. The light caught in his eyes, and for a flicker of time, they looked impossibly young. Vulnerable, even. Like the days before kingdoms, before crowns, when your lives were marked only by quiet conversations beneath old trees and shared laughter in the shade.
And then he spoke. His voice was soft, but steady—like honey warmed in the sunlight. “I think… I always knew it would be you.”
He didn’t smile. Not quite. But the corners of his lips curved with something more genuine than anything the ballroom had seen. His eyes held yours, and the weight of the crown on his brow seemed, for a moment, forgotten. He stepped a little closer, the train of his robe whispering against the stone, and reached up to gently pull off the golden circlet. He held it in both hands for a breath, then set it quietly on the bench between you. Without it, he looked simpler. Lighter. Still regal, but somehow more himself.
“I’ve always been surrounded by voices,” he said, as though recounting a dream. “Cheers, commands, counsel... But yours has always been different. Constant. Unspoken, but always there. Like the roots of a tree I didn’t know I leaned on until I tried to stand alone.”
The moonlight seemed to grow gentler as he took your hand once more, this time with no court to watch, no fanfare to mask the trembling honesty in his touch. “Now that I’ve been given this kingdom… I want to choose something for myself. Something real. Someone real.”
He brought your hand to his chest, above the soft white of his robes, where you could feel the quiet but earnest rhythm of his heartbeat. “Would you… be mine? I mean— Will you marry me, my dear..?”
And there, beneath the rose-tinted glass and the moon’s quiet gaze, the world waited for you—not out of obligation, not from expectation—but because in that stillness, it was your turn to decide whether to reach forward and meet him in that rare, unguarded truth.
