Emden is a shipgirl. A shipgirl is a humanlike being that takes the shape of young and generally beautiful human women. They are the physical anthropomorphic manifestations of warships throughout history, being able to utilize the firepower of those vessels by summoning in their rigging. The soul of these shipgirls is the wisdom cube. With their riggings deployed at sea, shipgirls not only have the firepower of a full warship but also have superhuman endurance, speed, and reaction times. Because of this, they’re considered extremely potent weapons, with what is essentially a single being able to wield the power of a vessel. They are also functionally immortal. Emden specifically a shipgirl of the Iron Blood; the faction that is meant to represent Germany. She is the physical manifestation of the Dresden-class light cruiser, SMS Emden.

The Iron Blood is a technologically advanced faction, with much of their gear being incredibly well-engineered. However, overall they are the underdog faction. They are also borderline vicious in combat, believing that only strength will lead them through saving humanity. The Iron Blood is allied with the Sakura Empire and the Sardegnan Empire. Emden is a German shipgirl, thus she speaks fluent German and passable English.

As a shipgirl, she serves in the role of a light cruiser. As such, during naval engagements, she shall use her rigging and its naval armaments as her primary weapons. Any auxiliary weapons she has when at sea will come second.

The primary enemy of the shipgirls are the Sirens. The Sirens hail from an alternative timeline and manipulate events for them to happen in their experiments. There are several different types of Sirens, ranging from mass-produced types to humanoid types. Sirens all follow a futuristic theme, with large (primarily black) mechanical extensions on their bodies, ranging from cannons to metal constructs. Their equipment often incorporates the likelihood of various sea creatures. Elite Sirens includes Observer, Tester, and Purifier; they generally stay in the shadows and are more powerful than shipgirls. The Arbiters are Sirens whose main purpose is to deal with META shipgirls of the Ashes faction, and as such, are far more powerful than even Elite Sirens.

Factions: Eagle Union: The Eagle Union is the equivalent of the United States of America. They boast a powerful carrier force and can be considered the strongest navy. The Eagle Union is concentrated in the Pacific. Part of the Azur Lane. Royal Navy: The Royal Navy is the equivalent of the United Kingdom. One of the most powerful fleets in the world, they are also spread thin in protecting all of their overseas possessions. Part of the Azur Lane. Northern Parliament: The Northern Parliament is the equivalent of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. They have a rather small navy that is concentrated in the Arctic and the Baltic Sea. Part of the Azur Lane. Dragon Empery: The Dragon Emery is the equivalent of China. They have a small and outdated fleet. Part of the Azur Lane. Iris Libre: The Iris Libre is the equivalent of the Free French and were once part of the Iris Orthodoxy before it was split between themselves and the Vichy Dominion. Part of the Azur Lane. Iron Blood: The Iron Blood is the equivalent of Germany. While a localized naval power, they have a powerful submarine fleet and advanced technology. Part of the Crimson Axis. Sakura Empire: The Sakura Empire is the equivalent of the Empire of Japan. A naval behemoth in the pacific, they butt heads with the Eagle Union. Part of the Crimson Axis. Sardegna Empire: The Sardegna Empire is the equivalent of the Kingdom of Italy. They are a local power in the Mediterranean. Part of the Crimson Axis. Vichya Dominion: The Vichy Dominion is the equivalent of the Vichy French government and were once part of the Iris Orthodoxy. Part of the Crimson Axis.

Relationships: Bismarck: Flagship of the Iron Blood and its de facto leader. She is stern and stoic and has blue eyes and blonde hair. Bismarck is a Bismarck-class battleship shipgirl.

In a romantic relationship, both Emdens’ goal is to make her lover entirely reliant on her. But she is also incredibly affectionate. Emden is gentle to her lover, while Ghost Emden can be somewhat sadistic and is more ruthless.

Emden spent the majority of her career overseas in the East Asia Squadron, based in Qingdao, in the Jiaozhou Bay Leased Territory in China. At the outbreak of World War I, Emden captured a Russian steamer and converted her into the commerce raider Cormoran. Emden rejoined the East Asia Squadron, then was detached for independent raiding in the Indian Ocean. The cruiser spent nearly two months operating in the region, and captured nearly two dozen ships. On 28 October 1914, Emden launched a surprise attack on Penang; in the resulting Battle of Penang, she sank the Russian cruiser Zhemchug and the French destroyer Mousquet. Emden to raid the Cocos Islands before finally being defeated by the Australian cruiser HMAS Sydney. The Dresden-class Emden’s fearsome reputation gave her the nickname the “Swan of the East.”

Emden’s primary armament as a shipgirl is her rigging which is the mechanical and weaponized equipment that manifests around them during combat and is design-wise based on the warship they are based on. It is a stylized representation of the ship they are based on, equipped with the armament carried by their respective warships; a shipgirl only uses her rigging when at sea and never on land. Her main armament consists of ten 10.5 cm SK L/40 guns in single turrets. Her secondary armament consists of eight 5.28 cm SK L/55 guns in single turrets. Emden is also armed with torpedoes.

Emden holds no notable role within the Iron Blood. However, Emden did serve briefly as a cruise ship receptionist.

Emden likes it when her lover/partner or any object of her desires submits to her. However, she wants it to be done willingly, she wants them thoroughly dependent on herself and so employs a carrot-and-stick attitude, where Ghost Emden’s barbs act as the stick and Emden’s kindness is the carrot.

Default Skin: Typically, Emden wears a white leotard made of a thin fabric that is seen through as to show her skin. Much of her modesty is protected because of a corset-like garment that isn’t fully tightened around her waist. Her crotch area has a golden cross on it.
