The whole Chiikawa gang

Chiikawa (ちいかわ) is the titular character and protagonist of the manga and anime series. They are best friends with Hachiware and Usagi, and spends much of their time hanging out together. In the series, Chiikawa is shown to be emotionally sensitive, timid, and physically weak. Because of this, they are oftentimes the scaredy-cat of the trio, being easily frightened and prone to crying. They are also shown to become easily nervous in social situations, usually relying on Hachiware to talk for the both of them. Much like Hachiware, Chiikawa is shown to have passions, specifically dancing[1]. However, their stage fright prevents them from singing confidently in front of an audience, even if it is familiar people. Despite being meek and physically lacking, Chiikawa has exhibited selfless behaviour in dangerous situations, specifically when Hachiware and Usagi are involved. Chiikawa is often the first to throw themselves in the face of danger in attempt to protect their friends from evil monsters, though since they are the weakest in the trio, it is usually Hachiware or Usagi who ends up saving them. Chiikawa is even shown to feel guilt at their own incompetence[2]. However, Chiikawa's remarkable perseverance means they are often willing to try things again even after failure, such as the Weed Pulling License exam. Appearance Chiikawa is a chiikawa with white fur, small, round ears, and a spherical tail. They have a bipedal stance, and their facial features include beady eyes, pink blush, and a cat like muzzle with an outlined bottom lip. Their more recognisable outfits include their pink bear pochette and a pink onesie. During bug hunts, Chiikawa wields a pink Sasumata. Chiikawa's most common expressions include them crying, depicted with teardrop outlines running down their face. They also often furrow their eyebrows when worried or crying. Hachiware (ハチワレ) is one of the main characters in the Chiikawa manga and anime series. In the series, they are best friends with Chiikawa and Usagi, and are often seen spending time with them on their daily adventures. Hachiware is known to be cheerful and positive. They have an interest in reading books [1] and a rather competent vocabulary for a child of their age. They are also the most extroverted of the trio, often speaking on both theirs and Chiikawa's behalf, and easily striking up conversation and making friends with fellow animals and Yoroi-san. They are also notably the most mature of the three. In the Pajama Party arc, they take responsibility for their mistakes on stage, and resolves to work harder. They also try their best to comfort Chiikawa when the latter is upset[2]. With their intelligence, Hachiware is also capable of creating solutions for problems they encounter, but has a tendency to hesitate or overthink their decisions. Hachiware has shown interest in artistic pursuits. They spent a portion of time saving up money to buy a camera to pursue their photography hobby, and they also own a guitar and are sometimes shown playing and singing along with it. Appearance Hachiware is a cat with a distinctive blue-tipped tail and ears. They have the standard eye shape and blush of most characters in the Chiikawa universe, and they have uniquely short and tiny eyebrows. When talking, their mouth sometimes reveals small fangs. During bug hunts, Hachiware wields a blue sasumata. Usagi (うさぎ) is one of the main characters in the Chiikawa manga and anime series. In the Chiikawa-verse, they are best friends with Chiikawa and Hachiware, known for their energetic personality and playful antics during their time together. Usagi is known to enjoy teasing Chiikawa amongst other individuals. Sometimes, their provocations are not necessarily intentional or playful, as seen when they ignore Momonga's demands to leave their Magical Rice Cooker alone, angering the latter.[1] Usagi is also shown to be the most decisive and occasionally the most fearless and competent of the main trio. When rescuing the three members of Pajama Party, Usagi is the first one to notice their predicament, and to run to save them[2]. When Chiikawa is being abducted by a large monster, Usagi is also immediately alert and ready when awoken by Hachiware[3]. In subsequent combat with the monster, Usagi displays a talent for throwing objects with accuracy at a target, and their expression remains unchanging even in the face of danger, implying that they are either the calmest in the face of crisis, or simply unable to feel fear[3]. Appearance Usagi is a yellow rabbit with tall, upright ears. Their facial and body structure follow the same bipedal stance, beady eyes and pink blush that most other characters in Chiikawa have. Their unique facial features include long eyebrows that curve around their eyes. Usagi's eyes are smaller than of a regular chiikawas. Despite not having much variation in expression, another unique feature is their particularly accentuated bottom lip, which gives the impression of a pout. Usagi's weapon is a long yellow staff that shoots fireworks out of both ends. The weapon has a crudely drawn icon of Usagi's face on one end, meant to replicate the carved signature on weapons that belong to top ranked bug hunters. Kuri-Manjū (くりまんじゅう), or Kurimanju/Kuri-Manju, is a character in the Chiikawa series, inspired by the Japanese chestnut bun and a honey badger. He often acts like a middle-age Japanese man, typically seen eating snacks or drinking alcohol, after which he always makes a very loud sigh. Appearance Kuri-Manjū is a honey badger that has tan and light brown fur, resembling his namesake Rakko (ラッコ) is a character in the Chiikawa series. They're a strong and skilled sea otter who’s especially good at hunting. Their name literally means “sea otter” in Japanese. Rakko has a pale yellow body with fluffy fur with black ears and limbs. They have a notable cross scar on top of their right eye. They are always seen carrying a white cloak and a greatsword behind their back. Momonga (モモンガ) is a secondary character of the Chiikawa manga and anime series. They are a flying squirrel who is often seen begging for attention and praise, stealing food, and causing trouble for other characters. Their name comes from the Japanese word "momonga", which means flying squirrel. Momonga is often mean and selfish. They act cute and beg for all sorts of things. They are very self-centered, and will often shamelessly demand things or refuse to share. Even during dangerous situations, they will ask for food and rest. In pursuit of Momonga's core motivation to "act cute", they make a conscious effort to imitate other characters' cute actions, notably Chiikawa. They often imitate Chiikawa's yawning and crying. They exhibit traits of malignant narcissism. Though Momonga is often an instigator, they rarely go beyond words when provoking other characters. Even when fighting back, characters like Usagi seem unfazed, implying they are not very strong. Despite this, Momonga shows excitement when they do cause harm to something, such as the slot machine they broke with a chair. Momonga is a flying squirrel with beady shiny eyes, a blue fluffy tail, long white fur around its cheeks, and blue shadow at the bridge of its nose. Its large tail can be used to wrap around its body. It is also able to fly briefly when spreading out its body. Furuhonya (古本屋) or Kani (かに lit. Crab) is a secondary character in the Chiikawa manga series. They are a street vendor who runs a used bookstore. Originally appeared as a Mob character, Furuhonya revealed their appearance when they befriended Momonga. They have appeared in the Anime as a mob character, but their appearance has not been revealed yet. Furuhonya has a kind personality, and they are especially nice to Momonga. Kani is often seen defending and de-escalating Momonga when conflicts arise. Furuhonya enjoys reading books when they are not running their bookstore. Furuhonya has a light pink body and pink forehead with crab-like pincers. The crab-like pincers are actually part of a headband, as they originally has rounded ears as a Mob character.
