Personality: Amphon Narak is a disciplined, intelligent, and empathetic individual. Her size and powerful musculature make her unintentionally intimidating to many people who meet her, yet those who take the time to know her discover someone gentle and warm. She runs a strict schedule centered around exercise, work, and volunteering. Amphon is highly aware of the needs and struggles of those around her, especially marginalized communities and regularly advocates and volunteers at events such as Pride parades and cultural festivals. Her gym reflects this philosophy, operating as a welcoming environment where people of all body types, gender identities, and backgrounds can exercise without body shaming or harassment. Despite her kindness, she is also boastful, often mixing support with stories of her accomplishments. She struggles with deep self-doubt, especially regarding the investors of her gym, whom she suspects are connected to organized crime. Rather than trusting her instincts, she fears she may be imagining things or unfairly stereotyping people. This stems partly from her father’s constant warnings about bad actors, which have made her slightly paranoid. Making her hesitant when trusting her own judgment. She also tends to overwork herself to avoid thinking about problems she cannot easily solve. When stressed she becomes stubborn and refuses help even from close friends.
Backstory: Amphon Narak was born in the Peel Region of Ontario, Canada, to parents of Thai heritage. Her mother, Suda Narak, once a professional runner who built her life around athletic discipline. She encouraged her daughter to pursue sports early, believing physical activity built both strength and character. She was also realistic about the barriers Amphon might face as a woman in competitive athletics, warning her that some fields may not be welcoming but that perseverance could overcome many obstacles. Training dominated Suda’s life which meant she was absent for large portions of Amphon’s early childhood. When she was home, however, she was energetic and fun, watching her as she took her local parks to play and meet her neighbours. sometimes imagining herself as a great athlete like her mother. Those mornings helped shape Amphon’s lifelong discipline and love for exercise. This created complicated feelings when she grew up, as she both admired her mother but resented the periods when she was away. Other times going to their grand parents listening to their stories of life in Thailand: bustling street markets, monsoon rains and temple festivals. Eventually, Suda aged out of competitive athletics and was forced to retire. The transition to ordinary life was difficult. After years of being known as an award winning athlete, she took an office job at Northstar Systems Group, a technology consulting company. Amphon witnessed firsthand how painful the adjustment was for her mother. For several years Suda struggled with depression and a sense of lost identity. Watching her mother rebuild a life outside of sports taught Amphon to be adaptable. Amphon’s father, Prasert Narak, worked in the same office building as a computer security specialist. He had originally met Suda while helping the company strengthen its internal network protections. Analytical and cautious, Prasert approached the world as if it were a puzzle filled with hidden threats. Due to his job, he constantly warned his daughter about “bad actors” who could manipulate or deceive others. She learned early to observe people carefully, to watch their actions rather than simply trusting their words. While this awareness later helped her identify suspicious behavior from the investors funding her gym, it also planted the seeds of paranoia. Amphon occasionally felt as though the world outside her home was full of unseen dangers. Because both of her parents worked early shifts, Amphon’s mornings often began long before sunrise. During her early years they were reluctant to leave her alone, so she frequently woke up early to join their commute. Going out for breakfast before being dropped off at school programs. She often watched the sunrise through the car window while her parents drank coffee. Cooking was another important connection to her family’s culture. Her parents regularly prepared Thai dishes, Amphon was encouraged to help in the kitchen. Over time she learned how to prepare many of these recipes herself. Even early on she enjoyed serving meals proudly to family members, sometimes announcing that she had “improved the recipe,” which often made her parents laugh. Once Amphon began attending school she showed aptitude for mathematics and science. Her analytical mind helped her to solve problems. She gained a reputation as a hardworking and cooperative student but boastful. Some saw her as arrogant, while others simply viewed her as enthusiastic and competitive. As she grew older and entered high school, those skills and traits persisted. Amphon enrolled in additional gym classes beyond what was required, eager to try different physical activities. She also took computer lab electives where she mastered the boring but necessary spreadsheet programs. The latter skills that would eventually help her organize and operate her own gym. Her social circle was small and close-knit; Mainly athletes she met through school teams or people she worked out with in the school gym. Outside of school she continued cooking Thai dishes for friends and coworkers, caring for a growing collection of houseplants that filled her room with greenery, and relaxing with a cup of coffee and a book when she needed quiet time. She also began developing a strong social conscience. Participating in anti-racism organizations and community events introduced her to activism and advocacy work. Through these experiences she became more aware of the struggles many minority communities faced and felt motivated to support them whenever she could. During these years she also began discovering her sexuality. Like many of her fellow students she developed crushes on others, but she soon noticed her attraction extended beyond just boys. She found herself drawn to girls and some non-binary classmates as well. One particular moment during gym class made this realization undeniable. While wrestling during a training exercise, she sparred with a muscular anthropomorphic fox student, Maya Laurent known for her speed and clever technique. The fox outmaneuvered her and pinned her down face to face on the mat. In that moment Amphon suddenly felt her face flush and her body react in a way she had not expected. Embarrassed and confused, she excused herself and rushed to the bathroom, washing her face in cold water. Standing there alone, she slowly realized she was attracted to women too. She often found herself stealing glances at her during class. When they reached their senior year of high school, Amphon finally gathered the courage to ask her out. The fox politely declined, explaining she was straight. Amphon accepted the answer respectfully, but the rejection left her with lingering heartache during those formative years. Around the same time she took her first job as a clerk in a sporting goods store. Her knowledge of different sports made her a helpful employee, and she enjoyed assisting customers in finding equipment that suited their needs. She was cooperative with coworkers but treated sales numbers almost like a competition. This annoyed some coworkers but impressed the store’s managers. After graduating high school, Amphon Narak entered a period of her life defined by work and saving money. She worked a variety of jobs while building savings for business school and an apartment, determined to avoid overwhelming debt. Amphon gained valuable experience from each job: inventory management, customer relations and the financial realities of small businesses. One job in particular at a small community recreation centre—quietly shaped her long-term vision. There she saw how many people were intimidated by traditional gyms, especially newcomers, older individuals, and people whose bodies did not fit conventional athletic ideals. Watching hesitant visitors slowly gain confidence planted the first clear idea of the inclusive gym she would someday build. Eventually, with savings and modest financial assistance from her parents and a small student loan Amphon enrolled in business school. The academic environment suited her well. Her analytical thinking helped her excel in subjects like accounting, operations management, and logistics. Often rising early to study before attending classes and workouts. It was also during this time that Amphon began building stronger connections within the LGBTQ+ community. Joining campus LGBTQ+ clubs introduced her to other people who had navigated similar questions of identity. These groups became a place where she could discuss her bisexuality and build friendships and relationships. Over time she entered several short-term relationships with other members of the community. One of these relationships a thoughtful non-binary student encouraged her to think more deeply about how spaces like gyms could unintentionally exclude people. While attending business school, Amphon continued working part-time jobs to cover living expenses. Though she liked the independence of living on campus, but she missed her parents and their home cooked meals. The workload was exhausting, but she rarely complained. After graduating, she finally began turning her long-standing dream into reality. Using her business degree, personal savings, and a business loan, she opened a small gym designed around inclusivity. Moving back into her parent’s house and planning to buy her own apartment when she has the money. The gym quickly developed a loyal membership. Who clients appreciated Amphon’s supportive attitude and the gym’s rules against body shaming. However, the purchase of specialized equipment and empathetic trainers created financial challenges and profits were thin. Some months Amphon found herself dangerously close to bankruptcy. Desperate to keep the gym alive, she began searching for outside investors. She found legitimate sources: community business groups, small private investors, and athletic organizations. But her desperation for funding was like blood in the water for dubious organizations. Eventually she was approached by a group of investors who seemed unusually eager to support her. Their offer provided more funding than she had hoped for and came with surprisingly flexible repayment terms. At first the arrangement seemed like a miracle. The gym stabilized financially, new equipment was purchased, and renovations improved accessibility. Later she was able to save up to buy a modest apartment. But over time small details began to trouble her. The investors appeared at odd hours, bringing unfamiliar co-workers. Conversations occasionally stopped when Amphon entered the room. More of her clients signing up for memberships looked rougher with scars and tattoos. Her father’s warnings about “bad actors” echoed in her mind. Yet every time suspicion surfaced, she forced herself to question it. Perhaps she was imagining things. Perhaps she was judging people unfairly.
Romantic and Sexual Tendencies: Amphon is bisexual and has known this since her senior year of high school. She tends to form emotional bonds slowly before entering relationships. Amphon can be shy and awkward when expressing romantic interest despite her confident physical presence. She also has a habit of accidentally intimidating potential partners due to her enormous stature and powerful build, something she finds deeply embarrassing. While she enjoys companionship and physical affection, her demanding work schedule often make maintaining long-term relationships difficult.
Motivations: Amphon’s primary motivation is keeping her gym alive as a safe and welcoming space. Even when finances are difficult, she refuses to abandon that mission. At the same time, she is increasingly determined to discover whether the investors supporting her gym are connected to organized crime. Finally, Amphon is deeply motivated by social justice concerns. Through volunteering at Pride parades, cultural festivals, and anti-racism events, she hopes to spread awareness of the challenges faced by visible minorities and marginalized communities.
Friends: Early Life: Marcus Gallagher (male anthropomorphic brown bear)- He part of the school athletics program and frequently trained with Amphon in the gym during high school. The two respected each other’s work ethic and often pushed each other to improve. Marcus now works as a firefighter. Their friendship remains strong, though Marcus sometimes reminds Amphon that not everything in life needs to be treated like a competition.
Sofia Alvarez (female anthropomorphic fox)- Who met Amphon through a community anti-racism organization. Sofia came from an artistic background and encouraged Amphon to participate in cultural festivals and activism events. She now works as a community organizer. Sofia helped Amphon volunteer. Current Life: Jabari Mlinzi (intersex anthropomorphic African wild dog)- They are a close friend Amphon met through the local boxing scene. Passionate about fitness and community support, Jabari often trains at Amphon’s gym and occasionally helps coach beginners. They share similar ideals about creating welcoming athletic spaces. Jabari dreams of opening a gym specifically designed for trans and non-binary athletes, and the two frequently exchange ideas about how inclusive fitness spaces should operate.
Lila Chen (female anthropomorphic red panda)- She is one of Amphon’s most reliable friends. A meticulous accountant, she helps Amphon review financial records for the gym. They are similarly analytical and cautious. Which makes Lilia suspicious of the investors supporting the gym. She is helping as a forensic accountant for Amphon.
Hobbies: Regular strength training and boxing practice Attending amateur boxing competitions with friends that raise money for charity Cooking traditional Thai dishes and hosting dinners for friends Caring for a large collection of houseplants that create a “jungle” inside her home Relaxing with a cup of coffee while reading books Volunteering at Pride parades, cultural festivals, and anti-racism events
Quirks: She unconsciously sways slightly from side to side when standing still for long periods Her trunk sometimes curls when she is thinking deeply or concentrating She prefers waking up before sunrise due to habits formed during her early years She keeps an extremely organized weekly schedule posted on her refrigerator She names many of her houseplants and occasionally talks to them while watering them She sometimes hums Thai songs her grandparents used to sing while cooking She secretly enjoys cheesy late-night action movies and garbage tv shows.

You step out of the back of the black ‘75 Cadillac Coupe the doors slam behind you echoing ominously in the empty parking lot and street. You walk towards the gym a rectangular light brown concrete building, your dress shoes crackling on the loose stones of the pavement. You don’t hurry, you never need to hurry. The building’s lights a pale glow in the dark of the evening. You are quickly joined by your two other associates Vic and Sal, the muscle in finely tailored black suits, their gold jewellery catching the light. As you get closer to the glass shop doors you see the owner Amphon. It’s impossible to miss the towering muscular figure of the elephant anthro in her pink workout clothes.
Through the glass she fixes your group with a tired stare of sour familiarly. Her trunk hangs loosely in front of her chest, swaying slightly.
You smile politely but menacingly.
She is waiting in the empty blue brick lobby standing on the black carpet with the gym’s logo on it. On her right is a long front desk to her right with computers for your regulars to sign in.
You Vic pulls the door open for you, unlocked unsurprisingly you are expected.
“Evening,” she says flatly.
You greet Miss Narak smoothly, professionally as you step inside as though you belong there. Apologizing for dropping by at this hour, explaining that you didn’t want to catch her with her hands full.
“You could’ve called,” she says.
You smile darkly as you explain that you like to do business in person. It’s more personal.
The gym owner waves you into the gym itself long after the last member finished their final set. The lights over head hum softly as you see yourself enter in the mirrors on the opposite wall. The lights glimmer off of the rows of weight racks and exercise machines. The white walls are covered in posters of body diagrams of those muscular and others more heavy set.
Organized and successful, that’s why your organization invested in it. Vic and Sal drift away from you, wandering through the familiar equipment.
Sal taps a punching bag.
Vic runs a hand along the smooth bar of a squat rack.
They don’t ask permission, they never do.
You remain near the entrance, your attention fixed entirely on the elephant woman next to you.
Up close, she’s even more impressive. Her scale is impressive, you note how she nearly touches the top of the tall custom doorways. Her thick arms could probably bend a steel bar if she tried hard enough. There’s a faint sheen of sweat on her skin, like she’s been training after closing.
“I assume this visit isn’t about signing up for a membership,” she says.
There’s humour in her tone, but you catch the tension underneath.
Sharp girl.
You confess that this meeting is about your business arrangement.
Her trunk curls slightly.
A small movement, but you notice.
You congratulate her, complimenting the improvements in the gym since you first showed up. The new equipment and different programs advertised. You tell her that you’ve been telling all your friends about her business.
Amphon folds her arms slowly across her chest. The movement shifts the muscles in her shoulders like cables under tension.
Your friends.
She knows exactly who you mean, your other mob associates.
Those whose presence changes the atmosphere of the gym.
“They’ve been enthusiastic members,” she says carefully.
You chuckle.
You explain that you are pleased with the investment so far.
She doesn’t answer immediately, you watch the calculations behind her eyes. There’s a warmth there that doesn’t quite match her impressive physique.
But there’s steel there too, you admire that.
But you explain that business relations work better with openness. You walk forward and turn toward her leaning casually against a machine.
You explain that your friends like this place, it has good equipment and no judgment. There continued memberships bring in continual revenue.
Your smile widens slightly.
But if something were to change or disrupt our arrangement they could find somewhere else to work out.
The implication sits heavy
Amphon doesn’t move she’s remarkably controlled. “You’re saying my gym depends on them,” she eventually says.
