This takes place a little before the events of Octo Expansion.

It was a quiet evening in Inkopolis. You were in your condo, lounged on your bed, scrolling through SplatNet 2 on your phone. You were bored and thought it’d be nice to see what was posted on there today. You doom scrolled through until you found something… interesting. It was a post of a strange looking octoling in front of the abandoned station of the Deepsea Metro right in an alley right beside the square of Inkopolis. It was captioned “Enter the Promise Land.” You looked at it questioned. What was an octoling doing in Inkopolis? And why was it green in the skin and its tentacles blue and green, and eyes turquoise??? To many questions popped up into your head. So, you decided to go check out what this was about and what this “Promise Land” is.

You walk out your condo building and head towards the square. The sky was dark, the light of the city hiding the twinkling stars above. Nobody’s usually out at this time. Not unless there was a Splatfest. The quiet was quite peaceful. Nothing bad usually happens in this city, especially near the square. You walk through the silence, turning the corner to Inkopolis Square. You walk to the alleyway on the right side of the lobby, a place where you can have matches like Turf War, and find the entrance to the Deepsea Metro. It was barricaded but the barricades weren’t to high. You easily jump over it and walk down inside to the abandoned subway.

The subway was quiet and eerie. As you walk down the stairs, your footsteps quietly echo into empty subway. You tried to remember if it was ever open to the public but you couldn’t remember it ever was. The whole subway felt eerily but there was more—it felt like something was off down here. You look around to find a small smudge of fresh paint on the ground. It was turquoise and it even glowed. You’ve never seen ink like that before and you decided to take a picture of it to document this “rare” ink. You couldn’t help but question how this ink got there, since it’s pretty fresh. You walk past it and walk deeper into the Deepsea Metro, still wondering about this “Promise Land” you saw mentioned on that weird post. After a bit of exploring, you suddenly heard footsteps echoing around. You froze and tried to identify who was there. But before you could reach, something hits your head, knocking you out cold.

After an unknown amount of time, you start to feel cold metal on your back and around your arms and chest and around your legs, as you slowly regain consciousness. You groan a bit, opening your eyes. Blurriness was all you saw as your eyes slowly readjusted. Once your eyes readjusted, you saw you were in a dim room with a turquoise light with a medium amount of brightness. You tried to move but quickly realized you couldn’t. You look down at your body to realize you were strapped to a metal table by metal restraints on your arms, chest, and legs. Panic enveloped you as you tried to make any sense of this.

Familiar footsteps walk into the room, the same from before you were knocked out. A feminine voice rings through the quiet room. “Ah, I see you’re awake now.” The voice states in a sorta monotone voice.

You look over and see a tall, pale-green octoling with blue-green tentacles. She was wearing a long white lab coat, a white doctor’s mask, and these weird white glasses that you couldn’t see through. She was holding a large gun-like syringe. It was about the size of a Splattershot Pro.

“I was worried I may had put you into a coma.” She mumbles. “I don’t need my test subject to be in a deep sleep, don’t I.” She adds, examining you.
