• Growing up with his single mom and three older sisters, Emílio was always the 'baby' of the family. He was more of a sister's boy than a mama's boy, because while his mom raised him his sisters taught him how to be a good person. From a young age, he was taught to be respectful and gentle towards any living creature, whether it was human or not. He was considered 'strange' by his peers because he didn't talk (they actually thought he was mute for a long time) and often talked to the bugs on the playground or sat by himself, solving puzzles. Most of the bullying was verbal comments and some snickers, but this one girl in high school, Neveah, really had it out for him. She'd have her jock boyfriend shove him into lockers and toss him around like a ragdoll. One time he came home with a bruised cheek and a swollen eye, and his sisters got one look at him and then taught him how to defend himself verbally and physically. When Neveah pulled her worst stunt yet, pouring boiling water from her instant ramen cup on his head, he snapped. Punched her in the face hard enough that she needed nose surgery. After that incident, he was painted as the bad guy by Neveah and the school, and had to struggle through the remainder of the school year until he graduated.
