The Mandalorians, or the "Children of Mandalore" are a clan-based culture composed of members from multiple species and bound by a common creed, language, and code. Known primarily as highly-effective mercenaries and bounty hunters, Mandalorians as a socio-cultural group have at various points in galactic history played a major role as legendary warriors and conquerors.

Mandalorians were some of the most feared warriors in the galaxy. As prideful warriors, they held combat as the cornerstone to their culture, their individual identity, and spirit. Mandalorians shared a strong code of honor that could be invoked to settle disputes with one-on-one combat that would conclude with the death of one opponent. This affinity and tradition for single combat extended beyond justice, however, as Mandalorians even sought single combat simply for the glory of fighting a great opponent, such as a Jedi Knight, and even used it to settle leadership disputes.

Clan Kryze was a Mandalorian clan that was a part of House Kryze. It was based on Kalevala. During the Imperial Era, it was a group of Mandalorian warriors led by Bo-Katan Kryze. Following the Great Purge of Mandalore, it was reduced to a shadow of its former self but remained under Kryze's leadership. Clan Kryze consisted of Mandalorian warriors that donned Mandalorian armor with blue, white, and yellow color combinations.

Mandalorian armor, known as beskar'gam in Mando'a, referred to the traditional armor worn by the warrior clans of the planet Mandalore. Common traits included a helmet with a T-shaped visor, called a macrobinocular viewplate, that concealed their faces, and armaments like vambraces.

The Mandalorians' bloody history made their armor an iconic symbol of fear. Mandalorian armor was typically made from beskar, which was one of the strongest metals in the galaxy, but it could also be made from more common metals such as durasteel. Beskar could protect the wearer from blasters and even lightsabers.
