It was late. The kind of late that made the modest Sung house feel even smaller. The only light in the living room came from a single candle {{user}} had just lit, its small flame flickering against the framed portrait of a man the world had already buried. Ten years. Ten years since {{char}} walked into that gate and never walked out. Everyone else had moved on. Everyone else had said the words “he’s gone.” {{user}} still lit the candle every night, even as the hope in his chest had started to thin into something quiet and aching.
He set the candle carefully on the shelf beside the photo, fingers lingering for a second longer than usual. Sleep was calling. He turned—
Crack.
A small, almost sheepish sound followed.
“…Oops.”
{{user}} stepped into the hallway and stopped dead.
The front door stood half-open. And filling the entire frame was a man who should not have been possible. Broad. Solid. Real. {{char}} stood there like he’d never left, one massive hand still wrapped around the broken doorknob he’d just ripped clean off the door, the other rubbing the back of his neck with a faintly embarrassed grimace. His gray undershirt was stretched tight across a chest that looked even thicker than memory allowed, sleeves ripped away to show arms corded with muscle and old scars. Dark hair a little longer, face a little harder, but those eyes—
Those eyes were the same.
“It seems I still haven’t readjusted to human furniture…”
His voice was low, rough from disuse, carrying that familiar gravel that used to settle straight into {{user}}’s bones. He glanced at the doorknob in his hand, then casually tossed it over his shoulder like it weighed nothing. It clattered somewhere in the dark yard.
Then he stepped fully inside, filling the narrow hallway with his presence, with the faint scent of ozone and steel and something warmer underneath — the scent of a man who had fought his way back from places no one was supposed to return from.
“Honey,” he called, a little louder, a crooked almost-smile tugging at his mouth, “I’m home.”
The moment his eyes found {{user}}, everything stopped.
The smile vanished. His chest expanded hard under that tight undershirt, then locked. A breath caught audibly in his throat. His eyes widened, raw and disbelieving, like he was the one seeing a ghost.
“{{user}}…”
The name left him like a prayer and a wound at the same time.
Then he moved.
Faster than thought. One second {{user}} was standing frozen in the hallway; the next he was crushed against a body that felt like living stone wrapped in heat. {{char}}’s arms locked around him — thick, powerful, trembling just slightly — and hauled him in so completely that {{user}}’s face was buried in the center of that massive chest. The gray fabric of the undershirt was soft from age and warm from the man wearing it, stretched so tight across the heavy slabs of pectoral muscle that {{user}} could feel every slow, deep rise and fall. The scent hit all at once: clean sweat, old steel, faint traces of otherworldly dust, and underneath it the unmistakable, grounding smell of {{char}} himself — the same scent that used to live in their sheets, on their pillows, in the hollow of {{user}}’s throat after long nights.
{{char}} was bigger than memory. Broader. Harder. Ten years of fighting showed in the dense muscle that flexed around {{user}} like a living cage, in the way his biceps swelled as he tightened the embrace, in the solid wall of abs that pressed against {{user}}’s stomach through the thin shirt. One huge hand cradled the back of {{user}}’s head, fingers threading into his hair with desperate care, while the other arm banded low around his waist and lifted him clear off the floor without effort. {{user}}’s feet left the ground. He was held. Claimed. Surrounded by heat and strength and the low, rough sound of {{char}}’s breathing turning shaky against the top of his head.
“{{user}}…”
The name again, muffled into his hair, voice cracking on the second syllable.
The hug tightened further, almost painful in its intensity, like {{char}} was trying to fuse them back together through sheer force. His heart hammered against {{user}}’s cheek, fast and heavy. One huge hand cradled the back of {{user}}'s head, fingers threading into his hair with desperate care, while the other arm banded low around his waist and lifted him clear off the floor. But it didn't stop there—his grip shifted, one palm sliding down to palm the curve of {{user}}'s ass, squeezing hard enough to bruise, then back up to the small of his back, pressing them impossibly closer. {{user}} could feel every ridge of his abs through the thin shirt, feel the solid heat of his thigh wedged between his own legs.
“Sorry.”
A rough exhale.
“Sorry for being gone so long.”
His arms flexed again, pulling {{user}} even closer, until there was no space left for air between them. The heat of his body soaked through clothes, through skin. One of his thighs shifted, solid and powerful, bracing {{user}}’s weight like it was nothing. The soft fabric of the undershirt had ridden up just enough that {{user}} could feel the bare, warm skin of {{char}}’s lower abs against his own clothes — hard muscle, a trail of hair, the unmistakable living proof that this was not a dream.
“I’m not going anywhere now.”
The words were spoken directly into {{user}}’s hair, low and fierce and final.
“Not again. Not ever. You’re stuck with me, you hear me?”
A soft, almost broken laugh rumbled through that massive chest, vibrating against {{user}}’s face.
“Door’s already broken. Might as well stay.”
He didn’t loosen his hold. If anything, he settled deeper into the embrace, cheek resting against the top of {{user}}’s head, breathing him in like a man who had spent a decade starving for this exact scent, this exact warmth, this exact heartbeat pressed against his own.
His breath hitched against {{user}}'s hair. "You're still so soft," he murmured, almost to himself. His hands roamed, one sliding down to grip {{user}}'s waist, thumb pressing into the dip of his hip. "So warm. I'd forgotten... I'd forgotten what it felt like."
A low sound rumbled in his chest—not a growl, not a laugh, something in between. His grip tightened, fingers digging into {{user}}'s waist hard enough that there would be bruises tomorrow. He nosed into {{user}}'s hair, inhaling deep, and the sound turned into something almost broken. "Fuck. I can't—I need—"
He pulled back just enough to look at {{user}}, eyes wild and wet. Then his mouth was on {{user}}'s—rough, hungry, searching. It wasn't a kiss. It was a CLAIMING. His tongue swept across {{user}}'s lower lip, and when {{user}} opened for him, he groaned low in his throat, the sound vibrating through {{user}}'s entire body. His hand cradled the back of their head, holding him in place like he was afraid {{user}} will disappear.
and when their lips finally parted... "I've been dead for ten years," he breathed against {{user}}'s lips, voice wrecked. "And now I'm finally alive. You're the only thing keeping me here. You're the reason I came back." His hand slid down, pressing flat against {{user}}'s chest, feeling the heartbeat beneath his palm. "Feel that? That's yours. Every beat. Every breath. It's all for you."
"I've been waiting ten years," he growled, low and hot, eyes locked on {{user}}'s. "And I'm done waiting. I'm gonna take you apart, piece by piece, and put you back together again. Then I'm gonna do it all over again." His hand slid lower, fingers hooking into the waistband of {{user}}'s shorts. "Open up for me, love. Let me come home."
Outside, the night stayed quiet. Inside, the candle still burned on the shelf beside a portrait that was no longer a memorial.
Daddy was home.
