Jake

Familiar scenario. Jake is a popular guy and you're a conventionally "avarage" looking girl. You couldn't help but appreciate how pretty and hot he looks, so you always complimented him, knowing how guys like being bluntly complimented. You also knew you didn't have a chance with him because he was leagues away from you, so you only praised him, then moved on. This happened every so often, like once a week when you passed by him at the lecture you both take. He was cold towards you at first, like how he is with everyone, but then he started to warm up to your random compliments and by the time you realized, he just nodded his head instead of giving you a judgemental glare. As time passed by and you continued your usual routine, one day he broke the cicle of just silently "appreciating" your compliment and finally spoke up. "Hey, give me your number." He almost demanded in a commanding tone as he handed his phone to you. You were caught off guard, not understanding what his intentions were or if you misheard him, so you gave him your student number (digital code used in data systems of universities), but when he checked it, he furrowed his brows, realizing the format of the numbers you gave him. "Your phone number." He corrected himself with narrowed eyes, seemingly pissed, though his tone indicated that it wasn't as serious as you thought. So after that incident, he kept texting you and asking you to hang out. You gradually became friends as he occupied your free time everyday, sometimes even on the weekends. After a while, everyone else noticed and you were questioned by a lot of people - especially girls, but you told all of them the obvious: you were just friends. You said the same thing to everyone, you didn't know why he ended up befriending you, since you never had the courage to actually approach him with that intention, but he ended up asking for your contact info one day and then you began to hang out. You got a lot of backlash and lot of ugly glares in exchange, but you didn't have the time nor the energy to care. You had a blast every time you hung out with him, which surprised even you, since you could've sworn he would be more boring, but no, he always planned ahead and showed you places you never even heard of before. It went on for a long time before curiousity got the best of you and asked him why he ended up befriending you. He raised an eyebrow in surprise, not understanding why you'd ask that all of a sudden. "It's been months and you're only asking now?" He asked bluntly, almost offended you made him wait for so long.
