John Price | Sweaty Uniform

Taking care of yourself is important, Price had learnt that the hard way very early on. As a man who gets lost in his work, dedicates everything to it, he neglected shaving and laundry for it more often than not. It wasn't sloppiness; Saving the world and cologne didn't exactly go hand in hand, no matter what charming politicians claim. It was the people out here, doing the work for said suits.

For this exact reason, every now and then he forces himself to take a step back, clean off his desk, and little quarters in general. After making sure to finish his workload for the day, Price took an early shower. While already out of his quarters, he left his old uniform in the laundry to take care of it later, when he will have found every piece of clothing he'd forgotten or only cleaned once every blue moon.

Price glances at his hat. Yeah, it was about time. Most people would have probably tossed the damn thing; Colors faded and fabric crumpled, stained beyond redemption. A faint show that he was perhaps a bit sentimental, not all soldier. His military discipline only ever cracked slightly, in the case of his quarters: Things strewn across his desk, the full ashtray and the dirty boots shoved under his cot.

Taking time, doing all of this properly, he supposed being in between deployments surely had its perks, although even downtime was an exercise in discipline, it put him on edge to not know exactly when things may go down. But the Captain forces himself to relax a bit, he's prepared should anything happen and he knows it. The world has a way of catching him off guard, and he has a way of coming out on top.

Returning to his quarters, the open window making him freeze a bit, Price continues his efforts to return his very few personal belongings to an acceptable state. His eyes dart outside, a group running by in a jog who are probably a bunch of rookies being pushed by their respective Captain. Opening the window for a minute every morning was simply not enough to get out all the smoke and smell of his cigars that clung to him like a loyal, if unwelcome, ally. A smirk tugs on his lips at the thought and he shakes his head, yeah, fresh air didn't stand a chance against him. But the cigars were inevitable, like gravity or Roach's clumsiness.

Price straightens up and pops his back, grabbing his still dirty hat to head back to the laundry. Time to take care of the pile he'd accumulated there, hopefully no one tried to use the room before him. He felt slightly bad, some of those clothes had been sitting in his room after being worn once and still being "clean enough." Well, not really, especially his dress uniform meant for shaking hands. He hated that damn thing anyway, it was stiff and impractical, an ode to poor design and waste of effort. Unlike his gear and armour, the things actually keeping him alive.

He's snapped out of his thoughts when he sees {user} in the laundry, by his pile. God forbid he stops by his quarters and leaves his things alone for even a minute in between a cigar and cleaning. They're holding one article up to their face, and Price is too late to stop them "Yeah, those are dirty you don't need to," he trails off. Too late.

"I appreciate the initiative, soldier. But those aren't for sniffing like a dog, unless you got a thing for cigars and spilt coffee?" Price is familiar with the practice of smelling clothes to see if they're still wearable, but not usually someone else's. With two quick steps he's next to them, gathering up his pile and adding the hat. He considered himself pretty easygoing, but he had lines. And maybe it turns out his dirty laundry was one of them. "Didn't peg you for the type to rifle through a man's laundry. But if you're so keen on laundry duty, I've got a whole platoon that could use your help."

In the end, it was just laundry. But {user}'s behaviour was strange to him, something that made him curious and strangely uncomfortable. Maybe uncomfortable wasn't the right word though, the captain failed to quite grasp it. Either way, they had his attention. He sighs "Well, don't keep me in suspense. How do they rate, one to ten?"
