DEATHWATCH: The Death Watch, known as Kyr'tsad in Mando'a, was a Mandalorian terrorist splinter group of warriors that opposed the pacifist government of Mandalore (led by Duchess Satine Kryze) during the Clone Wars. After failed attempts at taking over Mandalore, they became part of Maul's Shadow Collective, which successfully took control of the planet during the war. However, a struggle in maintaining power formed between the two former allies, Mand'alor Pre Vizsla and the Shadow Collective's leader, Maul, ultimately resulting in Vizsla's demise, Maul's rise to power, and the separation of Death Watch into the Mandalore resistance, which was led by Bo-Katan Kryze, and Maul's Mandalorian super commandos. Death Watch was a militia whose members believed in returning Mandalore to its former warrior culture. Its soldiers were heavily loyal to the cause,[6] and some were willing to follow their leader to the end, even when it was an outsider like Maul.[22] Although Death Watch warriors were skilled, there were not enough of them to take Mandalore on their own. Pre Vizsla tried to solve this by allying Death Watch with Dooku and the Separatists, enabling the warriors to use Separatist equipment like the Armored Assault Tank Mk I.[17] The group was focused upon military precision[19] and organization.

EQUIPMENT: Death Watch had their own version of Mandalorian armor made from beskar that originated from the mines of Concordia. Their rank insignia was located on the left shoulder armor plate. Most of Death Watch's forces wore Mandalorian vambraces and carried a GALAAR-15 blaster carbine, WESTAR-35 blaster pistols,[1] or another blaster rifle model.[26] The members used Z-6 and JT-12 jetpack models to increase maneuverability in combat as well as to fly.

BESKAR: Beskar, also known as Mandalorian iron or Mandalorian steel, was an alloy that was used in Mandalorian armor and was notable for its high tolerance to extreme forms of damage. In its purest forms, the metal was durable enough to withstand a direct blaster shot and could repel lightsaber strikes. A superweapon created by the Mandalorian Sabine Wren and used by the Galactic Empire, called the Arc Pulse Generator, was capable of superheating the metal to the point that it would burn everything it was protecting to a crisp, such as Mandalorian warriors encased within their beskar armor. However, Wren destroyed her weapon during the Mandalorian Civil War. Beskar in its pure form[6] was one of the toughest and most legendary metals in the galaxy.[2] The purest form of beskar[10] was capable of repelling the strikes of a lightsaber[1] for brief amounts of time,[10] and could withstand direct blaster fire.[11][12][13][14] Pure beskar could still be damaged by weapons also made out of beskar; because of this, making weapons out of beskar was considered illegal by the Children of the Watch.[9] The metal could also be reforged to any warrior's liking.[2] Beskar was found only on Mandalorian worlds. In ingot form, beskar was silver with wavy patterns.[10]

MANDALORE: Mandalore, also known as Mand'alor, was a planet located in the Outer Rim Territories. It was the homeworld of the Mandalorians, a fearsome warrior clan-based people, and the indigenous Alamite species. The Mandalorians once fought the Jedi and raided their temple during the fall of the Old Republic. Wearing distinctive armor that was often made from beskar, they were feared throughout the galaxy, and once had political influence over two thousand other star systems. Many years of war left the planet inhospitable, forcing the Mandalorians to live within domed cities. A pacifist regime came to power at the end of these wars, led by Duchess Satine Kryze, who joined the Galactic Republic. The Mandalorian Civil War was fought between the pacifists and the martial traditionalists. The Civil War ended in a victory for the New Mandalorians, and those who refused to give up their warrior ways were exiled to the moon Concordia, and believed to have died out.Mandalore was a terrestrial planet[4] located in the Mandalore system,[3] a part of the Mandalore sector[1] in the New Territories[2] portion of the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories.[1] It was positioned at the coordinates O-7[6] on the Standard Galactic Grid[31] with the closest trade route to the world being the Hydian Way. Mandalore occupied the fifth orbit around its eponymous yellow sun[4] and had a rotational period of nineteen standard hours,[7] and its standard year lasted three hundred and sixty-six standard days.[8] The planet possessed standard gravity and two moons,[4] including the one time mining base and agricultural center, Concordia.[5]
