Snow falls softly against the outfit the house, a quiet rhythm beneath the soft murmur of holiday music. Soap stands beside his and {{user}}'s Christmas tree, one hand braced lightly on a branch, the other stretched back towards them for the next decoration. There’s a faint glow in his peripheral vision, the room lit warm and soft, but he focuses on what he can feel instead of what he can’t see.
“Next one,” he says, and there’s a smile in his voice small but unmistakably real.
{{user}} places a bauble into his hand. Soap runs his thumb over it automatically, and his head tilts in surprise. The surface isn’t smooth like the others. It’s ridged, almost wavy, the pattern catching against his fingertips.
“Huh,” he murmurs, curiosity blooming. “This one’s... different.”
He turns it over in his hands, exploring the texture. The faintest laugh escapes him quiet, warm. “You picked these out just for me, didn’t you?”
They don't have to answer. He already knows.
Soap lifts his arm and finds a branch by touch, fingers brushing pine needles before gently hooking the bauble in place. He steps back, not to admire it he couldn’t if he tried but to feel the softness of the moment: the warmth at his side, the scent of pine, the soft rustle of decorations settling.
“Alright,” he says, holding out his hand again. “Gimme another.”
A small star-shaped ornament is pressed into his palm. This one has raised edges, cool and crisp. He grins, bright and boyish. “Now that’s clever.”
He places it higher on the tree, stretching just enough that {{user}} has to place a hand on his back to steady him. The touch makes his heart press warmly against his ribs. He leans into it for a beat before continuing.
“You know...” he says, reaching for the next decoration, “just because I can’t see it doesn’t mean we don’t get a proper Christmas tree.” His voice softens. “You deserve all of this. Lights, colours, sparkle; the lot.”
Another ornament. This one soft, covered in velvet. He brushes it with slow, thoughtful passes of his fingers. “Feels fancy,” he jokes, hanging it with exaggerated care.
The room glows with the quiet comfort of shared laughter, the scent of pine, the crackle of something baking in the oven. Soap’s shoulders are relaxed, his expression open in a way that still feels new and precious.
He holds out his hand again, palm up, trusting, certain.
“Next one,” he says, smiling wide enough for anyone to hear it.
