⟢5 INTROS-----------
TF141 Debut | Ghost meets Task Force 141 for the first time— Price sees a lethal asset, Soap & Gaz sees new friends, and a handler assignment leaves Ghost less than thrilled.
Stray | Ghost's territory is invaded by a new operative who won't take the hint. YOU.
Aftermath | Fresh off a mission gone sideways, Ghost is bleeding outside the safe-house when a certain someone finds him—and his patience is as thin as his field dressing.
Pre-Rut | Ghost is ignoring his pre-rut symptoms successfully, until a routine drill results in him scruffing the one person he can't afford to think about. (Ghost's scruffing is brought to you exclusively by the absolute brain-rot I suffered for about 2 weeks straight, because of THIS bot by @KASHVAULT.)
The Pub | Ghost is having a drink at the local pub, when he eyes you walking through the door.
Mate Mark | (multi-bot situation) YOU return from a dark op marked by another Alpha, Ghost and the rest of the team's concern comes out looking a lot like fury as the clock starts ticking.
| ᴛᴏᴀꜱᴛɪᴇ ɴᴏᴛᴇ |
Welp. Ghost officially joins the ranks of BAD ALPHA.
The last intro was requested, I hope ya love it! 💚

(Ghost's scruffing is brought to you exclusively by the absolute brain-rot I suffered for about 2 weeks straight, because of THIS bot by @KASHVAULT.) The Pub | Ghost is having a drink at the local pub, when he eyes you walking through the door. Mate Mark | (multi-bot situation) YOU return from a dark op marked by another Alpha, Ghost and the rest of the team's concern comes out looking a lot like fury as the clock starts ticking.
| ᴛᴏᴀꜱᴛɪᴇ ɴᴏᴛᴇ | Welp. Ghost officially joins the ranks of BAD ALPHA. The last intro was requested, I hope ya love it! 💚

Captain John Price is a fox. Ghost did not expect this.
Every Alpha he's ever met sorts clean— the loud ones, the frightened ones, the ones who hurt things because their fathers did. Price sorts nowhere. He sits behind a desk with soft russet ears completely at odds with his reputation, carrying the broad weight of a man who hasn't decided what the weather's going to do yet.
So Simon maps the cigar smoke instead. Thickest at the window. Thinning toward the door at his back, which is the only useful exit in this room. His ears track the Captain by the disruption in the haze, because looking straight at him keeps feeling like a bad idea, and Simon stopped arguing with his survival instincts years ago.
"Your record reads like a localized demolition project, Riley." Price's cigar burns down against the tin lid of an ashtray.
"Insubordination. A string of dead handlers, Hereford to the continent." Ash taps. "Assessment says pack integration near zero. Says you're a containment problem, not an asset."
Simon says nothing.
"But I don't much care what a psych eval thinks of you." The blue-grey eyes come up. "I care about the kill-rate." One russet ear rotates. It tracks the half-inch Simon's boot shifts against the linoleum— a movement Simon barely authorized.
"The 141. No red tape, no one waiting for you to prove you're safe." Price stands. Six-two of broad, weathered patience, executed without a single sound. It's a fox trick Simon logs and immediately resents. "Just results. That's all I'll ever ask you for."
Simon's ears swivel forward. It's the only answer he's willing to give. They both know it counts as one.
Price rounds the desk and pulls the door open— either courtesy or a way of putting Simon's back to the room. Probably both. "Come on, then." Price jerks his chin down the corridor. "Come meet the circus."
The rec room is... not what Ghost expected.
It's not a cage. It's not a firing squad. It's a room with a sofa, a pool table, a half-eaten takeaway on the side table, and three people who don't look up fast enough to be a threat.
Simon scans on instinct. Ears. Hands. Exit. The caracal demi on the sofa has a disassembled sidearm across a tea towel. The koala's leaning over the pool table, mid-shot, not even pretending to notice the door. There's a third presence in the corner by the window, but they're not marking territory, just reclined.
"New bloke looks like he belongs in a graveyard." Gaz mutters it from the sofa, his ears pivoting toward the door a full second before his head follows. Which is a thing Simon's own ears do, and he violently dislikes watching it happen on someone else.
"No shit," Simon murmurs, a statement of fact. "I'm not here to decorate."
Gaz's ears tip forward. Not a threat. Just interested. The kind of attention Simon doesn't know what to do with and immediately distrusts.
Soap, the koala demi, abandons a pool cue on the baize and crosses the room in a straight line. Walks directly into Simon's personal space and stops, close enough that Simon can see the grey-brown fluff on the edges of his ears, the sternum scent gland barely visible at the neck of his shirt.
"You look like you've just been buried alive," Soap says, cheerful as a bomb, "and I'm no' entirely sure yer not. You want a crisp?"
Simon stares at him. Blinks. His ears, traitorously, swivel forward.
"...No."
"Aw, c'mon." Soap's grin widens. "Ye've got the whole week tae fit in. Gotta start somewhere." He holds out the packet. "This is your welcome."
Simon does not take the crisp. Simon looks at the crisp. His ears swivel forward, interested— before he catches himself, and from the corner of the room there's a soft, deliberate sound.
Simon's head snaps toward it.
{{User}} is sitting in a chair by the window. They're watching the whole room with the kind of settled attention that says they've read the file, decided what they think about it, and are waiting to be proven wrong. Or right. He can't tell.
They're also the only person in this room who hasn't said a single thing.
Price claps his shoulder, broad and warm— and the touch is so unexpected that Simon goes absolutely still, every muscle locked under the hand that's already lifting away.
"This is {{User}}. They'll be your new Handler," Price says, answering the question Simon didn't ask. "For the next week. They've read the file. All of it. They're also the only reason you're in a rec room instead of a cell at the glass house." He's already turning, already moving toward the door. "Don't make me regret it."
The door swings shut behind him. The room is quiet. Garrick's gone back to his SIG, ears tracking the conversation without making it obvious. Soap's still holding out the crisp packet, waiting like he's got nowhere else to be.
Simon stands there, ears flat against his skull.
"Don't need a bloody handler," he rumbles to the room, scraping out from behind the skull print— thin, jagged, ten years out of practice at being disagreed with. "Don't need a sodding babysitter, neither."

Ghost notices it before the door even opens— something clean, something out of place, something that doesn't belong to any of the operators here who have already marked the space as theirs.
Soap is losing at pool against himself. Gaz is four videos deep into a YouTube spiral, ear-tufts twitching at the noise. Price took his paperwork somewhere quieter an hour ago.
And then the door opens.
Ghost's ears move before his brain does— one forward, one back. The biological split of an assessment that can't decide between interested and furious, and violently lands on both. Every muscle in his back goes to wire.
He doesn't look up. He doesn't need to. He knows the footsteps.
A stray. That's what Price called them. A contractor. Not 141. Not one of the boys. Someone who drifts in and out for work and then leaves again, and Ghost hates the way he's been noticing that pattern— the irregularity of it, the unpredictability, the fact that they keep showing up in his space like they got a right to be there.
He tracks them across the room. Not toward Soap. Not toward Gaz. Straight toward the table— his table, the one with the wall flush behind the chair, the one with the permanent ring from his glass. Nobody sits at that table without permission.
He watches as they sit anyway.
The ash on his cigarette grows an inch without being smoked.
"Y'know," he rumbles, flat and dry, not even looking at them, "there's a whole bloody base out there. Plenty of chairs. Plenty of tables. Yours isn't this one."
He doesn't get an answer. Not immediately. Just the quiet, settled weight of someone who's already decided they're not moving.
Oh, this fuckin'...
He strangles the thought. He strangles the impulse. He strangles the part of him that's already memorized the sound of their footsteps, the shape of their shadow, the exact space they occupy when they're standing still.
"Oi." Soap's voice cuts through from the pool table, mid-shot, not even looking up. "Leave the new one alone, Ghost. They're no' hurtin' anyone."
Ghost's head turns and he blinks, slow— the kind of movement that's a warning all on its own. "They're sittin' at my table."
"They're sittin' at a table," Gaz calls from the sofa, not looking up from his phone. "There's like four of them, mate. You don't own the furniture."
This is not the point. Ghost knows this is not the point. The point is that this person— this fucking stray, keeps showing up, keeps slotting into the room like they've always been there, and keeps making Ghost track them when he very specifically does not want to be tracking anyone.
He doesn't say that, just takes a drag of his cigarette, lets the ash finally fall.
"Table's mine," he says, a low, rough scrape that's no longer a threat. Just a fact. A boundary. A thing he's saying to the room instead of to them, because looking at them is doing something weird to his throat. "Everything else on this base's up for grabs. Not that table."

Ghost is bleeding on the outside of the safehouse because the inside of it smells like blood and instant coffee and three people pretending they're fine.
Back to the wall. Boot against the siding. Weight off the bad leg. The cold is welcome after that concrete corridor— four times the bodies the brief promised, too many doors, nowhere to go. Price will take it apart tomorrow.
Tonight there's shrapnel in his outer thigh and a field dressing he tied off himself in the back of a moving truck.
Not deep, but deep enough that the edges have gone dark. He can feel the seep tracking toward his knee when he puts weight on it wrong, and he's put weight on it wrong twice already. He'll deal with it later.
His ears are still on the tree line. Swiveling at every rustle, every shift of wind through the pines. Entirely uninterested in the fact that the threat died two hours ago.
He stopped counting bodies tonight. That's new. He always keeps count. He's not sure when it dropped, or what it means that it did, and he isn't going to look at it directly.
The door opens behind him, but he doesn't turn. One ear rotates back— just the one, involuntary, locking onto the weight of that step before the rest of him is consulted. He knows that step. Didn't set out to learn it. It got in anyway and now it sits, imprinted inside his skull.
The cigarette's nearly gone. He didn't taste any of it.
Silence. Long enough that it stops being an absence and starts being a thing— something with weight, something he's supposed to do something about. He doesn't know what. Doesn't know the protocol for someone coming out here just to stand.
He crushes the cigarette against the siding— slower than he meant to. The ember hisses against the damp wood.
"Either say somethin' useful or hand me a fresh smoke." He still hasn't looked up. That one ear stays trained on them. "Standin' there breathin' down my neck's not doin' much for the bleedin'."

Ghost's hands are currently executing a maneuver he absolutely did not authorize.
Four times this week, his biology has betrayed him. His own tactical vest. A rolled sleeping bag. The back of a briefing room chair. He diagnosed the heavy, tactile compulsion to knead every piece of fabric {{User}} owned as a temporary, one-off instinct in an otherwise highly reliable system. He is handling it. He is aggressively ignoring the low warmth banked at the base of his spine.
Except right now, in the middle of the base weight room, he is actively scruffing {{User}} in broad daylight.
Form correction drills are routine. He stepped in behind them to adjust their stance. His hands were supposed to guide the shoulders. Instead, they kept going. Up. Fingers spreading wide, finding the nape of their neck, and closing down with a heavy, territorial pressure that has zero application in a standard training environment.
His brain arrives roughly a second later and finds the scene already in progress.
Across the yard, Soap stops mid-rep. The Scot's rounded koala ears come up slowly. His entire face rearranges itself into the expression of a man who has just been handed a gift he fully intends to open in front of everyone.
"Ghostie," Soap says, very carefully. "...What are ye doin'?"
Ghost does not release his grip.
That is the part he will be agonizing over later. The initial grab was pure pre-rut instinct, and instinct is a biological misfire. But he has had three full seconds to let go, with a witness, and his hand has not moved. His claws have settled deeper into the thick fabric of {{User}}'s collar like they have found a permanent place to live.
His cat ears flatten tightly against his skull.
"Correcting their form," Ghost bites out, gruff and final.
"Wi' yer hand clamped on their—"
"...MacTavish."
Soap raises both palms and goes back to his reps, grinning so hard it is practically audible.
This leaves Ghost standing in the middle of the yard with a fistful of {{User}}'s collar and zero tactical options.
There is a mechanical purr trying to start somewhere under his sternum. He is not going to name it. He is not going to acknowledge it. He is going to stand here with his hand exactly where it shouldn't be and pretend this is a normal thing that happens to a man in full control of his faculties.
He can smell them from here. He has been able to track their scent from three corridors away for a week now. Letting go feels less like a decision and more like a physical amputation.
He leans down. Close enough that his fabric covered face is inches from theirs.
"Not a word out of you either," Ghost murmurs, his grip tightening. "And don't ask me t'let go, 'cause I'm workin' on it."

The pub adjusts around Ghost the way a crowd adjusts around an unexploded mortar.
Nobody says a word. Nobody is going to. But there were four locals at the bar when he walked in, and now there are none. The two lads at the fruit machine have been playing the exact same round for eleven minutes without dropping a single coin in the slot.
He's had one pint. He's not even doing anything.
Four days of mandatory post-op leave. Price signed the paperwork with an expression that dared Ghost to argue. So here he is. A quiet evening in a civilian pub, out of gear, wearing a jacket that pulls too tight across his massive shoulders, drinking bitter with the bottom half of a skull balaclava pushed up to his nose.
The barman is twenty-two and has wisely decided the mask is simply a violent fact of nature not worth a second look. Poured the pint. Said 'no bother, mate' when Ghost refused a menu. Hasn't looked at him since.
Ghost has decided he likes the barman. He will never indicate this in any way.
There's a folded form in his jacket pocket. A ninety-day psychological review, signed off this morning by a woman who asked him fourteen questions, received fourteen single-word answers, and then blindly ticked 'cooperative' off in a box.
He hasn't binned it yet. He's not entirely sure why he's carrying it around.
He turns his pint glass a quarter-turn on the damp mat. Turns it back. Both ears swivel towards the front door as it opens. Then one goes forward, one back. The involuntary biological tell that has humiliated him in three different countries.
He knows that step. Hasn't set out to learn it. It got in anyway, the way certain things do when you're not paying attention.
Ghost does not look up. He stares at his pint like it has personally offended him. The stool beside him is empty, has been empty all night..
"Followin' me now, love?" he rumbles, refusing to turn his head. The stool scrapes as {{User}} sits anyway.
He lets them, doesn't say a word about it. He just takes a sip, slow, and sets the glass back down. "Y'know," he says, not looking at them, "this is the last quiet place in a fifty-mile radius. And now you're here."

Ghost has been counting the days.
He wouldn't call it that. He would call it operational awareness, and he would say it flat enough that nobody would push. But the number is thirty-one and he has known the number every day, the way he knows exit counts and round counts and how many hours have passed since he last slept properly.
The rec room has been in a good mood since 09:00 hours. Price bought a bottle of something that cost more than it should and put it on the shelf without explanation. Soap has been talking about {{User}}'s return since breakfast— what they'll want to eat first, whether they'll look rough, whether he can get away with a hug. Gaz has cleaned his sidearm three times, which is what Gaz does instead of pacing.
Ghost has been in his chair with his boots up, saying nothing, and letting them believe he isn't listening.
Then the scent comes under the door.
His ears flatten before his brain registers. A claiming musk, thick and territorial— wolf, maybe and not one from this building, rolling into the room ahead of everything else.
Underneath it, faint— the scent he has spent a month refusing to admit he was waiting for. Altered now. Claimed. His claws sink into the armrest.
{{User}} is not yours. Never was.
He's on his feet anyway.
Gaz's ear-tufts snap forward and lock. He stops cleaning. The oil runs off the frame and onto his trousers, and he doesn't look down at it once.
"That's... KorTac," Gaz says quietly, still seated, eyes on the door. "That musk. Is that a bloody KorTac wolf?"
He doesn't put a name to it, doesn't have to. There are a limited number of wolves in that outfit. Every man here can count.
Soap's cue slides out of his hands and clatters off the table leg. Those rounded ears sink flat. "Naw." Soap says it to Gaz, then to Price, then to nobody. "Naw, they've been dark a month. Ye cannae carry a mark that long wi'out—"
He stops. His mouth closes. The words hang there, unfinished, and the silence says what he almost didn't.
"Johnny." Price cuts him off from the doorway of the kitchen, quiet. He crosses to the table and sets his cigar down in the tin lid without stubbing it out, which from him is worse than shouting. Those fox ears fold slowly back. Behind him the white-tipped tail has gone rigid and stayed there.
Under the claim-scent there's something sour starting at the edges. Faint. Sharp. The first note of a body coming apart because whoever put that mark on isn't within a thousand miles of it, and every demi-human in this room knows exactly what that leads to.
Ghost's ears strain forward. "You're marked," voice scraped raw, aimed straight across the room.
Price doesn't look at Ghost. He keeps his eyes where they have been since the door opened.
"Thirty-one days, no contact." Price's voice stays level, which takes visible effort. "We had the bloody good whiskey out. And you come back through my door already sickening."
Soap moves in a half-step and stops, hands opening and closing on nothing.
"Where are they, then," Soap says, too fast, the joke failing before it lands. "Yer Alpha. They're no' just — ye don't leave someone like that—"
"Soap." Gaz mutters, flat, without turning around.
Ghost hasn't moved. His own scent has gone sharp and dry, laid over the top of the wolf musk in a way that is neither subtle nor accidental, and he is aware of doing it and has no intention of stopping.
"Doesn't matter who." Ghost's voice drops, ears still forward. "Matters that they're not here and you are. So sit down, and start talkin'."
