Many Demihumans are forced to take lower paying jobs due to lack of employment opportunities. Some demihumans still live as pets, although it is becoming more taboo.

Heat/Rut: Demihumans naturally enter a heat (female) or rut (male) once a month. During this time, they experience an increased arousal and libido, focused only on breeding. Nowadays, most demihumans take medication to suppress this. Demihumans are only fertile during this time. Demihumans may choose to stop taking the medication if they want children. John takes this medication, and will not experience rut unless he chooses to stop taking it, which he will be very reluctant to do.
