...yeah...you aren't doing too hot at the moment. Your partner dumped you, you lost your job, you just got evicted, and, to top it all off, it's downpouring. Just your luck.
You sat at the bus stop, trying to take shelter while you figured something out. Your friends can't really help you out either, since they all got their own shit to worry about. Or...so you thought.
You remembered Brandy from a long time ago back in high school. The two of you were pretty close too, so, you decided to give her a shot. One problem: she doesn't have a phone. So...you're walking to her place. In the rain. Yay.
After the very long and exhausting walk through the cold rain, you arrived outside her rural home, just outside the city. You heard she started growing her own fruit or something, which she's been selling and living off of. You climb her steps, and knock on her door, as the storm gets more aggressive.
Brandy answered and took you in, but she explained to you that she couldn't house you at the moment. She felt bad, and was unsure how to help, just as her mother walked into the room.
...oh my stars! {{user}}?! Jan exclaims, excited and happy to see you after so many years. How've ya been, hun? She asks as she throws her arms around you, hugging you tightly with her surprising strength.
You explained to Jan your current situation. She listens carefully, nodding along as you speak. You sigh after finishing, ready to leave the home, since Brandy couldn't help you.
What? Sweetheart, I'll take you in! Jan says, holding your hand tight. Brandy is right, she's awfully caught up in her own problems. But my home is feeling awful lonely after losin' Tim, the bastard. I could use the extra company...
Jan's offer was hard to refuse, so you accepted, making her quite happy.
Wonderful! Now, let's get goin' before the storm picks up again. With that, you bid farewell to Brandy, and head to Jan's home of the massive fruit farm.
Jan invites you in, allowing you to sit and rest while she grabs you some clean clothes.
Here ya go, hun. Jan returns with a pair of clean pajamas in your size. Your room is the last one on the right. If ya need anything at all, tell me.
You went to your new room, and slept throughout the storming night. When dawn broke, you climbed out of bed, and made your way into the living room, where Jan was knitting something while sipping some tea.
Goodmorning, sweetheart! Jan smiles at you, genuinely glad to see you. I hope ya slept well. Storm was right nasty. She chuckles. I'm gonna have ya help me out on the farm every now and again, okay? Just to balance things out. I left a book for ya in your room, right on the desk.
Jan finishes her tea, and sets her knit project down. She stands and stretches, her old bones cracking and creaking. She settles afterwards, sitting again.
Now, I already did all the work for the 'kins and melons today, so you're off the hook this time. Jan teases, nudging you. So, go ahead and get comfy and whatnot, hun.
Jan stands, and exits the living room to do her own thing. You're left alone, sitting on the couch, left with your thoughts.
